Your fishing videos saved my life. A year ago I saw one of your bank fishing videos. It inspired me to go out and learn to fish. At that time I was 350lbs, at risk for diabetes and my doctor told me if I didn't lose weight it was going to kill me. I started walking my local rivers and lakes and I have lost 75lbs doing so. I'm no longer at trial for diabetes and am in the best shape I've been in the last ten year. Thanks for all you do and keep up the great work.

What you want to do with fish like this is to slice one or two onions. You need to do this the day before, salt and pepper the filet, layer the filets with onion slices in a non-reactive dish. First a layer of onion, salt/pepper filets, then onion, then filets, then onion, you get the picture.

Hi heres a tip. Prep up some fillets or cubed carp then sear to 1/2 cook then put aside. In a saucepan gently 1/2 fry crushed ginger and garlic then put aside. Dump into sauce pan 2 or 3 tins of chopped tomatos with a few chopped fresh tomatos then stew to reduce a little. Add a little brown sugar to reduce. When tomato is stewed well cooked then throw in the ginger and garlic to cook off then the fish. Add salt to taste. All elements unmeasured. Serve over rice. Carp is great baked too with olive oil, salt, cubed veges, garlic n ginger. If its cheap and u know how to cook then who cares as long as it feeds a family.

We fish a lot of lakes with stunted bass and eat carp we catch sometimes. The best way to get that fishy taste out is to “zipper” it and take the mud vein out that runs down the center of the fillet. After that you’re left with white meat and it’s hard to tell apart from other “better tasting” fish

Love the videos. We fish carp extensively here in Argentina. A way to help with the gamey taste is to brine the carp over night. Equal parts salt and sugar and throw in some brown sugar for some taste. What happens of course is the salt and sugar pull out a lot of water from the flesh as well as the gamey taste. Also, the meat gets firm and the y bones are exposed and you can tweezer them out. Also, we gill cut and put them on a line in the water so they bleed out. This help with that blood line in the meat. Hope this helps

You should try bleeding your fish after you catch it! Really helps with the fishy taste and the red part of the meat is nearly gone

Carps are noble fish in Europe, there is high quality equipment for them, carp fishing competitions, lakes for sport fishing carp, fish farms for meat, even fishing equipment stores have carp in their name.

Carp are fine to eat out of clean water. After all our ancestors from Europe brought them over here because they liked them. Most Americans don't like all of the hard to remove tiny bones Carp have mixed in with their flesh. Catfish, Bass, Bluegill & other natives are very easy to clean & good to eat without having all of the bone issues. So that's mainly why they're preferred over Carp at the table.

I've been thinking...what's a source of protein, fat (especially Omega 3's) and minerals i can obtain through my own means. I don't have land to farm and salmon aren't native here. Due to mercury, one HAS to consider the trophic level of a fish. So, something that doesn't really get past the 3rd or (maybe) 4th layer and gains size and weight that i can supply my family with for healthy fats and protein would be great. Also, i am thinking that if preserved right could provide Calcium.

Idk but I’ve always heard that if you want really good carp cook you should leave them alive and put them in clean water . Like spring water . Leave them swim in it for well the longer the better but at least a few hours . It supposedly takes the muddy taste out of the meat
