I had this done to both my legs. My left was a breeze my right well that ended up being a big surgery. As I also tore my ACL so my dr and his partner decided to do both surgeries on my right knee. During surgery the inner side of my knee shattered they had to rebuild it. It took a long time for me to heal. But I am truly happy to have two straight legs again.

I just had this surgery a couple of weeks ago. It is painful and you cant walk on it of course and have to stay off of it for 6 weeks. But it's worth it. My leg is straighter than before and this procedure will limit the risk of tearing your ACL or meniscus, due to the added pressure of having knocked knees has on your legs.

How long did it take for u to walk on and for it to heal
@lindsayyoung38963 жыл бұрын
@@user-zd4ex1ew6o This type of surgery takes about 12 weeks to put full weight on it. You have to be on crutches up until 8 weeks and than you start to slowly put weight on it until 12 weeks when you don’t need the crutches no more. But it depends on the person as well. If your not healthy than it will take longer for it to heal. Also the whole bone itself takes at minimum 6 months to heal properly. So you can’t do high intensive activities for a little while. But also if you’re healthy the bone will heal faster.

My daughter had surgery for a SCFE almost 5 years ago and we noticed after this her knee started to turn. Last June she has a second surgery for the scfe and just last week started coming off crutches due to the bone taking so long to heal. During these last ten months the turn has become much more pronounced and her other knee is turning some as well. Her surgeon is waiting for her hip/femur to finish healing and then I fear she is going to need this surgery at least on one knee. I am so nervous after the complications of her last surgery.

Hi Caroline, I haven't been diagnosed but my legs definitel ycause me a lot of issues and I'm trying to get diagnosed by the NHS but they are just ignoring me. Iam convined I have a femoral rotation (turning inwards) and an external tibial torsion! how did your surgery go? I currently can't really do any lower body exercises, (I only do yoga for my lower body but I still can't do everything and any amount of stretching doesn't really seem to improve the issue).
@carolinedavis17305 жыл бұрын
Both surgeries went pretty well and are doing great! I had mine about five years ago. I’m from the U.S., so I can’t give any tips on how to get diagnosed over in the UK. But I would def request an MRI.
@raefituk9185 жыл бұрын
Caroline Davis thanks so much for the reply! They’re honestly awful in the UK I basically had to beg just for an MRI of my hips but they really didn’t want to give me one! They tried giving me exercises with one physiotherapist (as they said I needed strengthening) but it just made everything worse. The second physio (which even took nearly a year to get referred to) give me exercises for internal rotation which just caused more pain and they said my calves were just tight 👀. I’ve recently come off a yoga teacher training and nearly been going to the gym for 4 years 😂 I think if something was just tight I would know how to fix it lol! I’m moving country soon so I will definitely put that forward and I really hope I can get one of my full leg! As it’s so frustrating. The current sports scientist I am under just ignored me when I said the bones could be twisted and they said try the insoles and night time brace. 😅 any exercise on one leg for example a warrior 3 or dancers pose on my left leg I can barely bend forward. Thanks for the advice! I’m glad you’re doing well after the surgeries 🙌.

what is the margin of error on these procedures? I saw on the youtube video of the gif linked below that a line is used to align from the head of the femur to the ankle, so as Xrays dont seem to be involved, I believe the surgeon will have to estimate where are the bones thus producing an error to where the exact bones are. Been looking for surgeries or treatments for my bow legs, it's a bit hard for me to walk fast or run cause by the second I walk or run my feet just rotate inwards and I unintentionally trip myself. Can't stand on two feet cause one of my feet will hurt but could technically stand if I only use one and put my other feet at the side of my other knee like I'm doing yoga. Ironic enough I have a good sense of balance but will trip myself by my own feet 😂

Can Knock Knees be cured without surgery, like using braces? What doctor should I go to? thanks in advance.
@HSpecialSurgery8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jake- The best non-surgical treatments are aimed at reducing the risk of arthritis development in the knee. This includes maintaining a low body weight, keeping fit while avoiding high impact activities, and bracing. These treatments will not change the knock knee deformity, but they will help in reducing the functional problems associated with the deformity. Consult with a physician about the best treatment for you. If HSS is the destination of choice, you can contact our Physician Referral Service at 888-720-1982. Best of luck!

To prevent having to have these surgeries and/or knee replacements braces should be used during childhood, when alignment is set but not so much that the braces cannot correct it during further growth. Problem is much worse for women because of their wider hips.

I wish this wasn't true, but these osteotomy surgeries ruin people's health and that of all the other people who have them done. The bone where they sawed afterwards doesn't stick properly anymore, it gets weak and it will slide little by little and sink inwards with time. I believe that a bone scar is left or for some other reason I don't know. Maybe it is left with little room to regenerate and becomes weak or another reason. It is not the same as a normal fracture where afterwards the bone becomes normal again. When you sawed it, or break it with a chisel, in this case it is different. The bone is left with a problem afterwards. Then the person gets all twisted because of this, as the bone sinks, it ends up twisting or sinks all the other bones of the body. If they do it in the lower limbs. But everywhere, it ends up disturbing people. Besides that, the nerves around where they do this also sink and leave their original place, and then the person starts to feel everything altered and only starts to feel bad things afterwards. Both in the external environment and in the body itself because of this. This surgery is a mistake in medicine, just as there are mistakes in any other profession. I don't know how it hasn't been forbidden until today, with so many people getting bad afterwards, I'm pretty sure all of them. It doesn't matter if it is done on the nose, leg, foot, heel, people end up getting bad the same way. I hope this comment helps. Take great care, health is very precious. After we lose it, our life becomes very difficult, and so does the life of the people around us, who end up being affected as well. A hug.
