Did anyone catch how the officer says "I wouldn't" and "You should leave that up to her" when the boyfriend asks if he should call her parents. I just have to point that out, too, as super respectful advice of him to give the boyfriend. He's absolutely right that it should be her own choice to tell her parents or not as she is an adult. So not only is this officer recognizing this young lady as a human being, but also as an adult capable of making decisions for herself. And he doesn't patronize her throughout the video. I have to say this is one of the best officers I've ever seen in any of these videos, and I hope he gets a pay raise. Let him be the example of all the good officers that are out there. Folks, they really do exist.

Upper middle class suburbia entitlement is strong in this one. I finally got sober in 2019-2021. Was coming up on 2 years clean and ready to pick up my 2 year AA chip until my father passed. Now I'm back on the bottle watching these videos, ashamed of myself. So true. We see some gruesome stuff. We hear a lot about the people that pass away in an accident and how their body was mangled or something like that. But it’s when people hear about someone surviving a brutal car crash, the mind goes to “thank GOD they’re alive!” which is true but people don’t think about what it’s like to be in an accident and how their body is mangled but they’re *still alive.* It’s horrible. I can’t even imagine what it would feel like to be in some of these car accidents and how many could have been avoided if people just got an Uber. Or got a DD. Or just stayed home. But instead, they disabled themself for the rest of their life and killed the mother and her child in the car in front of them that WERE safely driving. People, please don’t drink and drive. It’s not pretty.

I don’t think she is acting this way because she is a spoiled brat, her boyfriend explained to the officer that she is apparently dealing with something major. They blurred out what he was saying but it could be a death in the family, who knows, combine that with being drunk and immature and it’s not a good combination.

Honestly she is so needlessly rude, I also have thoughts to kill myself quite regularly, but I don't treat respectful polite people like this. It's partially teenage angst but she's also one year away from being an adult, and is throwing the emotional angst temper tantrum of a 16 year old which is quite alarming, she's going through something yes, but she's actively going through it so likely she will just get deeper into using it as an excuse to be destructive to herself & others.

Look, I agree that she didn't understand the gravity of the situation, but she was drunk and stressed out and yet 10 times more reasonable and cooperative than many of the people I've seen in this kind of footage. The cop did a great job of matching her energy. He was calm to de-escalate, but firm when he needed to be. He was almost like the "perfect dad". Treating a 6 ft tall Hell's Angel like this wouldn't work, but in this situation, where it was her first offense and she seemed clueless and childish, this was a great response.

It's not the police's job to punish people for their crimes. They gather evidence and the judicial system deal with the punishment. If she were hungry or sick they would be responsible to take care of her. The police are required to feed and provide medical care when needed. That said this cop was sure nicer than the cops I've delt with even though I hadn't committed a crime. I even had one cop say "We make the mistake but you apologize." This was long be fore body cams were a thing so cops weren't as well behaved as they are now.
