I asked DiscoveryOpt and they stated both Gen 1 and Gen2 ED glass is Japanese made. Also, the Gen 1 is sold out everywhere I looked, but the Gen 2 is coming soon. Correction, my buddy shot about 200 rounds at his sniper course, not 400. I have the memory of a goldfish 😂

Parallax index is off many times, even on high end scopes... however its fairly easy to fix if your handy by adjusting the objective lens focus. You can adjust it to be perfectly in line with the index wheel numbers

I just got the updated version of their 5-40x56 last night, and I agree that it’s absolutely incredible for the money. Everything feels very solid and precise, the glass is clear, the turrets are just awesome, and the rings are super-impressive by any standard - let alone for something included with a scope that cost well under $300 on sale, including shipping and 25% Norwegian VAT. However, the reticle does some really weird things at low magnification; whenever your eye isn’t dead centred, it starts distorting into complex bends and has some strange blurring behaviour. Did you notice any similar effects on yours, and are they any more or less apparent with the 5-25? I can absolutely live with it considering the ridiculously low price, but I’m surprised that so few people have mentioned this issue, since it’s not at all subtle in the lower magnification range. Fortunately, it seems that the side focus works properly for dialling out parallax error, so it’s not a dealbreaker for me. Anyway, great review on a scope that doesn’t have many of them yet; I agree with everything you mentioned, at least based on my brief experience so far.

@@mikegreen2214 Mine did not do that, maybe you need to adjust your diopter a little. It could be worth warrantying it 👍 thanks for your thoughts!

@ Yeah, I’ve tried all the adjustments possible and it’s still bending like crazy. It seems like an optical design issue, but as long as it doesn’t affect point of impact when the parallax is set, then no big deal as far as I’m concerned.

Ask to get the *HD 2-12x24 SFIR FFP* for review. Looks like an LPVO thats got some zoom power. Light weight with 12x zoom. Not many even know it exists. I think/hope it may be a winner

I didn't catch if it has illumination?
@poortac55687 ай бұрын
it does, but its not “daylight” bright. It does help when looking at a black target, in sunlight though.

The bad thing about AAC ammo is that it is not consistent from one box to another. I have found this to be the case with 223 also
@poortac55687 ай бұрын
yeah, its unfortunate. Im having better luck with Freedom Munitions 175 grain stuff. The AAC 77 grain OTM 5.56 stuff has been consistent so far though🤞

Great review, thanks. What about a reticle focus ring? It likes to be a little loose in budget scopes, and that makes poi shift.

The parallax and diopter focus are both stiff and dont move under recoil, if thats what you are asking.
