The folks at Premier Body Armor have come up with something, well, kind of amazing: a soft body armor undershirt with shockingly thin front and back panels. Thanks to its ultra-thin panels, this compression-style T-shirt is nearly invisible under regular clothes. It offers Level IIIA ballistic protection, which includes calibers up to .44 Magnum and 12-gauge shotguns.

I bought a set when it was on sale for Black Friday, and I find it tolerable enough to wear for an 8+hour shift as a rangemaster at our county public range. The plates definitely make me sweat underneath them, but the undershirt carrier does a pretty good job of wicking the sweat away. Of course, it can't do anything about the itch I get between my shoulderblades an hour into my shift...😉 Premier advises to size-down when choosing the undershirt size, I normally wear XL but lost enough weight that I chose L - I also ordered a M shirt to test, and actually I find M to be most comfortable for me. There's enough stretch that I'm not in danger of busting the seams when wearing M instead of L. The one thing I wish Premier would change is to incorporate a "neck notch" at the top of the front plate, when I carry my pistol AIWB and sit down, the pistol tends to push the bottom edge of the front plate up so the top edge presses against my throat.

Looks very nice. As Keith notes below, I would be interested in knowing how this wears over, let's say 12 months. Factoring in some realistic states on "normal" wear with washing, how well will the armor hold up to as new performance and also adding in the wear on the garment. Should the user, who is on a budget, buy one full unit and just an additional shirt/garment to help with longevity?

As one who wore armor every day, the new products look interesting. I hope the panel is sealed, that it will not absorb perspiration because if it does it WILL start to smell very bad very quickly and washing the panels is no good as it breaks down the fabric and destroys the resistance to penetration. If this is sealed like in plastic then you can wipe it down without soaking or degrading the material. Keep in mind it does degrade through wear as well due to the movement of your body. I'm also sure the price she quoted is for one t-shirt and 2 panels. Additional shirts are going to cost more.

Great point, I should have clarified that. I asked off camera and the panels are sealed - rinse them in the sink after popping them out for just the reasons you describe. Thanks for the question so it could be clarified here! And yes, one t-shirt with both front and back panels, so maybe plan on multiple shirts and move the panels around. - Tom

Well my thoughts is ok someone that I know with armor I'll go for legs and half way femor and then the face but someone that isn't id middle so yes I would want this because it's discreet but I'm not sure how effective

@@You-j4p7e Heaven forbid you ever get into a gunfight but if you do, the idea you have isn't likely to be in the forefront of your mind at the time nor will your shooting skills be anywhere near your average competency.

@oldtanker4860 look you have to practice but I will say ok rifles are different but even knowing what your caliber will do so say a nine will outperform a 45 going threw a car but yes lots of things are different and even moving but my point on armor I don't bother with trying to go threw yes some will but major artery in both legs it takes about a minute and yes first aid but you can't go long without permeant damage
