As a proud Texan I like to think of Scotland as the Texas of The UK or maybe Texas is the Scotland of The USA. I'm not sure. The most important thing to note from this video is that all these head distillers of so many different types of whiskey, not one of them picked a rare, expensive, ridiculous whisky. They all picked perfectly affordable and findable bottles, predominantly scotch. I find it equally amazing and fantastic that Glenfiddich 12, Highland Park 12 and Caol Ila 12 were all mentioned as the distillers favourite, they're all incredible whiskies but they're seen as just run-of-the-mill bottles that anyone can get. Maybe the time had come for us to stop chasing (and creating) unicorn bottles, and just enjoy the glorious water of life that is presented to us.

The Ardbeg Uigeadail was my first ever whisky ever in Scotland when I was 18 studying bagpipes given to me by my instructor. I've played them for my whole life and trying this scotch really gave me confidence that I wanted to continue the art form forever because now I'll have to go back to Scotland, Isle of Islay, Skye, Fort William, a lot more times just to drink scotch.

There was a sake specialty shop in Tokyo that also sold rock salt. They had a wood drawer cabinet filled with different types of salts. @@m13thompson13 There is a cinnamon/allspice flavor that I get from most all Willett products that I just LOVE. I think a lot of the more pretentious whiskey fans like to crap on Willett Pot Still Simply because it is very "smooth", but that doesn't take away from all the flavors that are to be had there,.. just like most Islay Scotches go down "smooth" but they are certainly NOT lacking in flavor. If Willett Pot Still is too low proof, then try Rowan's Creek. Kentucky Vintage, or Noah's Mill,... ALL awesome Willett distillery whiskies in my opinion. I was born and raised in Bardstown Ky. Bourbon capital baby!!! I actually lived next to Barton’s distillery. There were times it smelled so good outside. But then when they cleaned out the tanks it was a tough smell. I guess growing up there is why I’m a bourbon drinker but I’ve expanded to Irish whiskey lately. I’ve tried to get into scotch but there’s something in it I can’t get past. It may be the peat. I’ll still keep trying though.

I’m convinced now that whiskey has direct correlation with awesome beards. Because I could barely grow dirt on my upper lip until I started drinking whiskey. Now have a mustache/goatee that some people would kill for

This was such a great episode. I say this with the least possible amount of snark - That explains so much about Treaty Oak.

I love that one of these bottles was one that I not only already had on my shelf, but that I was drinking just last night! (HP12) I am still a whiskey noob and it was difficult to identify the profile of this whiskey, so it's awesome to see what experts say about it. Now I know how to identify malt, because it's a big characteristic of HP12.

Looks like 4 out of 5 bourbon distillers prefer Scotch! And pretty reasonably priced Scotch at that. You can get 3 of those bottles for around £25 to £35 in the UK.

It happens with brewers too, lot's of brewers have a lager as a favourite beer they continuously go back to, usually is because it's different to what they brew (and sample on a day to day basis) and brings back memories as most people starts with lagers So we might be into something similar here, they go back to scotch because it's different to what they do

I'm surprised to see all the 12 YO Scotch there. I suspect if they drink more 18 YO or higher, then, they may have to quit their job and move to Scotland. LOL...

As per the ads, I get it and respect why you added them. But a youtube ad played in the middle of your in-video ad. I dont know if you guys have any control of when ads get played, but it pulls away from the in video ad to watch an ad about a new car

I understand about looking for higher ABV because I'm a REALLY BIG FAN of higher ABV REALLY DARK ales, porters and stouts. In truth I've only recently started appreciating hard liquors, mainly whiskeys and bourbons. The one that really got me interested is Tin Cup whiskey. If I could ever find and afford it is Horse Soldier whiskey. I would really love it you could try it so I could experience it vicariously through you on KZbin.
