I tripped over my dogs while walking them and pulled my shoulder out! I went back in the house and got in the shower, with the warm water on it I was able to pop it back in! The most memorable part of the surgery was that nerve block! And after the physical therapy helped me get full mobility back again. All from walking the dogs

Was a klutz about 3 yrs ago. Slipped on some ice coming down the driveway. Tried to roll/throw myself into a snowbank but missed. Landed on my elbow which shattered and dislocated my shoulder, along with a comminuted fracture of the lateral humoral head. Talk about pain. Had surgery with plate and screws. Developed adhesive capsulitis which warranted a trip to a shoulder specialist. He also found a torn biceps when he did the surgery. Thankfully between the specialist and a great physical therapist, I have full range of motion and no pain.

I’m 75. Had auto accident 10 + years ago. Did not set off airbags but steering around to try avoid hit believe my left locked straight. At the time I was still very strong through sports but noticed soon after accident I had lost all strength in my arm went to Dr. Before I would settle with insurance company. Unfortunately my regular GP was away I was seen by young replacement who had me do curl while he held my hands down but I had no problem. I said I was getting it checked before I settled with other drivers insurance company. Possibly the Dr. was concerned about an scam but whatever he said I was not experiencing pain so I required no further action. I told hm I could not raise my left arm above shoulder height. He said that will go away. A couple of years ago I went to my original GP (still my GP and he checked by hands on top and had me raise upper arm. He explained he did feel unusual sensation telling him it was in incorrect position. Had it X-ray Edward as he was away again X-ray

Oh! This hit a nerve. For the first time in my life I had an accident where I felt I gave myself a permanent injury. I was rounding a corner on my bicycle and turned to go up a lawn past a tree, going up a small rise. There was a hollow spot in the grass and my bike stopped suddenly, making me fall forward against the side of the tree, where I drove my right shoulder into a burl on ground level, hearing a tearing sound and feeling a lot of pain. I was happy just to lie there and not move, but I didn't want people across the street to see that. I won't describe the pain and limited motion with less pain, just saying it started to feel better. What surprised me was feeling a pain start to go down the side of my arm, now seeing it as the tendons or ligaments that used to be joined to my shoulder, people saying I tore my rotator cuff, something like that. And no, even though I'm 70 it wasn't an old man mistake. It was a new friend and a new lawn, just a mistake. After I dislocated my left knee when I was fifteen, when it popped out again I would do it myself. My family doctor said if I wore a tension bandage for a year I might grow beyond that, and he was correct. I was born a month overdue by natural childbirth, from a clan system that can talk about being non-smokers and non-drinkers as ancestral beings. I was also born on May the 1st, being a May-Day baby, with a celestial sign. When I talk about that working for me those who are with me understand. I'm here for you, as much as you're here for me. You can psyche yourself into healing, if you want to. Family name Watt, clan name Buchanan, in Gaelic Canonach, formerly House of David. Bay-an-uck-let, blessings on you.

I lifted up a mower and hurt by right shoulder. Had an MRI done and was told it was de-centered , with osteoporosis and arthritis damage. It does hang much lower than my left shoulder. Surgery was recommended however I chose to just live with the discomfort and an careful how I use that arm. I’ve never heard of a de-centered shoulder before. Do you have advice to strengthen it.

Not sure what decentered means. Physio is your best bet. Often a combination of deltoid and rotator cuff exercises

My shoulder first popped out at 21 playing hockey. I reached up to do a slapshot and BAM it was out. It went back in and I was good. I'm 62 now and it has popped in and out at least 10 times. Always reaching up in some form or way. I saw a surgeon at 22 and he said there was no way he would operate as I would probably wreck any corrective surgery. Ummm what do you know? I have been on here before and I have learned a lot about this. My shoulder is pretty much a mess now and at 62 I really don't want to be laid up for 6 months and months of therapy. I'm retired and I have better things to do!! LOL

I dislocated my shoulder in a motorcycle accident when I was 20. It was ‘out’ for 8 hours! (British National Health System!!). It kept dislocating until I had a ‘Putti-Platt’ procedure on it some five years later. I was strapped up for three months after the op and had no follow up physio whatsoever. I’m 63 now and I still have pain in the shoulder, especially in cold weather. I was told by a specialist in Australia that I have no cartilage in my shoulder. Moral of the story? I have a question. My husband’s right toes are turning dark purple and swelling and is painful. It first started in his little toe and moved from there to the next toes. He also had his right knee scoped about 20 years ago. Well now his right knee either jumps out of place or something bc he can’t walk. It swells up huge and is red all the way around the knee and the back of the leg. He had an ultrasound done on the arteries of leg and they said he has PAD. Is the reasoning of his toes turning dark purple due to blockage and no circulation or is it something else?
@TalkingWithDocs2 жыл бұрын
Hi Leslie. It is hard to say over the internet but common things being common it could be caused by PAD. This typically leads to Color changes, coolness and sometimes cramping. Best of luck. Thanks for watching and subscribing

Went to ER they tried to take a x-ray by pushing my shoulder down.. screams came out of me and gave me morphine. Hi Dixie. We can add it to the list. The surgery is often laparoscopic. It is serious as you are essentially removing a bag of adrenaline so anesthesia works to keep your heart rate and blood pressure under control. After surgery most patients do well. Should definitely discuss this stuff with your surgeon though. Thanks for watching and subscribing and good luck!

Hi Talking with Docs. Thank you for a very informative video on a part of the body that sometimes gets overlooked. I have a very sore left shoulder, it’s really sore!!! I haven’t had any dislocation/trauma, but noticed it after carrying very heavy shopping over a period of over an hour. It gets so bad I can’t sleep at night sometimes. I’ve not bothered to see my GP, as I’ve not had a fall or anything like that. Is it possible to have arthritis in the shoulder? I’ve not heard of this, but as I have arthritis in my knees, ankles & wrists then surely the shoulder would be the next joint to get it?…as I’ve said I’ve lived with it for about 4 years now and just take it as a natural progression of aging. I’m 58 now, so it would have started at age 54. Love your videos, logical, but funny with 2 dishy docs & their colleagues. I have seriously developed something for men in scrubs, since watching your video. 😃ALL THE BEST FROM YOUR FANS ACROSS THE POND😍
