Here’s an interesting tidbit: “Dracula” in this comic is portrayed by classic Disney comic villain the Phantom Blot. He’s essentially a criminal mastermind who often antagonizes Mickey. He’s made appearances in some animated series including recently in the Ducktales reboot, though vastly different than his original incarnation. It’s easy to not notice since he usually wears a black robe and mask, but that’s what he looks like underneath.

In Italian Disney comics he's very present, with the name Macchia Nera (The Black Blot) This comic was made by Bruno Enna and Fabio Celoni, and some of the characters, like the Quincy Morris expy, are from the Italian Topolino comics

The cow that plays Lucy is known as Clarabelle. Also, interesting that Disney takes on the tale of dracula, there's an infamous cartoon that's kind of creepy where Mickey's brain got or body got switched with of a maniacal bloodthirsty demon.

I remember that, Runaway Brain. Was Julius a demon though? I always saw him as more of a Frankenstein figure, even down to needing a brain. Either way, it's a surprisingly creepy Mickey cartoon.

I actually dig this story and Mickey’s integration here, it brings to mind the early Mickey of the classic shorts when Mickey would be on these adventures rather than seeing Mickey in everyday life. It’s easy to mock Mickey and his wholesomeness these days but there was a time when Mickey’s status as an everyman could put him in any situation.

Funny, another commenter and I were just talking about that. I always liked that aspect of Mickey, the fact that he can fit into any story and it comes across as natural. Mickey could do anything he set his mind too, except maybe handling a couple of sentient brooms... Ah well, neither could Jay Baruchel.

Disney parodies of the classics (movies, literature and whatnot) are a staple of Disney comics here in Italy, they even made a series harback collected editions (they are usually published in installments in Topolino, our own Mickey Mouse anthology comic weekly) multiple times. Particularly notable is "L'Inferno di Topolino" (Mickey Mouse's Inferno or Hell if you prefer) which is a parody of the Divina Commedia with captions written in the original poem meter. I kind of lost sight of them for a while so I didn't know they made Dracula too.

Why? Do you know how popular Disney Duck and Mice comics are, mostly in Europe and South America? They are most red comics in the world. What’s odd how in US where they originated they lost popularity and that Linkara hasn’t done classic stories like Barks ones or Don Rosa who is popular now.

This is actually a part of a series of parody stories based on literary classics. Among others, there's Moby Dick, Treasure Island and for the more horror-inclined, Frankenstein (where the monster is made from cardboard) and Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde (where Donald is Hyde to Mickey's Jekyll).

Also, I wish they'd make more House of Mouse, given there hasn't been a House of Mouse project in years. I liked the show, the only time they ever really disappointed me was House of Villains. They build up this huge, awesome premise of the villains taking over the club, only for Jafar to show the same cartoons before getting into a lame-@$$ duel with Sorcerer freak'n Mickey? That ending should've been like Fantasmic at Disneyland, wouldn't it have been awesome to see on Magical Mickey take on giant snake Jafar or somethin'?!

Clarabelle Cow is basically the most prominent of the minor disney cartoon cast. While not a household name, she's much more likely to appear in a semi-important role than other minor characters like Horace Horsecollar or Clara Cluck. She's often used as a love interest for Goofy if he requires one in a story but I wouldn't really call them pair in the way Mickey and Minnie or Donald and Daisy are.

@@wab2100 Of the stuff I've seen her in, she's usually a love interest for Goofy. Granted, I mostly only seen the more modern stuff she's shown up in. If she's often paired with Horace in older cartoons or the comics, I wouldn't know.

At least in the Italian comics I grew up reading Horace is kinda clueless and too obsessed with his home improvement projects to hold a serious relationship. The Goofy pairings I've seen were mostly in "non-canon" stories like this one, but I'm surely missing a lot of material.

Phantom Blot was Dracula here and Clarabelle the Cow is Minnie’s friend and she is from some Disney shorts originally and Peg Leg Pete is older character than even Mickey. The other characters are from Mickey comics too but I don’t know their names in English and their roles are not mentioned much anyway.

The cow lady is Clarabelle Cow, her boyfriend is Horace Horsecollar. Both are more regular features in the European (mostly Italian and Scandinavian) Donald Duck comics

I'm a big fan of these European Disney comics. They really do so much more with the characters than we do. The US just turns them into race car drivers for a decent preschool show. I have the Don Quixote and Frankenstein comics, yet haven't got around to reading them. Apparently, they also have a Christmas Carol featuring Scrooge that has NOTHING to do with the Mickey Mouse version.

If Dracula is jonesing for Hot Blood he needs to go to Japan. They have no shortage of Hot Blooded Idiots there. Just avoid the ones that happen to pilot Super Robots that are not plot devices. The Disney Duck and Mouse comics often do these kinds of adaptations of classics. I have red ones about Odyssey, Gone With the Wind, Pride and Prejudice, Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Mr Jekyl and Mr Hyde and Frankenstein for example. And some “adaptations” are lot looser and just inspired by some idea from the story or are semi-sequels.0
