I still do not understand what flurry jab or slash do... Whether I spam or hold the button makes no difference in attack speed, so what does it actually do? I expected it to automatically attack faster, with the disadvantage to be lockedi nto a short animation, but it doesn't do anything that I can't do already!?

@@RoadRunner217I don’t know what to tell you other than the things die a lot faster when I use it. I personally like to use it with Serrated Point or Triple Jab, cause the ‘enemies’ die even faster. It’s fast, flashy and fun!

Only ever used Achilles spear for all the hard stuff in the game. Flurry jab absolutely critical. Triple jab or extending jab with it, Zeus attack is a good one. Tidal dash best. No other weapon was anything like as enjoyable, for me.

I literally don't fucking get it. Like I'm. Trying. So hard. To wrap my head around it. How is his DPS so insane?!?!?! I've had powerful builds, and I'm by no means expecting to be as good. But he beat that fight almost 5x faster than my fastest run. Do you unlock some really powerful tools late in the game or something??

@@phillystevesteak6982 Epic Tidal Dash + 3 Dashes will do that. Zeus attack + Flurry Jab & 4% crit on ANY attack also helps. He was critting like a mad man.

Part of it is the summon for sure, part of it is the poms of power, part of it is Poseidon doing insane damage on knock-back into barriers, and the flurry jab + hermes dashes + pressure points + mark + mirror upgrades = a ton of +% on top of already crazy base damage. The dash attack s mean more chances to attack too instead of avoiding damage. Every chance, the dash attack was the main upgrade choice no question

You can see the damage numbers if you look closely or pause, the blue is the poseidon damage and the yellow is the zeus and both are doing a truckton. I wish the backstab and crit damage were its own colors but what ya gonna do

It should be about 41%. If the sac room is determined at the start and doesn't change, each time you enter a door you have a 1/5 chance of getting the sac or a 4/5 chance of not getting the sac. (4/5)^4 = 0.4096 = 41% chance of entering 4 doors and NOT getting the sac. Of course it really isn't that simple since your odds aren't actually X/5 each time since entering a door removes it from the pool. Your odds of getting the sac are 1/5 for Room 1, 1/4 for room 2, 1/3 for room 3, 1/2 for room 4 and 100% for room 5. *That puts your odds of getting no sac in the first 4 rooms at 20%* [(4/5)*(3/4)*(2/3)*(1/2)].

@@threebees7785 See my comment on the video itself, if there are special arbitrary rules then you can't really know/calculate unless you know all of them. If Room 1 is 0/0 but everything else is "normal" then the formula is the same, you just pretend it's 4 rooms instead of 5 and ignore the first. That means you have a 25% chance of a 5-room sac. Given there are only 3 rooms where you don't actually know (1 is always 0%, 5 is always 100%) I don't think you can say anything definitive about the second room unless you collect a LOT of data from people and it significantly deviates from 25%. As a programmer I wouldn't waste my time making it too complex so it seems logical to me that it goes like this: Door 1: 0%, Door 2: 25%, Door 3: 33%, Door 4: 50%, Door 5: 100%. That's a reasonable distribution and the odds for any room are high enough that it would be near-impossible for any single player to disprove that without thousands of runs to compare.

@@threebees7785 I have 185 clears and 232 attempts. I think I may have had 5-door sacks even fewer times than you but that doesn't mean it isn't 25%. Our vague memories of what happened aren't very reliable and, even if they were, you certainly could do 100 runs and have something with a 25% chance only happen 1-2 times. You're not guaranteed for something to happen exactly 25/100 times just because there is a 25% chance of it happening. We would need thousands of runs from many players to get a statistically significant sample size-or access to the source code/a message from the devs.

Not sure if you even check YT comments, but: 1) How much does room RNG matter? Like rooms with normal enemies vs skull rooms. Or different mixes of enemies. Or some of those huge rooms in Asphodel that have enemies in the corners well out of agro range. I know sack RNG is a thing, but not sure about the rooms themselves. 2) What is the best way to get more efficient during combat? I couldn't even tell when you were using the special to keep the buff up, but you were doing it. And you were pretty consistent at dashing around to avoid getting it. And at being in the right place to undo poison or miss a trap. Is this just repetition or is there a way to practice it?

As meme worthy as Merciful End is with its difficult conditions, this could be neat with Ares attack Athena special and the right Ares boons for Doom damage. I feel like I really prefer casts with Achilles though, especially Parting Shot since Achilles let's you get behind enemies a little easier.

Merciful end is far from hard to trigger. You don't actually have to use the special to trigger the doom. You have to have it for the duo, but you can still use the dash to trigger the damage

I'm still new to Hades speedruns, but why did you start in a mini boss tunnel in the final floor? I thought the satyr sack could only appear in normal tunnels, so wouldn't it make more sense to only follow them?

I'm fairly certain the sack can appear anywhere. Regardless, you can't find the sack in the first door, it'll always be 2nd door or more.

Mini boss rooms are much easier compared to mob rooms imo, except if you get the tiny vermin. Also aren't the upgrades in mini boss rooms improved? Like poms adding 2 levels instead of just 1 etc.

The satyr sack can appear in both mini boss and normal tunnels, but it also can never be on the first tunnel you choose so that doesn't really matter (as what kaisar0) said. Mini boss rooms give you better rewards (double pom, rarer boons, more gold etc.) so that is a likely reason, also yeah I agree with Battousai X that the mini boss final rooms are generally easier (and definitely faster) than normals as long as you don't get the tiny vermin.

I don't know much, but in this stream he was doing a 3 weapon speedrun which basically is "how fast can you beat the game with 3 weapons?" so real timer is used to account for all 3 runs.

How many runs does it take for you on average to get a 10 min, sub 10 run? I've watched a buch of your vids in the last couple of weeks and decided to try some speedrunning, and I can't even get below 11, let alone 10. And I see you can go quite a bit lower than that too. Granted I've only been trying it for 2 days, and I only have like ~150 hours instead of ~1500 but still... kinda insane what times speedrunners can get. My PB after 2 days of speed attempts is 11:08 and thats with pretty darn good RNG. Gonna grind some more in the following days, your vids helped a lot and I want to improve. I don't think I'll ever get sub 8/7 tho lol. ggwp

Zeus scales better with fast weapons, and Zeus is stronger in Tartarus than most other gods. Speed run wise, so long as you supplement Zeus later in the run, I think Zeus wins out in the Tartarus portion.

I thought Ravenous Will gives you bonus if all your casts are in use. Ive seen him pick it up in a couple runs but I hardly see him cast. Am I misunderstanding the boon?

He just doesn't cast very often because he's a speed-runner and casting is a slow enough animation to only be worth it during boss fights since his dps is so high already.

Spamming dash attacks adds a lot of dps, and Zeus attack is very strong for a lot of fast, weak hits because it adds a flat amount not a percentage

My math could be wrong since it's early but your odds of a "5-sac" run should be 20%. You have a 4/5 shot at no sac for room 1, then 3/4, 2/3, 1/2, etc. since each clear removes that room from the possibilities. You add them all up and you should have a 20% chance of getting no sac in the first 4 rooms. The only thing that would change that is if there's some weird RNG at play where the sac isn't always in the same room when you first enter Styx (e.g. it moves around every time you clear a room or is decided by some other arbitrary percentage every time you enter a room). EDIT: If room 1 is always 0% you can just take it out of the equation so the overall odds of a 5-room sac are 25%.

@@atab6555 I am fairly sure you don't get that much damage per SF level, especially after a few poms. I think it'll be mad luck if you reach like 70 damage or something. Could be worth a try though, maybe with Eris Rail, as it usually goes.

The max Pom runs are usually only used with Poseidon or Aphrodite, as those are the gods with the duo boon that makes poms give +1 level.

What's special with this setup? I feel like I'm missing something. Achilles spear does buff atk/cast for a bit but I don't understand how that could scale well with Zeus 🤔 I'd thought artemis/apro would be much better for attack with Achilles.

i don't get it either... it looked like most of the damage came from dash attacks and achilles' buff, i didn't see a lot of flurry jab being used unless it somehow affects dash strikes as well. i'm probably missing something though

Zeus gives a flat damage increase, and due to the way damage is calculated it's better to have a flat damage increase(Zeus attack) as well as a percentage increase(Achilles) rather than two percentage increases(aphro/Artemis + Achilles)

@@scum2643 he was using the dash strike 90% of the time which triggers the tripple hit for flurry jab. So hes doing the zeus dmg x 3 on every dash attack, and if he does that after a special its also stronger

Artemis could work well with Flurry and some other good Artemis boons like Hide Breaker (so you can quickly shred armor and then stun lock whole groups of enemies). Maybe Aphro on special and Heart Rend to flex. Achilles is very very versatile.
