Apes actually do know how to use tools, lots of them use sticks, and even cover them in in honey (or shit) and stick them in termite and any hills to get a ton of insects out to eat. The real issue is their bodies aren’t proportioned the same ways our our, so they can’t utilize tools as effectively as we can. They’re too top heavy and can’t get the same range of motion or strength in a throw of something like a rock or spear that humans can. Not to mentioned they can’t make stuff like spears, they can’t strategize as well as we can, so it all just plays against them

13:59 if I’m not mistaken this is set during a time where Europeans had only heard secondhand about gorillas and they were basically cryptids but I could be very wrong and be thinking of a time slightly before when real (Jane? I know her name starts with a j) went out and actually studied gorillas

In retrospect Jane was so funny in this movie. Props to past Disney for taking the damsel in distress trope and doing a somewhat subversion by having Jane be the unluckiest woman in the world, having normal human reactions, and being a lil goofy.
