is tfsa interest paid monthly or yearly? is it counted every month and then paid out at the end of the year or is it just yearly?
@shathishannamalai5995Ай бұрын
@@alecnolastname4362 As far as I know TFSA itself does not come with interest. Sometimes the platform that offers TFSA accounts offer special interest rates. Most important thing is you dont open TFSA to accumulate interest but to invest and grow the money and withdraw it tax free which is the main benefit of TFSA. Hope this helps!

I reinvest them in my Roth and sometimes spend the ones from my brokerage one.

I'm very new to investing and have just invested in VOO with auto reinvested dividends within my RRSP.. what do you guys think about that?
@NiightStarz16 күн бұрын
Earlier this year I had very little knowledge about investing. I just left it all to someone to manage it for me and paying that high MER. Thanks to your content, I now feel a lot more comfortable and manage my own portfolio on WS. I really appreciate these videos so thank you so much!

I was talking with my uncle a bit ago and in terms of an oil company he said that if they promise a dividend and don’t have the cash they are more then likely to take out a loan to pay those dividends at least that’s how he explained it to me. I know not every investment will do this but a few will
@GreatGodNyxАй бұрын
That is indeed a possibility, though more then likely a company that doesn't have the cashflow to pay a dividend will usual cut or remove the dividend altogether permanently or until the company is in a better shape to pay a dividend.

Doesn’t happen these days in the Canadian energy industry. Used to be SOP,but those days are long gone. Mostly because banks don’t loan to energy companies if they can help it.

I was just thinking about dividends and ETF’s last week and didn’t know about each. Then your video dropped today! Thank you. You guys are awesome!

Always, all ways great content Steph & Den ! My eq account used tfsa for gics but they all matured and focus on Wealthsimple tfsa and fhsa and reinvest divs. W.S. manually set my tfsa too reinvest monthly divs automatically because I only use laptop and company phone not for personal. Only apps on phones can trigger the "DRIP" option as of Oct 2024. I only purchase usa and divs are automatically deducted by 15% non-resident tax but far outweighs having 100s of thousands worth of cnd stocks, etfs that pay little div's ... or too each their own way and purpose. Thanks for info.

Does reinvesting dividends contribute to contribution limit for TFSA?
@stephanddenАй бұрын
Nope - dividends earned or dividends reinvested don’t contribute to your contribution limit. 😊

Does earning dividends in a TFSA account and reinvesting them in the same TFSA account count towards my contribution limits?
@abbyhart7520Ай бұрын
Nope.

Do you guys have money in the Canadian ETF, VDY which offers monthly distributions?
@AhhhSukeSukeАй бұрын
VDY is a very common etf to invest in
@petersui9532Ай бұрын
@@AhhhSukeSuke do you have investments into it? I was considering it. But.. was also considering the USD SGOV which offers a higher yield even after FX conversions assuming you hold the investment for a long term position. Have you checked out the recent CAD JEPI/JEPQ that released on TSE?

I'd be interested to know if you sold shares of a non dividend paying fund vs used the dividends but didn't reinvest, what would the difference in outcomes be?
@CanadianFinanceSimplifiedАй бұрын
Could come out to be the same. At that point, it's the total return of each fund that matters the most.

In New Zealand, dividend is withheld (l.e. receiving the net [after tax] amount. No matter if received in cash or reinvented at a base rate for everyone or legal entity). Also, all tax filing is online and majority tax info in already filed in automatically (self-employed income, property investment income (and other examples) need to be manually filed in.). This means less headaches, just check payslips and income are correct. [Personal circumstances and experience , not advice] I receive a tax refund due to the dividend. I actually looking forward to receiving the refund (generally dont like filing tho)

Hi, I have a slightly unrelated question. Soon I will be interviewing for a job I am slightly underqualified for on paper, but considering I come from within the team I am a desired candidate. I expect an offer. Our company works in scales, so the scale is set. The question is: Am i still in a position to negotiate? I know other similar jobs want me and would pay more than the bottom of the range, but I am afraid i will not be able to counter the argument that it is a huge step up either way. How would you do this? Thanks in advance for your or any other commenter's reply!
