Poor baby. I'm glad these guys tried to save the whale, and were trying to educate the public once the whale passed.

@@OceanPancake well, and because of the way that person in the thumbnail is scaled.

NJ(USA) had a problem last year with Whales washing ashore. Interestingly stopped when Orsted pulled out of the Wind Farm project

Wind farm? Was it on land or in the ocean?

Beachings were not related to any work Orsted was doing. Started years before. NOAA ruled out any connection. Boat strike and discarded fishing gear are the culprits.

Have you ever seen a stranded marine animal? Did it manage to get reacued? Unfortunately, this juvenile humpback whale met a tragic end on the beaches of Conway. 🐋 💔 Thank you for watching the video and spending some time on my little corner of KZbin

This may be a stupid question but would he/she still been with it's mother or when do leave? I thought they all still stayed in a pod for most of their lives?
@OceanPancakeАй бұрын
Humpback whales do not live in pods, but do interact with one another. This one was estimated to be a juvenile, but not a 'baby' anymore. So maybe around 2 years old, away from his mum for about a year or more. It's more Dolphins and Orcas that continue to live in pods :)

How did it get all the way out there?
@OceanPancakeАй бұрын
There are six meter tides in this part of the world and the beach had some deeper channels it would have swam through when the tide was high, and then the tide went out. He could have been disoriented or already very sick.

I didn't get to film when it was still alive as all efforts went towards attempting to rescue, once it passed, and there was no urgency to save it, is when this footage was taken. :)

Most of the footage taken here is after it passed away, so unfortunately nothing could be done. Prior to this, there was a rigorous rescue effort with towels to keep it cool, trenches to bring water, buckets and pumps to try keep it in the water. (Mostly no footage as people were too busy to film)

I hate that people work so hard to save these mammals wich atr smarter if not even kinder but it's us humans that are driving them to this to this point we try and try to just let them be there selves and live ty here god givin lives.....iam sorry but iam blame us and iam from oregon where the giuness group thought dynamite would be threat answer that's the best us humans can come up with lord help us ....."ALL" I just wish we could just leave eachother alone and leave the ocean alone we are a race that has not yet fully developed yet...what holds us back are our own vanity,if we could just let are egos die and live just live do we truly need more imagine a world we're even one person gave the next just one thing to help....that's the world we need and not only in the United States but in all country's take a note from the animals and just live ...life always finds away we have the sun we have plants fungi so many things coming down the pipe that could lead us to a self sustainable world all we gotta do is pull the trigger....make the change or we our excuse me but proper fucked!....I don't know when we are gonna be ready but hey my hope was in elon instead he built a race of robots I think cause he knows we aren't ready nor developed enough some of us were born with the foresight to see that we can make a difference if we fight for it our world is all we have until we inhabit the next and take all that we can from it but idk iam just gonna live and dream and do my part as small or as large as I can to teach the next generation That there's so much more to us than just minerals paper and gas and things ......

They where there throwing water on it while is was still alive. They saw it take its last breath.
@OceanPancakeАй бұрын
I didn't film when it was still alive as the focus was on trying to keep it that way. The volunteers had covered it in wet towels to try minimise sunburn, were pumping water into its little ditch, digging a trench to deeper areas of the beach. But unfortunately something was wrong with it internally we believe, so it passed away after two hours or so from when members on the community first found it :(

Doesn't look like a rescue at all more of an excursion specially this woman in this video

By the time I arrived, the humpback whale had taken it's last breath. So there was nothing else that could be done. Therefore thought it would be a good opportunity to create an opportunity for education and highlight the plight of marine life 🐋
