@Super JLK You can't just reverse time. That's not how time travel works.
@DM0M05 жыл бұрын
@Super JLK They already addressed in Doctor Strange the problems that using the time stone can cause. And even if they did manage it, Tony would lose everything he gained over the past five years. A lot of people would lose everything they gained.
@DM0M05 жыл бұрын
@Super JLK That's a morality debate. Is it better to introduce 3.5 billion people back into the world along with the problems that would come with those people or is it better to erase the lives that have fostered over the past five years. Think about all the people who have found new relationships, gotten married or had kids in those five years that would lose all of that. Think about how different your life was 5 years ago and being forced to regress back to that.
@DM0M05 жыл бұрын
@Super JLK That's a great example. If someone remarried, it would be unfair to erase all memory of that marriage. After the Snap, it must have taken a long time for people to come to terms with what happened and for those who found a way to move on and find happiness, it would be wrong to get rid of all that. But like I said, it's a morality debate. There's no right way of doing this and there are problems on both sides. I personally think bringing everybody back after the 5 years is the best way of doing it but arguments can be made for the other side too. I'd really love for Phase 4 to explore this more but I don't see that happening.

yoitscaptain I can agree from a story telling stand point that some franchise might Match or surpass. But from a pure practical standpoint the organization and planning that has gone into the MCU is well beyond comparison. Not to mention Star Wars has the prequels, and LotR has the hobbit films to taint there legacies. Not all the MCU films are great but most meet an impressive level of quality. Also the MCU dwarfs Star Wars and LotR combined in number of movies.
@OnionKnightRises5 жыл бұрын
I love the MCU, but I wouldn't consider it the most impressive, considering how many of the movies are so forgettable. Thor 2 was forgettable, Paul Rudd as Ant-man is great but his actual movies are forgettable as well, and even Captain Marvel which didn't come out that long ago
@mattcampbell44655 жыл бұрын
Aye Jaye forgettable not bad. All other comparable franchises have at least one unwatchable movie. I am not saying the MCU is perfect just better
@knockitoffhudson34705 жыл бұрын
The MCU is unprecedented. No franchises with 22 films manage to retain any kind of narrative continuity. James Bond has 25 films but the story has been rebooted like 6 times. Marvel pioneered the shared movie universe and no one else has come close. There's even a satisfying ending. 22 films in and it didn't go off the rails. I don't think comparing trilogies to a 22 film long franchise is ever gonna end without the MCU not looking considerable more impressive as an achievement.

Hollywood usually does the paradox version (grandfather paradox/Back to the Future) or the predestination one (time travel creates the event/Bill & Ted). The Ancient One explains the third; the past is set and any interaction with it will create alternate timelines. Despite the Stones and Mjölnir returning to their proper times, there's a new alternate one where Loki is free with the Tesseract. Or, once Thanos, Gamora and Nebula learn of the snap, they are now part of an alternate timeline. So present Nebula can kill alternate past Nebula, and not disappearing. Sure Doctor Strange used the Time Stone to change time, thereby creating an alternate timeline. He didn't get that lesson, but Mordo did and that's why he was so pissed.
@chrisconcannon64905 жыл бұрын

My questions that remain: - What happened to the hammer when Steve goes into the past and comes back? - When Peter goes back to school, their's an adult guy in the hallway ushering kids back in. Is that the Skrull from Captain Marvel? - Did anyone catch the analogy of a "mouse" being the savior to marvel and the MCU by letting Lang out and him having the idea to reverse everything? - Who actually puts mayo on hotdogs? Only issues I had: - I was hoping each Avenger would use a stone that suits their personality. Like Tony getting Mind, Hulk getting Reality, Thor getting Strength, etc. this would have been amazing if it happened during that run with the gauntlet after the A-Force. - How did Captain Marvel take that headbutt from Thanos who had the gauntlet on with all the gems/stones in it? OK deep talk here... Steven goes into the past with all the stones but the mind stone, and Thor's hammer. Next scene as an old man with the shield. He went to an alternate timeline, not the current. *STRING THEORY IN A NUTSHELL* String Theory explains possible parallel universes based on changes. You picked a red shirt over a blue, those 2 choices are two different universes. Sometimes small and sometimes large decisions make huge ripples that change things after that point. The hydrogen bomb for example, what if it was never used?* If Steven went back and married Peggy Carter, and you follow that from that date and time to the present Sam and Bucky should know he did that as it's the same timeline. However, They grew up in a timeline where Steven didn't do that, and Sam isn't aware of what happened, so that means an alternate universe was created. *STEVE ROGERS MESSED UP THE TIMELINE!* *Did Cap just create the alternate timeline where mutants are around?*

Nope. Steve getting together with Peggy happened in another timeline which doesn't effect the main MCU timeline. This is a multiverse version of time travel, where a new timeline is created if you go back in time and alter something. The movie made it clear that going back and killing baby Thanos wouldn’t actually change their current reality. He most likely returned to the main MCU timeline after he lived a full life with Peggy (while his other self was stuck in the ocean).

Easily my favorite discussion on the movie so far. Loved the movie. I too think it would be perfectly fine to stop with this movie. Perfect end cap. Very satisfying.

SPOILERS I teared up again when you were talking about the third act as I was reliving it. THAT tells me all I need to know about how good this film is. I had the idea that the stones all together were what kept the timeline intact. However, the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking that the Thanos who was killed at the end of the movie will end up being the Thanos from the alternate timeline that Loki created when he escaped with the Tesseract, while everything else exists in the main timeline. The action was excellent, the fan service was appreciated and very well done, and the emotions were impactful and meaningful. I loved this movie 3000...

I think Steve told Bucky what was about to happen, and ONLY Bucky. Notice that he is the only one that says goodbye to Cap in that moment. Hulk and Sam expect to see him in the next minute or so, but Bucky says goodbye because he knows that not only could this possibly be the last time that they see eachother, but even if they do see eachother again, it would be the last time Steve sees him in decades. I also have a theory that Steve asked Bucky to be Cap first, but he refused due to his sins as Winter Soldier which I bet will be a source of conflict in their team up series. Which would also explain why Bucky tells Sam to go talk to him alone, and nods at him when Sam looks back. Because he knows that Sam is about to be gifted the Shield.

The “avengers Assemble” moment was the moment I was waiting for since I started reading marvel comic books over a decade ago when I was a little boy. What a fucking movie

I think one of the things that I’d have liked for them to have pointed out a bit better (or reminded us of) was Natasha’s relationship with Clint’s family. She was was an Aunt to the kids, and I’m sure she didn’t want to have to see them lose their dad. I’m just glad Cap wasn’t there to lecture them on how “we don’t trade lives”

If there had been an end credits scene the only one that would have made sense was after the credits a pullback from either Tony's funeral or after the battle at Avengers headquarters to show them being watched through a portal. This would introduce the cosmic entities like: The Living Tribunal, The Inbetweener, The Beyonder, Eternity, Infinity even Death not being happy with mortals interfering with space/time and deciding that something has to be done about it.

56:37 I still think that Steve's hands were really Stan Lee's hands doubling for them because we didn't see Steve's face in that shot and I don't think that even with modern technology that they could fake his hands when they shook Sam's hands. Also on second viewing, I think that Bucky knew that Steve was going to stay in the past because before Steve left, Bucky hugged him and said "Good Luck" and when Steve "returned," Bucky didn't look surprised to see him as an old man. Another great one, folks!

I'd be down for a Disney+ series that was either 6 or 7 episodes long where each episode followed Cap putting each stone and mjolnir back

One of my favorite shots was the lone Captain America looking across the valley at all of Thanos' forces converging, and then the sling rings begin to open... Chills, man, CHILLS.

I have heard people complaining about how pre-gauntlet Thanos was kicking the ass of the three main avengers. 1: In Infinity War, he was shown beating Hulk and Thor without the infinity stones (I do kind of think he was partially using the power stone, but I digress, the directors say different). 2: Wielding the stones took ALOT of concentration and effort so he wasn't at his full power/focus despite having the stones. Younger Thanos is unburdened with controlling the stones and keeping his focus. 3: His goal is in sight, his destiny is within his grasp, and he is lean and hungry. NOTHING is going to stop him now. THAT is the being that beat Thor, Cap, and Tony single handedly.

Tony didn't speak after his snap basically so that his actual last words would be "I am Iron Man" - the prerecorded speech from Tony's hologram avoids the Deadpool 2 death scene. Also, one of Hawkeye's kids is named after both Nat and Pietro, so Wanda and Clint have been close since Age of Ultron.

i think the movie with Thanos going into the future and nebula killing her younger self shows at least in the Marvel universe that it creates paradoxes or "people out of time" who no longer have an effect because they were removed from the normal law of things. it is like in the CW Flash show, Reverse Flash is still alive in the series and Legends of Tomorrow even though his distant ancestor the detective killed himself in season 1. Because Reverse Flash can time travel he is now removed from being affected by things

I loved seeing the 3 OG Avengers vs Thanos. It was such a fantastic finale, I have hope for the future but I’m happy if this would have been the ending of this journey everyone has been on since Iron man 1 back in 2008.

Christian Pereira honestly I liked it in Infinity War a lot more and I hope it’s short lived in Guardians 3. I think it’s funny but their Egos are better bounced off others who don’t challenge them with another big ego.

My one gripe is that I really really REALLY do not want a prequel for Black Widows solo film. I liked Captain Marvel But prequels are more headache than they are worth, plus I don’t care about a past adventure when I know her fate. I hope and trust the MCU braintrust to figure it out but that’s probably my only issue with the film and it’s not even an issue, its totally on me!

I gotta say, the moment cap caught Mjolnir, I like stood up and did like a guttural victory roar in the middle of the theater. It wasn't a scream, it was like from the stomach full diaphragm roar. Not to mention, Tony Starks last words are not "I Am Iron Man". They're "Hey Pepp" Also, Cap being there is not a plot hole. He used the time GPS to go back to the future while everyone was on their time heist. So he just walked his ass to the park and sat and watched the battle from his bench, knowing they would win
