Agatha All Along is Marvels new spin off of the Wandavision spin off. If that sounds incredible to you, you might be the only one! This show will be a comedy musical with apparently so many different genres, it's hard to even list all of them. Yet despite it's glowing social media first impressions, Marvel haven't allowed critical reviews to be published until the show is actually released. This hasn't stopped review bombing of 5 star customers who can't have seen the as yet unreleased show though. The red carpet reviews have been hilarious given that many of the actresses didn't seem to care about the show at all. With responses this funny not seen since Madame Web, this show is going to be funny for all the wrong reasons. But what did you think of what you saw? Agatha is a grandmother in the comics. Her son had a multiracial brood of children who became enemies of the Fantastic 4, the Salems 7. Agatha was Franklin Richards nanny. She helped Firestar when she was flung back in time by the Sphinx, and was Wanda's mentor and helped her contain the magic energies she used to make her fake kids, of which one is a male clone of her, the other is a clone of Quicksilver. Vision wasn't involved in their creation at all. The MCU turned her into a snarky young looking "villain," of which Wanda was the actual villain. They messed Agatha up. They messed Wanda up. They're messing up so many characters, especially in this show

Ironically, the best presentation of Agatha Harkness in recent multimedia was in the Midnight Suns video game. Properly old, properly bitter, properly powerful, but also an interesting character because the conflicts that she had to deal with were largely internal and character driven. It's a shame that game got panned so heavily because I really enjoyed it.

Having a gay character (or actor, not that they have to be the same person) isn't a new thing. It isn't anything to be ashamed of but it's also not something to be proud of. The show has to have something besides the sexuality of it's characters for viewers to get excited about. Talk about the plot, the special effects, the lore, SOMETHING that makes this show stand out and be worth watching. I'm genuinely surprised that almost no one in these comments knows who Patti LuPone is. (A Tony-winning Broadway actress who has also done TV in the past, and been a lot more invested in the projects.) She's also really good and really funny, although I doubt this show will utilize those talents at all. But then again, comics fans care about as much about theater as Patti LuPone cares about the MCU, and that's all completely fine, people are allowed their specific tastes.

The disdain everyone has for what Marvel used to mean to people and continuity never ceases to amaze me. You don't necessarily have to like it. You are an actor and can fake you role as needed, but you can do a better job if you know why your character acts the way they do and how they effect the over arcing world. This flies completely in the face of one of my favorite stories of how Sir Patrick Stewart had a voice roll in Oblivion. Bethesda sent him a 90 page backstory for his character and were afraid it was too much. He credited it as one of his favorite roles because of it, and his character didn't make it past the tutorial. Different time, different integrity.

Another example of doing it right, Matt Smith of Doctor Who fame, he wasn't a Doctor Who fan, he never watched it as a child. But once he got the role he went back and watched all the older Doctor Who series up to the latest, all to inform himself of this iconic character he would be playing. It worked he has elements of many past Doctors but also made it his own. That is not only respect for the art of acting but also to the show and fandom, many of whom had doubts about him.

Stewart also went absolutely ham on those couple voice lines he got. Really brought out the Shakespearian tone for it. Which fits the atmosphere of the game quite well. Sean Bean did an amazing job voice acting Martin.

I remember the actress who played Susan Storm admitting she knew nothing about the character etc. So she went to a comic book store to do her research. The staff asked her what era of Sue and she didn't know. She went back and asked the movie people which Sue she should be reading up on. She was told not to bother as their Sue wasn't any of them.

These shows are called “gay” not because they show a number of scenes that are off-putting to the straight audience, not because they show a lifestyle that is not understandable or acceptable to the straight audience, but because there are a couple of thow-away lines, acid hairstyles, maybe some akward sex scenes... But in the end it turns out that even Game of Thrones or some other series have more gay stuff, but did not cause the same alienation among the majority.
