I'm now making a TF2 map in Hammer Editor, it's much, much better than what Lazy had to go through in SFM, but you wouldn't belive how many times I had to google even the smallest things, like even stairs.

to be fair, sfm is actually one of the easiest animation programs to learn and use. BUT Lazy is kind of a perfectionist, which is a hindrance when dealing with a program that has..... quirks. he was also doing some advanced stuff, AND tf2 itself is janky AF. like, why would you make a laser particle that is colored like that? even the TF2 source code apparently has comments in it where people are just like WTF? at various random jank in the game. to kind of explain. he was dead set on using the wrangler's particle. he could have used the sniper's laser. OR, made one himself in the particle editor. (and even spookier part of sfm, admittedly. lol) or the muzzle flash thing. he could have edited the particle to keep firing instead of just firing once. but i suspect at that point it became a case of "working harder to be lazy". where he was done with it all, and said "f*** it" and just started copying and pasting the muzzle flashes.

the particle probably reuses the coordinate class for it’s colour since there’s no point making a second class for colours when it’s also just “3 numbers”. sfm then interprets this as being actually coordinate based as the particle isn’t made for it

@@staryoshi06 no, its by design. I actually found the particle he used (I was wrong, it was the base beam particle). it has an initializer in it called "remap control point to vector." that was what was locked to the color. the funny thing is, just delete that initializer and the color control reverts back to the color option he showed in the video under the particle's "system properties". its basically a 10 second fix. lol thats actually what threw me off. i had messed with that before and initially ran into the same issue, but was able to get it to be colorable pretty quickly. so when he said he couldn't do it, i just assumed it was a different particle with a weird property attached. I guess he just isn't the type to just start deleting crap in particles to see what happens. lol
