Thank you for a break from the virus that shall not be named. I love that you guys focus on conservative, non operative treatment first. And also leave MRI's for when it is truly necessary. Our healthcare system is under enough stress. Feel free to have Haverstock as a regular guest 😏😆

Very informative. There is so much more info on hips, knees and ankles than about the shoulder. I watched your video on Rotator Cuff injuries and found it terrific too. Could you do something on "frozen shoulder"? What it is? What causes it? Why it seems to resolve itself in 7-9 months? Thanks for this!

Not all frozen shoulders resolve on their own. Some, due to the cause, require surgery and intensive therapy to heal. I know, I was one of those people.

Thanks …it was helpful. Second dislocated shoulder today, last one 3 days ago wile pushing a very heavy load on a downward angle…extremely ez the 2nd time… was off guard, did not wear sling and was drying off after shower. I had some Chardonnay too which I think caused me to lose that extra caution and got over confident when it started feeling better on day 3. Of feel very mentally frustrated that I was so careless. Horrible injury to live through and deal with. Doc said x ray looked good and referred me to rehab and ultrasound.

@@TalkingWithDocs I am 46 and had a full dislocation. Recalling my history, I have had partial dislocations where it popped back in when doing various tasks with my arms at awkward angles. This time I was pushing a trailer on a downward angle with full force of my body, and it just slide out. I had it reduced, and 3 days later while showing and letting my guard down a bit, it dislocated again when I tried to lift a towel up to dry. Xray shows no broken bones and ultrasound showed no ligament pathology. I found your video very helpful to describe the mechanism. One serious question I have is as I wait for an appointment for to see an orthopedic surgeon, should I try some physio. I have elected to do some basic ones, but have also been told to NOT do so until I see the surgeon. What say you doctor? Thanks

Hi Dr. Brad, Hi Dr. Zalzal, Hi Dr. John H. Yes I certainly understand. I must get strong to loose the cane in my left hand. This is a great opportunity for me to finally finally get some rest from it all and exercise exercise properly. The cane in my left hand is becoming a problem concerning my left shoulder. Starting to become unstable. I have been depending on the cane when I am tired way too much. Sublux yes. Not pain but trying to pop. Restricting the actual movement that makes it want to pop. It has not fully popped yet. The cane is the issue. Thank you very very much for your video here. It reiterates exactly what I must do. Thank you Dr. John H. And thks Dr. Brad and Dr. Zalzal. Stay healthy and safe and many cyber hugs Dr. Brad and Dr. Zalzal! See you soon.😊💞👍👍. P.S. Ohh my gosh Dr. Brad I almost forget to tell you. Since the environment is getting cleaner my right side is not in soo much pain. Its fantastic. Still painfull in my leg but way way better. The globe is in repair and so am I. The silver lining you might say. Sensitive. Feel it all. Interesting. This one even I would not have believed but very true. Feeling much much better. Thank you Dr. Brad and Dr. Zalzal you are the best!!😊💞👍👍

Ok I'm now COMPLETELY SHOCKED 😲 !!! I definitely need this guest Dr to see my shoulder. My record is 16 times in 8 weeks very painfully, it's FULL of arthritis and haven't been able to lift arm from side in almost 5yrs. I've been waiting this long for a Specialist and MRI an MRA while shooting shoulder full of steroids so it can move at all. It's also my dominant arm/hand. Can you help me find someone?
@TalkingWithDocs
@TalkingWithDocs 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacqueline. Sorry to hear you are having a difficult time. Best advice is to see your local GP/nurse practitioner who can then refer you to a shoulder specialist. If you are in a smaller center, you can consider going to a University or tertiary care center to get more specialized care. Hope that helps. Best of luck. Thanks for watching and subscribing if you did.

Ha,ha, I thought you two had dressed up because it was Sunday! Best thing I did to 'prepare' for the pandemic was to get my haircut two days before Ontario went into lockdown mode- great timing! I was wincing as I was listening to your guest describe the procedure for relieving a shoulder dislocation and can imagine that having it "popped back in" is also quite painful. Could your guest comment on any preventative steps that one could take such as certain exercises to strengthen the shoulder joint and maybe prevent such an occurrence from happening ( bar being shoved,etc.)?
@TalkingWithDocs
@TalkingWithDocs 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chryseas. In order to improve stability of your shoulder, physiotherapy would involve strengthening the muscles of your rotator cuff. We will do our best to get one of our physiotherapists to do a video that can outline this. We suspect there are many other resources online that could show it but they would not be as entertaining as our site : ) Thanks for watchign

My son has this and threw a ball as a teen and did first dislocation and had to wait 4 hours before they gave any pain relief as they said had to have X-ray first and it was horrible. Now had fusion surgery after 5th time backwards dislocation not forwards like the other times . His Opp was done in 30s. I feel maybe we have some EDS stuff as he is very flexible as am I .
@TalkingWithDocs
@TalkingWithDocs 4 жыл бұрын
Hi ninjanicnic. Yes if his dislocation was posterior there are likely other causes that make conventional treatments less successful. Sorry to hear about his struggles. Thanks for watching.
@1packatak
@1packatak 3 жыл бұрын
No excuse for not medicating him for pain!!!! There is no xray or MRI or CT in the world that has to be done before giving pain meds. In fact, giving appropriate pain management will allow the patient to be more comfortable during xrays and you will get better results.

Hello. So if your shoulder has dislocated 4 times it is always a good idea to strengthen the muscles of your rotator cuff however it is common that you would require stabilization surgery due to the number of times it has come out. Best of luck to you. Thanks for watching and subscribing if you did.

@TalkingWithDocs
@TalkingWithDocs 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rohit. If your shoulder has dislocated 15 times, it is unlikely that it will heal with exercise. Often the capsule and other soft tissues get very stretched. Our best advice would be to get assessed by a shoulder surgeon to talk about the best options. Good luck. Thanks for watching and subscribing if you did.
