I studied architecture in Hungary for a school assignment about a year ago. It was one of the best history assignments I have ever done and I am still in love with hungarian architecture. Maybe some day I can go to see Budapest :)

The architecture is amazing in Budapest. We were lucky enough to go into my family apartment. It was above the Toldi cinema on bajcsy szelinski ut. There is a plaque on the building commemorating my uncle was born there. Tamas (Tommy Ramone) Erdelyi.

I live in Canada and my parents took us to visit Hungary when I was 7, 8 and 10 years old. I remember my mother asking me what I thought of the city and my response was “everything is so old!” Now at 61 years of age I am planning to once again visit and the architecture is what I am most looking forward to. So I can honestly say that I especially enjoyed this video. Thanks Ákos !

Budapest is beautiful! Would you consider making a tour of the inner courtyards (udvarok) in BP? Their are some real gems behind the buildings facades ...

Hey there! It's something we are considering for the future yes :) The thing is that as most of the courtyards are residential areas, you cannot just walk in and take footage :) Usually there are some events called Budapest100 where very old buildings are opening up and there are guided tours in them, maybe we can participate in the next event to show some of the unique and closed off courtyards :)

Fun video. I have a video suggestion. Reviews of non-Hungarian restaurants locals like to eat at - Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Indian etc.

Thank you! There is the so called Palota negyed area, which is around the Hungarian National Museum, and the Egyetem square close to Kálvin tér Metro station, I particularly like that area for the architecture and there are some nice restaurants in the area too 😊

my son the architect, noticed also that the most beautiful details were to be found near the roofs , or the corniches, pretty much hidden completely if you don't look upwards. Often, he stared towards the sky for hours discovering the most intricate patterns, colours and variations. One must take in mind that WW1 and 2 as well as the 1956 revolution (and 43 years of Communist rule) took a huge toll on the beauty of this city. I saw it as a child tourist in the 60 and 70s and the renaissance is truly unimaginable!

WW1 didn't affect the capital, as there was no fighting there. The Romanian intervention after the war might havd a small effect though.

Budapest is such a beautiful city, I've been there many times and every time I go there is something new, I can't wait to go back to Gerlóczy Kávéház and Muvesz kavehaz to have some Dobos Torta :)
