I remember when their first record came out and some dude gave me the CD (probably from Napster or Kazaa ... ) and he was raving about it like he just heard Raining Blood for the first time. I don’t know if it’s because we’re lockhorns deprived but i enjoyed the contrasting views on this album that provided for an interesting dialogue (locking horns XD). I consider myself to be similar to Dylan, i like disturbed and i’ve gotten into metal through gateway bands, but from the excerpts and summaries I’m not impressed with Disturbed’s latest effort so I agree with Blayne’s criticisms. Even though I haven’t listened to the album i’m wondering if Blayne’s rating was too harsh. I have a hard time believing that this album was worst than Machine head’s latest and Suicide Silence’s albums. In summary, BRING LOCKHORNS BACK! Skype people in and do lockhorns global!
@JaconSamsta6 жыл бұрын
I listened to it briefly and well, it's hard to judge. There is no cohesion in the album, as was mentioned. It's one mediocre song after another which could all carry a 1 1/2 too 2 1/2 star rating on their own, but that, in my eyes (and I think Blayne would agree with me here) simply doesn't equate a good (or not terrible in this case) album. Imo, even if the music is utter crap, an Album can easily carry a 2 star rating just on the musical progression and contrast within the Album. Sure, it's a harsh rating, but not unjustified.

I never understood the whole gateway band thing. I jumped right into the pool : Megadeth, Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Morbid Angel, Pantera, Marduk, 1349, Behemoth, Machinehead, Napalm Death, Kataklysm, Sepultura, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Hate Eternal, ETC. I listened to their discographies completely out of order also. I was just enjoying all types of metal. I never vibed with Disturbed or Numetal overall. It holds nostalgia value but thats it.

New album....suuucckkkksss!!! Its not even disturbed...its like a David Draiman ego project. They get into the recording studio and make "Are you Ready" which is a great song. Then David says he wants to make a softer song...ok. Then they make another song. And next thing you know 6 months later and the album is done and David is sitting alone in the recording studio like..."Hey guys listen to this" and hes all alone. The band had left months ago. The majority of the album sounds nothing like Disturbed or even a rock band. Hell my favorite song is the Sam de Jong remix...lol

I personally would have added Sentenced - The Cold White Light as a record to someone who is wanting to break through the gateway. Radio friendly alterna-metal with dark themes, as you all probably know already. Showed it to a buddy who's favorite band is A7x, and he really dug it, if that says anything.

Disturbed’s songs have variation. Also don’t stop at ten thousand fists, asylum, indestructible, and the lost children are also great.
@MRmagic111116 жыл бұрын
The problem I have with Disturbed's cover is that for one it is a legendary song; It feels dark and has so many dimensions to it and it is played quite simply through the genres of old school folk music. What makes this work is that it is called the sound of "Scilence" not the sound of an epic orchestra... Disturbed.
@EricAxel366 жыл бұрын
System of a Down was my gateway band. That acoustic song in this video was hilarious, can't believe that's supposed to be a serious song
@theartingskorpio15246 жыл бұрын
I love this album, also you gotta listen to those lyrics a bit closely, No More does NOT talk about society going to shit but about war and how the government funds it and the song basically calls for an action to stop that, hence the "No more defending the lies Behind the never-ending war, It's time to make them realize, We will no longer be their whore" part of the song, the "whore" would be a reference to basically us whose money is used for funding war. Most if not all of the songs in this album have deep meanings about what currently goes on in the world and also what many people are going through in their lives.

Wow for the first time in a long time I am agreeing with blayne. Like this was a black album in the way it was so mainstream it seemed uninteresting because no song stood out as it should've in the disturbed tone. Would recommend checking the album though.
