Dude, the way his parents are killed sounds like some 'man vs nature' horror movie premise. Like it's so tragic and brutal, this cute couple thinks they find refuge after a shipwreck. They start a family and get life going, only to get mauled by some huge f--k off cat. Like that Florida Flooding Alligator movie (Crawl), or Cujo, or Jaws, or Anaconda. I could see a bleak A24 or a crappy Blumhouse film being made based on that premise. I don't think a whole lot of people made too many exotic cat horror/thrillers.

Apes actually do know how to use tools, lots of them use sticks, and even cover them in in honey (or shit) and stick them in termite and any hills to get a ton of insects out to eat. The real issue is their bodies aren’t proportioned the same ways our our, so they can’t utilize tools as effectively as we can. They’re too top heavy and can’t get the same range of motion or strength in a throw of something like a rock or spear that humans can. In retrospect Jane was so funny in this movie. Props to past Disney for taking the damsel in distress trope and doing a somewhat subversion by having Jane be the unluckiest woman in the world, having normal human reactions, and being a lil goofy.
