I've seen honey recommended for wounds a lot. I've never used it myself, but I believe it probably is effective. The cayenne? I can't imagine how much that would sting. I remember when I was a kid, iodine was a "thing" and that stung like hell. I'm guessing cayenne is even worse.

Ruby made it very clear that inducing pain was a goal of hers when punishing her children because “making them as uncomfortable as possible” would drive home the lesson and drive out the “distortion.” This is sadistic tactic that Jodi has been teaching and has used for a very long time. :(

As a chronic pain patient & former nurse. The fact that "pain", "withholding food", physically restraining, using honey & cayenne paste on open wounds (causing pain-burning sensation) handcuffing?, etc. Ruby & Jodi are clearly mentally "unstable". Do u think either Ruby or Jodi may have mental health issues? Jodi has childhood trauma that she began counseling for. But she "didn't like the counselor" so she quit. I was a client of Jodi's many years ago, and I can say that whilst I was initially shocked at the severity of the allegations, I'm not surprised to hear that this is where Jodi ended up. It's horrifying that she was not merely permitted to continue running her practice in such an unethical and criminal manner, but that she was evidently actually recommended by the LDS church despite her unethical practices being so blatant.

That is so kind of you. I have seen/YT podcasters /psychologist say it takes years, upon years to get over the abuse you receive as a child. So your prayers warm my heart. The kids need to be moved to a safe non-Mormon home. Mormon's from what I have seen are obsessed with the sin of masturbation, insist every member strive for perfection (hence the high success rate of many members), make promises about the after life - it is what you do that gets you into Heaven. The church is big on covering things up and destroying reputations.

@virginia9620 Jodi was hand-in-hand with the cult. She approached the sect because she knows how the Mormon mindset works -- and her family is also Mormon, abuse has been part of her family for generations. Those who are from that family have already spoken up and told horrible stories. I have read the testimonies of those Jodi destroyed -- and again, thanks to the Mormon cult. I believe a cover-up impeded the cops to investigate further, because several people had already reported the family to police and CPS. Nothing went too far in their investigations and I ask myself why. It is clear the Mormon cult has a lot influence and power in that State.

In my decades of experience, children and youth almost never made false accusations against their parents. I actually can't recall a single case, but there may have been some. We always said, "Even if it's not true, it's an indication there are real problems that need to be addressed."
@justkim9827
@justkim9827 9 ай бұрын
My experience agrees with yours. Kids usually have a tough time speaking out about abuse at home due to fear of further punishment from their abusers. If a kid is making an accusation, it's probably true and it's even more probable that they are scared about speaking out. As you said, if a kid is found to be making a _false_ accusation, there's also a reason - the kid is most likely trying to get out of a bad situation. Either way, accusations need to be investigated. I'm not a fan of DCF and I hate to see them involved with families, but many times they do save lives.

My thoughts exactly! All that bandages and such for wound care. I'm guessing they were panicking and were doing it because they knew they couldn't take them to the doctor. How bad were the wounds that they couldn't take them to the Dr and lie (not saying that's a good thing)?! I don't even want to think about the amount of pain these kids had to go through having cayenne put on their wounds. The thought of this is SO sad! What would have happened if the wounds had gotten seriously infected?! What would they have done? Would they have taken the kids to the Dr?! And I guess I'm being generous hoping they did it for wound care and not to torture the sin out of the kids.

I don't know if they will get in trouble for the cayenne pepper but I think it will really shock the jury. When I heard it I was just floored. You know the only reason they did that was to cause excruciating pain, so it was all about sadism at that point. Based on the statements Jodi and Ruby made in court, blaming the children for abusing other children, they will probably argue that they tied them up to protect other children, but what is their excuse for using cayenne pepper in open wounds? Even if they were trying to heal the wounds, why choose cayenne? That's just flat out torture.

I completely understand people being outraged that Kevin did not see or speak to his children for so long. Jodi, though, functioned more as a cult leader than a therapist, and cult leaders have gotten people to do some unthinkable things. I don’t see Kevin as completely innocent here, he was there when Ruby was inflicting awful punishments on their kids for years and years. I’m not defending him. I just think we need to keep in perspective the type of person Jodi is and what she has done to so many people.

Adam Sneed (marital counseling, he's divorced) Jesse Hildebrandt (Jodi's niece, who received counseling as a teen) interviews are worth a listen, imo. Kevin agreed not to see his children x3-14 months. He's GUILTY by association, marriage, marital separation x14 months & neglect. Jodi attempted to destroy Mr. Sneed's reputation on behalf of or possibly in agreement with Mr. Sneed's ex wife?? Praying for the children.💖

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about him. I feel like he was another victim of Jodi and Ruby. As much as I want to smack him, I have to remember that Jodi was a licensed therapist and she was recommended by his church. That lends her a LOT of authority and he may have trusted that she knew what she was doing. Unless investigators find out more, I don't think he'll be charged with any of the abuse, but I also hope he doesn't get custody of the children. I think he's easily manipulated and might be coerced into talking to the kids and getting them to change their testimony. I really don't think they are safe with any family members, except Shari.

YES there was a Netflix Documentary on Maya as well. I sent to you thru Instagram. I'm interested cause I have a special needs child n have to advocate for them. I know Maya is not S Needs although she was a minor. Sad. Thx.

Ruby Red in case you see this ( and as always a comment for the algo food) Thank you so much for that info. Oh that hit home as well. I know you said its complicated and tried to describe it in short, but even from the jest of it I got the story and it was heart aching. Will try to watch something more, don't use Dateline, I saw someone mentioned there is where they will have a premiere of sorts, but I just need the more established facts of what happened then I usually came back here and learn from Peter. Its more challenging that way and its a good and right amount of content. catching

I definitely would love to see more about the Taking Care of Maya family situation. It reminds me of the Justina Pelletier case in Boston. As someone with a myriad of health issues, these cases terrify me. I also have a friend that lost custody of her 2 children last year after taking their newborn to the hospital due to a birth injury. All because a hospital in the Boston area made massive false claims that were and are entirely unfounded and have been disproven. I can't say much more without giving too much information, but even CPS is on the parents side. But how do you fight a crooked organization/facility that has a bottomless pit of money?! She and her husband are devastated and have since been diagnosed with PTSD. It's just awful to see that this kind of thing can happen. Makes you feel like nowhere is safe 😔

Re: Taking Care of Maya…Tried watching the trial. The judge seemed to make the trial go very slowly (maybe it was just me). Please keep us updated so I don’t have to watch it all as I am interested-as a chronic pain sufferer myself I feel terribly for what that poor girl suffered. The effects on the family & loss of their mother just make the case even more sad but the judge seems to be leaning towards the hospital already & that bothers me.

Cayenne pepper is a great coagulant. We always have some in our emergency kits to help stop bleeding. I'm not defending it's use on kids or in any non emergency situation though - just some information. It's still horrific if they were using it to teach some strange "lesson" or as a "punishment".

I hope you cover Maya's trial, such a crazy story, extremely frustrating to watch, made me so angry, but I couldn't stop watching, I am happy they are finally able to sue the hospital, but I wish more was done to that doctor, she did that to so many families...
