Fascinating discussion. Compliment both discussants highlighting the intellectual issues. Compliments for their patience and focusing on issues rather than on their personalities, loved them. The discussion seems to focus too much on literal and the discussion needs to bring in the whole discussion of the verses they are quoting as symbolic, metaphorical and with much more esoteric content. I found Mufti Layth very generally taking a more symbolic stance and he does that job well. I urge him to look at a work called "A'lam al-Nubuwwah" by Abu Hatim al-Razi that supports his arguments so well. Jan-e-Alam Khaki

“If we evolved from a common ancestor with chimpanzees why do we still have chimpanzees?” - this question betrays a total lack of understanding of evolutionary theory. If you lack such basic understanding of what evolution is then you need to do much more research before you form an opinion on whether you accept it or not.
@ainaltair32174 жыл бұрын
Yep...science keeps changing. So, no need to read it into the Quran. But the language of Quran is such that it alludes to various interpretation. That doesn't mean it would effect the core beliefs and day to day life. However, no harm in studying and going along with scientific research and studies to the best of our understanding.

It is like: if we have electric-powered trains why do we still have petrol-powered and coal-powered ones. He simply doesn't understand
@muhdsyamil82984 жыл бұрын
@@ainaltair3217 there are several problematic arguments here but I'll address the last one. The reason its hard for science to reconcile with religion is because of the fundamentals of their operations. Religion, regardless of how much reason you put into it, at some point crumbles because it requires human to make such a huge leap of faith. While science when you arrive at a point of not understanding you don't make such baseless claims. You make hypothesis and the beauty of this is its testable and can be proven wrong. This is the biggest difference that separates science and religion: religion assumes a conclusion, and bends everything to make it work. Eg. Isa was born without a father, no scientific evidence in the history of human being has this occurred before. But the Quran isn't wrong, science still hasn't figured it out yet. Thus, science does not refute Quran. I used to try reasoning with Islam as well a few years back, but I can't keep lying to myself, its impossible to do so.
@ainaltair32174 жыл бұрын
@@muhdsyamil8298 I see your point though I disagree. Science with axioms and hypotheses keeps evolving over time. Scientists themselves say things work we developed technology, yet we fully don't understand how it exactly works. The laws of gravity as we understood worked to send man to the moon, then there is a whole paradigm shift in understanding gravity. Anyway, from the Quran some may interpret or understand about Isa (AS) differently - Mufti has covered it. I have my understanding based on comparing commentaries in english by 3 different scholars. Anyway, each person ponders and reflects differently. Peace!

Another good point made in this video, is most muslims accept "big bang" type begining is not problematic. Why can't they allow for life starting (abiogenesis) by itself i.e. Allah allows for very very rare set of circumstances coming together to start life - maybe this single first life - could be interpreted as nafsin wahida (one being). Allah does not change his sunnan (way).

My god, I feel sorry for Abdul Malik, he's like a ten year old being told Santa Claus isn't real. Anyways, there's another point of evidence to look at and it's the names of Allah that we have. We have Al-khallaq but we also have Al-Musawwir. If Allah always creates things instantaneously why does he have a name like Al-Musawwir which means the Fashioner? To be fair though a lot of muslims believe Allah always does things instantly when there's nothing idealogically wrong for Him to create things gradually through processes that He controls.
@Yameen2004 жыл бұрын
you forgot the al bari ie the evolver
@m.wilkinson95594 жыл бұрын
@@Yameen200 thanks for reminding me, but that's my point. Why would Allah have a name like Bari' if things always proceeded instantly from "be"? It's clear for example that the Earth itself has things that developed over eons like the Grand Canyon, rivers and continents. As muslims we just ascribe ultimate power to Allah as the one organising and controlling everything but things still happen gradually through processes. With the exception of the quantum realm we don't see things pop into existence.
@Yameen2004 жыл бұрын
@@m.wilkinson9559 The _be_ just is a way to convey pure will power or creation ex nihilo. Simple logic that such a powerful god (if he really is) could say be and a dragon could appear out of nothing or he could say be and a baby dragon starts growing & evolving.

Tough task distinguishing between belief in unseen matters and belief in all kinds of miracles read into the Quran because God is capable of doing so. The stories from Judaism and Christianity have crept in and been concretized to an extent that it is difficult for most Muslims to see it. Why do you want to break God's wonderful law? If you defend God's law, some say that you don't believe that God's power.
@Forevertheprophecy4 жыл бұрын
When it comes to like God following the rules that he has set in the Cosmo, he also says that there will be no prophets after Muhammad. So that is a rule that he created. So does that mean because he make that rule and because there will be no other prophet are we saying that God is now not capable of sending another Prophet if he wanted too?

Mufti in surah Maryam ayah 20. Mary told the angel that no man ever touched her, so saying that she was married to Joseph is nowhere found in Islamic sources. And your understanding of the sunnah of Allah is clearly wrong because Allah working through those rules is part of that sunnah. Foe eg. What was the punishment of quraish rejecting the prophet compared to other nations in the Quran
@Forevertheprophecy4 жыл бұрын
Right but that's when Mary was having the discussion with the angel. So at the time that Mary was speaking no man had touched her. Maybe their wedding had not happened yet, therefore the marriage was not yet consummated. Because even if Mary or any woman in general has the physical means to have a child, it will not happen unless Allah wills it to be. She could be intimate every day for 20 years and that doesn't necessitate she will have a child.

Hi cis, what your saying is true the Ayah clearly states it. But this isn’t unique to Mariam, if you rewind back a few Ayahs back to verse 7 - 9, you’ll find that Allah was telling Zakaria A.S. That will have a son, Zakaria couldn’t understand how and asks how in the ayah. Then, similarly, Allah tells him what he has told Mariam A.S. when she asked how, when no man has ever touched her. Allah of course knows best, but I hope my comment sheds some light.

Belief seems to be not attainable without use of reason is it not suggested by Allah in Quran 10:100 notwithstanding that no human being can ever attain to faith otherwise than by God's leave, and [that] it is He who lays the loathsome evil [of disbelief] upon those who will not use -their reason? 25:73 and who, whenever they are reminded of their Sustainer’s messages, do not throw themselves upon them [as if] deaf and blind;

Appreciate the logic and reasoning you bring to the table. This would really be of value and hold further weight if you could bring a credible scholar to have a similar discourse with, rather than the unfortunate paricipant here who clearly is way over his head and frankly confused. Keep up the good work and please try to find a suitable counterpart in order to progress the discussions. You yourself must get frustrated by the limited mindsets these guys tend to have?

Fantastic and more than anything it was completely civilised manner, you can disagree and still not disrespect eachother . I hope young Muslims with the knowkedge of Science will engage in a discussion with him ======================= Note:It is almost Slur to refer to the past Scholars of The Golden Age who used Reason and freewill as Mutazilites , Mutazilite was a term that derived from what his Senior used when Waseel ibn ata dusagreed and walked away , meaning he has left our circle , it would not make any sense to refer to a School of thought as he has left us or he has set himself apart . He was actually following the earliest Islamic branch known as Ahel - ar- Ray aka Ashab al ray . People of reason , common sense , logic and rationale, and by right his School should be refered as madhab Waseeliya , like all other madhabs . I am saying this becoz people should not get their wires crossed and start calling Mufti Abu Layt as Mutazilite. Actually he is gone back to the orignal root of Maliki , Imaam Maliki's were based on Reasons , like Imaam Abu Hanifa , his creed was Matrudi close to reasoning, but were all were based on Ahel Ar - Ray , people if reasons or logic. So I would refer to Mufti as , rather Ahel ray and a Malik Sunni .becoz his aqeeda is based on all three. Its my opinion I am impressed but yet want to clear more questions in my head . Thank you Mufti Abu layt Valued and appreciated. Fahim Sri Lanka

wow denying Virgin Birth? Actually, Iesa's own name as referenced in the Qur'an proves he has no human father - he's called *'Iesa son of [mother]'* - not of father, because of how he was born. The 'Second Adam' theology is wiped away on such denial - The Quran directly *compares Jesus to Adam* in terms of *how he came into existence* "Verily, the likeness of Jesus before Allah is the likeness of Adam. *He created him* from dust, then He said to him: 'Be! 'But wow yeah I never seen a Muslim deny that before because I think there is an ayat in the Quran that *specifically warns* NOT to accuse Mariam of such things or take on such beleifs without *GRAVE* consequences attached. I personally wouldn't do it. It erases the Messiah role, and him being the 'Word of God', and 'Spirit From God.' If you can believe in Gabriel, you can believe in other Spirits that come into humans like Adam and made into living. I really feel that denying the Virgin Birth is a real bad step. Look up Human Cloning and you will see how easy it is to do. The idea is, we can not even get into heaven with Iesa genetics. That's why it's so important. And to do this Mariam was required a virgin (Iesa is just a human clone of Mariam which ensures he is a new Adam that we all use to get us into heaven).

@@urdominus Why do you young guys, with inadequate background and experience and knowledge, say these kinds of things? Money is a token. What's current - as an intermediary token of exchange between a variety of real specific things (including intangible 'things' but which have perceived and expressed value) - HAS 'currency;' what's current has currency... And is called then, if it is being used as money (just the token aspect) currency. Money 'can be' 'might be,' and maybe 'should be' a store of value - and this is not so in hyperdeflation or hyperinflation where it's nominal store value is too fluid to be defined as having any quality of being a store of value. So no. You are wrong. As for my background, I worked in a Reserve Bank (IE a Central Bank), I am an economist, I have lectured economics at Universities, and, I have 'made some money in my life. Bitcoin is certainly NOT something made from out of nothing; it has an immense structural form standing behind it, and enormous internet and computing infrastructure intrinsic to its existence and use. Bitcoin is money, and it is a currency also. But you are entitled to believe whatever you choose. I will not stop you.

This 'light within' guy doesn't know anything. He has never used his head. He should've done some research before putting Mufti to the test. That being said stepping away from the miraculous birth of Isa (AS) is just a bad move on part of mufti. His reasoning in the matter is flawed. The miraculous birth is clearly implied. There is no denying it but It required a scholar well versed in the subject not some random dude in front of the Mufti

Even though I don't share the views of Light Within, I think he means that Allah created observable rules for humans and Allah has the capability to show His miracles to us within our observable universe. So, it is valid to believe in miraculous birth and resurrection of Isa. However, this would not conflict with the promise of afterlife as Allah is not going to change his laws with regards to it.
@Adrian-yf1zg4 жыл бұрын
Miracle could be understood like a really unlikely even, however still possible within the physical laws

@@Adrian-yf1zg I see your point. However, I think some may confuse metaphors or ambiguous words to be literal or definitive words and feel passionately attached to that interpretation. @@solsak836 The quran, just like the universe is allah's creation. If you believe the quran is 100% true, then it is irrational to believe god would go against one of his creations, more so to prove the other creation. Logically it doesn't make sense. It also doesn't make sense from a common sense perspective. Why would allah create such a vast universe with rules in place, but decide to break those rules just to show he can? In my opinion, it makes more sense that everything was set up from the beginning, Thermodynamics states that a system will always tend towards chaos, which means that the system will become more and more "unpredictable" as time goes on. This means a small change in the creation/setting up of a system, with enough time, can cause complex end results. Allah in his infinite knowledge has the ability to predict such events for hundreds of billions of years. Therefore, it's not unreasonable to assume that allah constructed the first atoms he placed in such a manner as to cause the miracles he mentions in the quran.

For those who are exploring whether Jesus has a father: Try listening to Dr Hany Atchan of the Marvelous Quran. Be open, spend time understanding his methodology & the Abrahamic Locution. I believe that Jesus is not born from a miraculous birth. And it doesn't make us any less Islamic, on the contrary a better muslim.
