A magnificent display of the geology involved and very easily understood the lay of formations and the hierarchy of the types of gems you're after, thanks Chris, and your devoted supporters. We've a large chunk of citrine, to the Scots, they call them cairngorms, and a cairn is a piling up of rocks. The smooth side appears like a heavily mineralised quartz blob, grows through as white quartz, points grow from the highly fractured quartz, to clustering of clear points, and the larger crystals point a bright and clear yellow. Unfortunately I don't know where this chunk came from, but the outside seemed as the outer bubble to the vug - there's no dirt within, so from deeper and free of staining by atmosphere, vegetation and erosion. A comparison with any citrine mining sites in Scotland, to see the ground and rockery their found, for where near you similar or the same might be struck upon. Had we the spare dosh we'd splash that instead of shooting our mouth off in this literature reply, it's the least I can do. Much continued great success to you, you're a gem. Cheers, Gabi.

Get yourself a good chisel and hammer to break the rock, that way you get the small specimen you want (or it may even pop the crystal off). Citrine can be made through heating a Amethyst crystal which is probably why you found that one after a fire.

Yeah you should make a nice hiding spot hike up a bunch of wooden planks put them together in your garage and bring them up there and put them together and make a underground little fort for all your stuff so you don't have to keep trucking it up there just a thought you work for me in Kern River California it's still up there full of stuff I don't know if anybody ever found it if they find it there's a lot of good stuff in their shovels gold pans Snuffer bottles baby in a few nuggets😂 but now I'm old I don't care about it anymore

Nice work. There is a bloke in Bristol who finds gems locally. Crystal and gem hunting might be a more realistic target than panning for gold in my area. You can get a variety of wire brushes from stiff metal to stiff plastic bristles that would be perfect for cleaning up the crystals. 👍🏻⚒️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
