I went to Hungary to visit with my relatives and my Aunt lived in Budapest. Then about 4 hours by train to other relatives in Nyíregyháza. I loved Hungary and I love our food and thankfully learned to cook much of it. Watching you walk around the food market and tasting so many of my favs let me relive my time there. How about that Langos? In Hungary you paid under $3 U.S. & when they have Hungarian Events here in the USA they charge up to $8 for a small langos. But when you love something you buy it. YUM Thank you again for sharing. OH YOU MUST GO BACK!!! There are so many foods you didn't get to taste and it's worth another trip. Chicken Paprika, Stuffed Cabbage, etc. And the desserts. Dios which is walnut and pastries are made with it that will blow you away.

It IS one of the tourist attractions of the city, so they have a reputation to preserve. 😉 But also, Hungarians like high quality produce and ingredients when it comes to food, and that means keeping things clean is important to them. These people are really a lot about food and cooking and eating, and doing things the proper way in the kitchen. It is quite common to hear Hungarians criticizing how other people make the same dish. 😂 These are people who complain about the weight they will put on but they will go ahead and eat it anyway. 😂 I'm Hungarian.

Correct is what the official name in the language you are speaking is, often different from the local name in the local language. Otherwise basically everyone would be pronouncing all names of everything in the world "wrong" just because its different in the local language. Like Berlin, Paris, Moscow, Bavaria, Prague, ...

My friend in school was from Hungary and her mom made the best sandwiches ever! She made a sandwich spread which I have never forgotten and never saw again.
