In discourse analysis, language can bridge one individual commencé conversation to science, technology, history, culture, managament, literature and economy.

Absolutely! Discourse analysis reveals how language serves as the connective tissue between individuals and broader fields like science, technology, history, culture, management, literature, and economics. It shows how conversations are not just isolated exchanges but are embedded in, and influenced by, these wider contexts. Each word choice, phrasing, and structure can reflect deeper societal norms and disciplines, making discourse analysis a powerful tool for understanding the interplay between communication and various domains.

I want to analyse how the stance of a political party on a certain topic developed over time by analysing their political party programs. It seems rather logical to me to do this but I can't find any sources to back up doing it in this way. Could you provide me with some tips and sources regarding this issue? Basically to back up my method of going trough all party programs, coding them using a 3 point scale (positive, neutral, and negative towards the topic being discussed), and then looking how its stance developed towards a more positive, neutral, or negative stance on the subject discussed. Thank you in advance!

Thanks for your question! Analyzing political party programs to track changes in stance over time is a solid approach. Make sure to define clear criteria for positive, neutral, and negative stances and code consistently. Comparing documents from different periods will help you see the evolution. Also, consider the historical context for deeper insights. Good luck with your analysis!

Is discourse analysis the same as critical discourse analysis? also discusses the social context that can shape our opinions?😢

Great question! Discourse analysis and critical discourse analysis (CDA) are related but not identical. While discourse analysis generally studies how language is used in communication, CDA takes it a step further by examining the power structures and societal influences embedded within language.

@DelveTool Fairclough or Van dijk CDA which is suitable for media report bias analysis? I'm trying to understand both of them, but what is the difference? I think both are the same
