The band talked about how they came up with this song. It’s about a toxic relationship where you’re getting tired of all of the games and are about ready to snap. They still play this song on tours.

I grew up with Disturbed, and this song along with The Sickness and Believe definitely showcase what their older music sounds like. Their newer music has softened up a decent amount though since the lead singer is getting up there in age and can't do those growling/screaming vocals as much without hurting himself, but i enjoy pretty much every one of their albums.

Yeah, their newer stuff is more hopeful and slightly softer, in a way. Not a fan and yeah, if you don't know how to do those things healthily, you can mess up your voice. Many singers have done it but with a good vocal coach and even sometimes surgery, you can get through it. Adele and James Hetfield are two examples.

Thanks for doing this one Polo! Those Chicago boys are uniquely talented, and I'm glad you got the opportunity to hear the metal within! This was over a decade before Sound of Silence, and David Draiman has only grown since then. Never hurts to know the roots of such a group though.

David Draiman...a voice to die for. A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to vocal fry/distortion and back on a dime. He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful tonal properties to it! An awesome talent and obvious training to deliver what he does!! Can sing like an angel or the devil ! Loved your reaction ...great job! Try "Droppin' Plates" ...live from their Take Back Your Life Tour ... this year! Think you'll like "The Light" too if you liked S.O.S. ! oh and "Voices" too...lol...

This is more of their signature style, although they do have a few more that are closer to Sound of Silence in presentation. (Try Hold Onto Memories, A Reason To Fight, If I Ever Lose My Faith in You, all with their official videos, which only enrich the underlying story or message.) With David Draiman's training as a Jewish cantor and his stunning vocal talent, there's really nothing he can't do. You absolutely do recognize his voice even with the style of harsh over melodic. This is not a garage band just screaming, these are true musicians. I think as they have matured over the years they are exploring different facets to who they are and their music reflects that. If you could sing The Sound of Silence like that AND do this ... what else is there to bring to the table? Only everything in between. Why cage creativity? I'm eagerly waiting for their new album to drop in a couple of weeks. I see there's a duet with David and Ann Wilson from Heart. I cannot wait! The two singles they've released so far, though are pretty true to the bulk of their body of work. Keep going! Thank you!

I'm curious, are you interested in doing a deep dive into this band and plan to react more to them or are you wrapping it up with the three you've done? If you were contemplating doing more I may have some advice for you. "The Game" is a good song by them, it's a great intro for you to their typical style. That being said, as you can see by your view count, it was never going to be a song that pulled large views for you. If you were hoping for a learning experience for yourself it's a decent pick, probably recommended to you by more hardcore fans of the band but it was never going to be a huge draw. If you want something that will both give you a deeper dive AND pull views, then tracks like "Inside the Fire" (which deals with the heavy topic of suicide so you might want to do a bit of a PSA if you pick it), "Down with the Sickness" or "Stupefy" would be much better choices. Disturbed fans will cry foul on what I've just said wanting you to do more obscure stuff but they are thinking mostly of their own interests. They aren't considering our understanding what would be good for your channels growth while you have to consider both exploration and pull. I am simply being honest about what would be best for your self-interests so hopefully they won't tread me too badly in the comments. FYI, Disturbed also tends to include a cover in their albums so they have some good ones and some "meh" ones that might also draw views but aren't not done in their typical style. By all means if you want to do deep tracks by them and other bands that's awesome. I like it when reactors make videos for their own musical exploration first and view count second. But more than that, I like when good reactors are able to both explore and grow their channel at rates that don't leave them frustrated. I just found your channel, I haven't subscribed yet but so far I like what I've seen and wanted to offer my support and give you a little feedback. Thanks for the reaction, sorry for the light novel length comment and good luck, I'll be checking out more of your stuff!

There are so many genres of rock (metal being one of them) and there are subgenres of metal. This is one that could fall into category called "Nu-metal" or "industrial-rock" / "industrial-metal". Other bands/artists within this subgenre: Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Ministry, RobZombie/White Zombie, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Tool (one of the most amazing musicianship artistry since Pink Floyd), In This Moment (who has one of the badassest of all female vocalists ever in metal!). The singer (David Draiman) has that signature growl/grunt unlike any other singer I've heard - and is heard in many of their songs. The most iconic among their songs is "Down With The Sickness" which is largely considered their most popular and beloved by their fans. Alot of their songs are indeed anger rants as you identified the 'rage' sound in this song. These kind of songs that I call "rage tracks" are on a playlist for me on my Pandora when working out or going on long fast-walks.
