Freediving Julian Rocks is special! I don't think i've dived anywhere that was as bio diverse as this little rock just off the coast of Byron Bay. There were schools of rays, spotted eagle rays, a crazy amount of fish species, turtles, sharks- honestly the place had everything!
We went with friends of ours that we met at Deep Week. We took our boat, the Ellie-nautical out through the Brunswick Heads Bar. It was my first bar crossing in our boat so I was a bit nervous!

But back then I wasnt into freediving so now I can see the best of two worlds: great Australian places I know and amazing divesites I missed ;P)

Hey Adam. I love the video! Ever since I discovered your channel, I feel so inspired to go and take a freediving course. I am, however, a bit scared to do so, as everytime I put my Fins on and swim for a bit, I get these awful cramps in my feet. (Not my calves) and I dont know what to do about it. Do you have any tips?
@Brandon-ch9eo
@Brandon-ch9eo 3 жыл бұрын
Do you find that you point your feet really hard? Ive found that if I kick my feet with my toes pointed too hard, I can also get cramps in the bottoms of my feet. Another potential reason could be because your foot muscles just arent conditioned enough! So doing shorter times but more often may help as well.
@AdamFreediver
@AdamFreediver 3 жыл бұрын
Hey :) I can't say for sure but I would be tempted to think that your fins are too small for you. Also what Brandon said could also be a factor. Try to relax your feet when you fin. Usually when people have this problem it's easy to fix. But an instructor will be able to see this straight away and help you out...so I think my friend it's time you took that course :)

Pardon my ignorance but what is dangerous about boating over/through a bar?!
@AdamFreediver

Basically when waves crash into the rivermouth it creates dangerous wave patterns and currents. We went through on a calm day but when the swell is larger it's not a good idea to go through :)

By all means explain a mythology, but don’t expect or demand we should all believe in it too! I never understand why some humans think their stories are so important in explaining the Universe, when the whole human race has only been around for the blink of an eye and the Universe was doing just fine before we got here. Anyway, great video and love the channel! X

You are taking your chances diving there. I came across a huge great white shark while diving there, I hid in the bottom in a cave with a giant turtle until my tank was dry, then made a dash for the surface and boat. My friend used to run a local dive service and he had to pull the legs of a man on his honeymoon into the boat and drive back to shore with the wife of the half eaten man. Take care, there a nicer and safer places to dive. Link to the story - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn2XmaR8ps-Uebs
