This guy keeps trying to make the argument about what the most extreme lefty SJWs say about white privalage. This is a complete strawman of Destiny's argument. The argument is that, on aggregate, white people have more privilege is certain respects (but not necessarily all respects) than black people, or other non-whites. That's NOT to say that ALL white people are more privileged, however, which is the strawman that this guy keeps trying to force on the argument. There most certainly are some white people who are very under privileged, and even less privileged than some black or non-white people.

Well said. Like this is an example that I heard a while back but am not sure about the statistics following it, whites seem to have a higher rate of suicide. Whether that is scaled with the population or not I am unsure, I just heard it from someone. I'd say that is a privilege blacks seem to have over whites though I do feel a bit uncomfortable throwing out a blanket statement like that without knowing all the details. There could possibly be something more indepth about this im not seeing, I'll have to look deeper to see what's going on.

The way I view privilege is that first some people on the left tried to talk about oppression - these people are oppressed because they don't get to have the same opportunities as others, they lack the options, the representations, the fundings etc. Then some people on the right were like "WTF are you saying that we're oppressing them? There's no oppression going on in the USA, that's crazy. Everyone is equal under the law!" Then people on the left adapted, and instead started using the concept of privilege - If you are privileged, you have certain advantages that other people lack, that allow you to more easily succeed in life. Optimally, we would like all people to have these advantages and lift others up. And now some fringe crazies on the left are using the word "privilege" as a slur to accuse others of not having to put effort into their life, instead of the way it's supposed to be used. And a lot of people on the right are expanding that to the whole left, and saying "What do you mean I'm privileged?! I'm not evil, and I've worked hard for everything I have! Calling someone privileged is like oppression! Real privilege is not being called privileged!" I recently watched the South Park episode where Stan's dad is the "Niggerguy", and I feel like it's not only very funny, but also highlights some of these things. If you have privilege in a certain area, it can be hard to see what it's like for people who don't have it.

N-word Surfer if you think that’s bad, imagine living on the shit end of the privilege debate and being constantly told “I’m not privileged, you just need to stop victimizing yourself.” If it’s between being privileged and having to deal with people calling you privileged, vs not being privileged, having to deal with all that bs, and getting gaslit whenever you try to talk about it? Easy choice for me. This is why it’s a tad difficult for me to empathize with your perspective; it feels like anti-SJWs and skeptics only care about this issue as far as it affects them.

PROBLEM in Destiny's argument here (though I get why he says what he does.) It is more understood now that we SHOULD put all people through the same education/classes, but give people the resources they need to succeed. It's a very small distinction, but I think the research is there to push people away a bit from special education specific classes and more into paraeducators or other resources.

being pro-life is ignorant af because these people never take into account the effect on a child born into an inadequate home. foster care can be a good outcome for some but not in all cases and many children are neglected and abused. your literally preferencing the imaginary suffering/right to life of a fetus over the tangible and life long suffering of a human being which is straight up immoral.
@Yoshsterpalooza5 жыл бұрын
teachdontpreach but then you are quantifying life in your arbitrary point of view in that a child born into a foster home won’t every enjoy life and will probably never enjoy life so let’s kill it now without their consent and not allow them to live.... Great line of reasoning dude. What if someone told you they thought you have a shitty life and would kill u one day without any consent in your sleep to put you out of your misery because of their personal view of how enjoyable they perceive your life to be and therefore that somehow justifies them to take a life because they believe they will be doing you a favor by ending your life, because they believe you will never understand enjoyment or fulfillment. Do u see why this is a warped view? Imagine someone said “let’s kill black people because a lot of them obviously don’t enjoy life being born into shitty neighborhoods, so let’s kill them because we’d be doing them a favor” Like what?😂

If you take a 15 down to a 14 to bring a 5 up to a 10, you have actually INCREASED the average level from 10 to 12, so you actually refuted his point without even realizing it. Poor people become better people the less poor they are, society becomes more efficient. His entire premise is simply faulty. Higher wealth has incredibly diminishing returns because it only provides incredibly small degrees of incentive for uniquely talented people to do the necessary things they need to do for optimal social benefit. But lower wealth has MASSIVE returns because it makes poor people WAY better off than they were before in absurd factors.
@stuartp20066 жыл бұрын
At around 40:00, there's a discussion about improving poor schools wrt. privilege. Firstly, I'm not sure you can discount a social theory because you don't like the outcomes. Secondly, the education system is HEAVILY skewed towards the poor. The number of people in "good" schools is vastly smaller than the number of people in "bad" schools. Thus, his claim of attempting to "shift the curve" is almost exactly just helping the poor bad schools. He just doesn't conflate the two, which is technically if not practically correct.
@v5red7 жыл бұрын
I would suggest that people should stop using the term privilege. It plays well in the circles where people already believe in it, but you are not going to gain much traction with the people whose minds you seek to change. The term comes off as insulting, telling people that everything they have is unearned. I would suggest people stick with terms that are generally palatable like discrimination or disadvantage. If you talk about how people get unfairly poor treatment as opposed to accusing people of having a leg up in everything discussions will be more productive.

And some funds from the Ministry of education, science and sports that you can ask for to invest and build/repair if needed. And they can also ask Eu and local municipalities for funds. We have one mixed professional board for making public curriculum and one for making the per students head funding number each year. Even private schools need to have public curriculum and all kids need to attend it. Still private schools are cancer. Only private universties kinda make sense to allow. Not any lower education.
