Ok, so, I've been reading through the comments, and I am surprised and disappointed with all the haters. 1st, her nails are REAL ( except for that broken one) . Applying a gel or acrylic overlay is just that , an OVERLAY ! THIS IS LIKE PUTTING WAX ON YOUR CAR TO PROTECT IT FROM THE ELEMENTS. 2nd if you don't have anything nice to say , then don't say anything at all. Shame on you , just shame. If you don't like what you see, then just go to another channel. 3rd, I have been doing my own nails for 28 years. I am not a licensed nail tech and I never plan to be however, I appreciate the details she has in all her videos and it helps me to make sure I am getting it right. Bonus, she has a quirky sense of humor and I find her voice soothing. So to sum it up, her nails are real , it's just luke putting a thick layer of clear polish that won't peal or chip. Haters be gone .💞

Thanks so much for this very detailed video. I have stopped going to the salon for about 3-4 years because the last time I went and had acrylic nails done, when I soaked them off, my natural nails had deep ridges in them from where the acrylic started (and eventually grew out). Since then, I've been doing my own nails, starting with acrylics, gel polishes, polygel and soon, dip powders. I always try to watch licensed professionals on KZbin to learn more about technique and how to use the products well, since I will only be doing my own nails. I love your videos and will continue to watch them :D

The salons I've called and asked about the gel nails apparently think I'm talking about gel polish. What is the proper terminology I should use when inquiring about the gel nails like yours?
@NatashaLeeDivine8 жыл бұрын
+Tammy the proper terminology is a "soak off enhancement gel". Any salon that refers to a gel polish as a gel strengthener or a soak off gel is one to avoid. They clearly don't have the training and skills to differentiate so I personally would avoid them xxx

vitamins?? nail oil is good for nails too.
@toxigenic8 жыл бұрын
Nobody likes to hear this, but try to clean up your diet. Are you eating fruits and veggies every single day? Taking a multivitamin with minerals? And it may take months before you notice the benefits as the nail needs to grow all the way out. Nail oil will help as it will allow the nail to bend more before it snaps, making it less likely to break. Good luck!

When you do upkeep on your nails, do you remove the gel base every time or do you just file it down and add more? Also, how do you prevent the gel base from peeling off the nail around the cuticles?
@JustinLHopkins8 жыл бұрын
A gel layer over the natural nail looks much better. Certain nail channels feature polish and designs over the natural nail and they don't look nearly as refined or perfected. The nature of the nail itself doesn't allow for perfection unless something is placed on top to even the surface.

+Annie Thompson omg yes!!! I thought when I qualified as a high level nail educator with a certain brand that all my prayers would be answered! They weren't! It took me to discover this gel that gave me the nails that I'd always dreamed of! I don't get anything from promoting it, I buy it normally online like any other professional. I feel I have to announce that repeatedly, as the brand I left as an educator tried to discredit me when I started experimenting with other brands and loved them xxx

+Annie Thompson that is so true. I spent so much time in my early days as a trainee nail tech googling "the best...." Of each thing that when I decided to cut my strings it was because of the rules being put upon me to say something was amazing when it wasn't. I might not please all brands with my honesty, but I am always polite in my reviews and I am always honest in my opinions. That is paramount to me. Thank you so much for your supportive comments xxxxx

I am blessed with strong natural nails and since I started using a glass file and the simply pure cuticle oil my nails are peeling a lot less. I was thinking of using a foundation gel for added strength since I work retail and it's tough on my nails. My only worry is if the gel damages natural nails? I'm not a nail tech and would have to use something like the Gelish foundation. What are your thoughts on how gel effects the natural nail? Thanks and I love all your Vlogs and tutorials.

this is a great video and your nails are beautiful. I have been trying to grow my nails for this past year, it is challenging. I use to bite my nails and have stopped biting, however now the problem is every now and then, one nails ends up chipping or cracking and then I have to start all over again, I am very tempted to look into the skyscraper gel idea. My question is can you still use regular nail polish to paint you nails with this gel nails. I like to change my nail polish every two or 3 days.

Loved the video. My natural nail under my gel overlay are long. How to keep nice under there? My natural nails are not necessarily straight and they are coming away from my overlay. I don't want to file them out of the overlay. Encasing with gel at the tip? What to do? Thanks.

Natasha (or other qualified commenters), I have always wiped my nails down with an alcohol prep swab before painting but I often get distracted or called off to do something else between coats and I've always wondered this: is it a good idea to wipe down the surface of your color coat to remove oils that may have been picked up in the interim before doing the next coat or is it a bad idea to use alcohol between coats?

I don’t have a very good c curve but with acrylics you can pinch it before it’s completely cured which helps to strengthen it. Can you do something like that with hard gel nails?

@NatashaLeeDivine8 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you have "ski slope" nails as they are known in the business. It depends how much they slope upwards but if it's slight techs can work with them. If they have a greater slope then generally we have to cut them down to about 3mm of free edge and then sculpt from there. Hope that helps xxx

+Natasha Lee thank you for the reply. my nails are currently as long as yours except for one and it is my pinkie nail which has the greatest slope. again thank you for taking the time to reply as well as educate the non professional. it allows us to pick a better pro when we do have work done. i don't go often as i have learned to take care of my nails but it is nice to have someone else give me an awesome hand massage.

@roos12508 жыл бұрын
So basicly you apply a gel layer on top of your natural nails? To keep it strong. My nails are really ugly, short, weak and disformed. Since a month or two I've been applying gelpolish on my nails to give them a little bit more strenght and make them look less ugly. Love that! I'm a nail biter, but only when I have a little break or 'snip' in my nail. The polish keeps them from breaking easier. I still want to try to apply a layer of gel on top of my nails, just because the gelpolish only holds about 5 days with my nails and my work. How often do you need to refresh your nails? When you remove your polish, does that do anything to your gel layer?
@NatashaLeeDivine8 жыл бұрын
+Roos yes that's right. I apply a layer of gel over to give them extra strength. I use an acetone resistant top coat over my gel so it's doesn't really cause a problem using acetone to remove my nail polish but I wear a peel off base coat to prevent me risking damaging them. Hope that helps xxx

Thank you Denise, no I haven't got an all about me actually but I do do weekly vlogs just about my uneventful life 😂. There is one in there though about my last day in my salon from earlier this year after I sold it. Thanks for joining, and any questions please feel free to ask xx

Is the gel permanent? Or can you take it off like regular gel with just acetone ?

Would you fix my breaks I am using teabags and powder but looks cloudy I might try gel but don't want to buff my nail before applying gel what gel do you recommend?

Is this soak off enhancement gel thicker and more strengthening to the nail than regular gel polish? Also, is this gel used in the video less damaging than using acrylic? I'm trying to grow out my paper thin, bendy and peeling nails!

From the demo this looks like hard gel nail polish. But then, she's able to soak it off... hard gel can't be soaked off but must be filed off. Sooooo im confused. Is this hard gel? Or soak off gel?
@NatashaLeeDivine7 жыл бұрын
JoyceMD this is a soak off gel so it can be applied as an enhancement, as an overlay, or as a thin layer under a gel polish to get an extra week out of gel polish. I've swapped now to a hard gel (Polygel) and I have a more video available for that xx

will gel damage the nail making it brittle? I want to try this, looks absolutely beautiful on natural nails, but Ive been growing my nails for a year now with many breaks along the way, I can say now they are finally at a strong stage so I'm a bit worried this will cause damage to my nails if I do try.
