Are you playing Divinity: Original Sin 2? What's your best tip?
@verySharkey7 жыл бұрын
1st: try a 2 character party starting with the Lone Wolf perk, You can get one character to crazy heights and have a much higher capability for spellcombinations on a single character. 2nd: the opposite of explorer mode -> If you explore well you'll find yourself way ahead of the areas you are exploring relatively soon. Tactician might be hard on the first few hours but once you are well equipped you can do very well!

I like using the same type of damage on all my characters, that makes it easier to get past the armour/magic armour and land those stat effects. My 4 physical damage party has a polymorph/knight, a necro/healer, a wayfarer and a shadowblade. I have a really easy time applying status effects but most enemies die before the status effects end so it's not that great. But it's still a good strategy.

1) have a character invest into thievery and pickpocket your way around the world. But to avoid the risk to capture only steal money and skill books (use immediately), and then use that money to buy gear. 2) Rupture Tendons (Scoundrel skill) and Chicken form is an insanely powerful combination.
@Konuvis7 жыл бұрын
You can only pickpocket characters once so I almost recommend waiting to do it. for example I pickpocketed a bunch of people in Fort joy at the beginning but once I reached level 4 their inventory upgraded with the lvl 2 skill books and I couldn't steal those.

Use custom map markers!!! The quest system doesn't hold your hand and if you're not paying attention you might be unable to blindly follow a map marker. Mark down places of interests, quest NPCs, ANYTHING that looks interesting and you might want to come back to later. Trust me, it'll make a ton of difference.

My favorite combo so far that is a little broken is to give a rogue some polymorph skill and the chicken claw ability. Get behind them, knock that armor off, used ruptured tendons then turn them into a chicken. Ruptured tendons deals damage with every step they take and a chicken just runs around aimlessly.

Before you leave Fort Joy, make a note of where all the traders are. Get a character with decent Thievery 2+ is fine and go and pickpocket all the vendors, from doing this i got over 10 skill books, a couple thousand gold and about 8 resurrection scrolls. Make sure to run away as soon as possible once you've pickpocketed them though or they will chase you down and ask to search your inventory! Also when you've "finished" Fort Joy (you will know when you're ready to move on) all those Magisters are just walking around the fort... if i remember right they give 800xp each... would be a shame if something happened to them ;)

Not needed at all though. Just saying. I had that amount of gold on all 3 playthroughs, and scrolls, and spellbooks. Some experiences I've collected: 1. Decide at the very beginning what kind of weapon you want to go into (finesse, strength, intelligence...) and only level this one up out of your attributes for max damage and max out the fitting combat skills for it. In my lone wolf playthrough for example I maxed up my summoning skill and then went into some other intelligence based combat ability and kept leveling up intelligence. 2. Summoning is pretty useful, especially because you can decide whether your summons and totems damage the enemies physical or magical armor. Check what resistances the enemies have, as well as their armor stats, and based on that you place your summon. Keep different types of grenades. They do shit damage, but they are super useful for creating a surface to infuse your summon with. 3. "stun lock" powerful enemies. Focus on them first and get either their magic or physical armor down and try to keep them unable of fighting as in stunning, freezing them, knocking em down or turning them into chickens. 4. Fire and poison spells are the most useless, since both don't have an option to stun enemies. In addition, many enemies, especially eternals heal from poison. 5. Around end game, if you don't know where to spend your combat points on, put them into polymorph. It grants you attribute points, plus you can use useful polymorph skills like invisibility or skin graft (all spells cool downs are gone). 6. There is always new stuff to find. I finished my fourth playthrough today and each one I learned new things, found new stuff out and so on. It's fun to explore the different Charakters and different abilities and spells. 7. Use spirit vision!!! You can miss alot of things if not using it regularly , even little tiny details which ain't even that important, but interesting. Hope someone may finds this interesting and useful!

Here's some tricks I like 1. If your finding a combat particularly difficult you can unlink your party members to make sure they're not grouped up. More importantly of you take a high initiative character you can move him away from the group have him draw all the eyes of the enemies and then sneak your other characters around wherever you want them to be and give them a free turn. 2. Talk to NPCs with different characters gives you different dialogue options. It helps to have one character whose really good at persuasion. 3. Movement abilities are the best in the game. Whether it's speeding up your character with haste or slowing down theirs with oil make sure you're always a step ahead. 4. Focus fire is very important especially since most conditions bleeding, burning, knockdown ext can only be applied once the enemies armor (magic and regular) have been drained getting their shields down is imperative. 5. Don't be Anakin. Get to the high ground first if you can and before the fight starts is preferable you'll do more damage and have more range. 6. Unlike most RPGs divinity encourages not just Min-maxing. While you should focus on only a free attributes skills from various classes and create devastating combinations. Playing a ranger? Put a point or two in another finesse class, scoundrel, and crank up that crit multiplier and learn get a invisible skill to put you on the high ground faster. Or give your cleric some necromancy to use some of their passive skills to heal yourself while using your healing for the party. Just keep tinkering and all will fall before your might. Good luck Godwoken and have fun.

1. If one of your party members is a healer(Hydrosophist) I also advise to get them necromancer, it's an effective way to self sustain if your hydro healing spells are on cooldown. Also, necro skills scale with INT but they deal Physical damage, giving mages an extremely effective way to shave off armor on enemies at long range. If your character has both Hydro and Necro, you can get blood rain, which leads me to point 2 2. If you are playing an undead and since you can only heal yourself with either poison or necro skills, the talent Leech with the aforementioned blood rain is super effective way to heal. Ath the very most you can have 2 story driven undead characters in your team, so it's a good balance since your healer can heal both undead and living party members this way. 4. Healing spells are SUPER effective against undead, I've had my healer wipe and entire squad of undead enemies with Healing Ritual. 5 Melee fighters: Executioner talent is your BEST friend, also really effective for Rangers, trust me, that one point in warfare will be worth it. 6. Make sure one of your party members has high Wits, (Preferably the Ranger, or a Wizard with Savage Sortilege talent benefit the most), for a many helpful and necessary interactables are hidden. 7. Far out man talent for rangers and mages is a MUST. 8. Having one character some points invested in aerotheurge is very useful, because in Aero, you get nether swap, teleportation and tornado, 3 skills I find myself using very often to cross dangerous terrain or bring distant squishy enemies to striking range of my melee fighters. 9. Wizards benefit from Huntsman alot, so items that have +1 Huntsman for wizards is very useful, high ground damage boost is the shit.

Biggest tip I can give as someone that has actually reached the end of the main story: DON'T RUSH THROUGH THE GAME. Seriously, though you might think that most sidequests are unimportant, or that you really should get on with the story, rushing through the game, keeping your aim on the main story will make the game so much worse, and by the time you reach the end, you'll have a bad taste in your mouth when you see all the hints at potential ends to game-long secondary storylines. So take your time, take your *long* time. Listen to the conversations, enjoy the music, find a toad to kiss. It'll improve it immeasurably.

First time playing divinity EVER on the PS4. It felt very difficult to get a handle of in the beginning - like a lot of stuff to learn all at once, I nearly just gave up on that alone. Fortunately I've played a few other games like this and had a general idea of how things usually work with this stuff. I stuck with it, and man this game is so addictive. If you enjoy strategy turn based games, this is perfect. I decided to play it how it was meant to be played, with the original level of difficulty. Meant sometimes I was stuck for a looooong time, but it makes me feel like when I was younger playing FF7 for the first time and I really had to stick at something to beat it. Games generally aren't as difficult these days, which is good and bad, but I do miss having a great challenge.
@HeyFox1016 жыл бұрын
Please, don't mislead new players, playing an undead is overpowered. It's meta to pick an undead elf with pet pal trait. This way you will be able to: 1. Talk to animals. It often gives you a shortcut in quests. If you suspect a dude killed his wife, his cat would be the perfect witness. Might also provide you with info you never wanted to know, like how often he beats his meat. 2. Gain memory of dead people by eating their flesh. Pretty self-explanatory, also often used to open shortcuts in quests. Why wonder who is the murderer, if you, as an elf, can bite into the victim's butt and know for sure it was the butler who killed her? 3. Pretend being someone else. Undead can make and wear a mask that turns you into a creature of any of the playable races. Once again, very helpful, since more than half the people you meet on your way will be racist and will gladly tell their fellow racist secrets they keep from the pesky elves/dwarves/humans/lizards. 4.1 Get your "health" potions with zero effort. The living need ingredients for health potions, so they often crawl around woods searching for the right mushrooms. Undead can just haul around a barrel of poison and pour its' endless contents into vials. 4.2 There's items and spells that turn nearly any liquid into poison, simultaneously healing your undead ass and poisoning enemies, who just a second ago were sighing in relief they put out that huge fire with some water. 5. Play dead. Undead are basically animated corpses - they don't breath, they don't blink, their hands aren't shaking uncontrollably. All it takes for them to play dead is to stop moving. And that's one thing enemies can't counter - in any other situation they know how to use your weaknesses. They will heal undead, they will drain your armor or shields, depending on what's weaker, and etc. But when you play dead - they do nothing about it. They don't use AoE spells and abilities, don't drop bombs at you... They just... Ignore you.

The video is on the money about undead. It's def not over-powered. It has advantages but it is still annoying AF to not have any way of healing yourself except through poison, especially as most parties will not have more than one geomancer. And relying on the undead character to heal themselves with potions leaves them vulnerable if several enemies decide to gang up on them once their turn has passed (which tends to happen regularly). Like sure you can play dead but that leaves you a man down. By the time one of your characters needs to pull a trick like that, in most cases you're not in a position to lose a character for a full three turns. Three turns is more than enough to lose a fight.

Other tips: Don't try to keep everyone set in one class. Multiclass everyone. Get self teleport or invisibility for everyone. Also use the hell out of your sneak and thieving abilities. You can really get ahead in the game by just sending your best rogue out into the world to explore an entire castle stealing everything and from everyones pockets. If you’re suspected of thievery, one thing I’ve done to avoid conflict is use the stolen item in a way that hides it. By that I mean if I steal nails, I’ll “hide” them by combining them with my boots so the character I stole from won’t recognize them.

There are a large number of traders and characters you can trade with from there onwards who can offer Res Scrolls fairly often, they restock every hour.

Poison barrels can be used to poison a weapon or create poison flasks with infinite uses. They take up 60 points of inventory weight though
@Crim_Zen2 жыл бұрын
You later get a claw in the fort joy dungeon that does the same thing and weighs next to nothing. It's mostly for Fane though, since he needs his poison potions. I usually leave a box filled with barrels and crafting items at a waypoint and go there whenever I need to craft. That saves a lot more than 60 lb in my bag.

A tip for every skeleton player: Combine a empty flask with a poison barrel - this will give you a poison potion (Which heals Skeletons) The barrel wont dissapear after your first few uses, you'll always have potions as long as you have empty flasks (They lay around and some merchants sell them) Thats way easier than buying regular potions to poison them
@Ravenor997 жыл бұрын
Just keep in mind that the barrel is pretty heavy and it will take you some inventory space

You might want to add comments to this video to let people know the game has changed a lot. For example, bedrolls are now infinite use. And you can put all of anything on one character, and cast them from downed characters. All in all, its as if the inventories of all characters are one unified inventory, with the only thing unique or specific to a character is A) The weight they can carry, and B) One character can make a trade with a merchant at once.

Oh, just remembered another one - you're going to want a shovel, so stealing one from the kitchen area of Fort Joy, or buying one (can't remember who in the Fort Joy camp sells one) is a must, especially if you have a high-Wit character, who can spot secret digging spots

I gotta give this game another try. I got so frustrated from dying so much, I traded the game. I see the potential of this game but I lack the patience and nerve to get a hang of it... it’s so much to take in because of its in-depth options of fighting and pre fight strategies. It’s a way different speed from the rpgs I usually play. I’ll take these tips and try it out again, thanks.
@0plumber15 жыл бұрын
I felt the first couple of hours were definitely difficult, learning the game while getting your back side handed to you is not fun, yet overcoming and slowly inching your way forward by picking and choosing your fights is best strategy and awesome when you get past those walls. Keep trying, it's such a great game. Trial and perseverance.

Steal as much as you can! Invest in thievery, seriously, so u can steal skill books, precious items, scrolls etc. Btw, easy way to steal: talk to vendor, while dialogue is up, thief goes behind and steals. Then either i) throw stolen stuff on floor and get examined (nothing happens) or ii) as soon as dialogue is closed everyone run away quick like 1-2 screens, vendor searches for thief, wait a bit, then come back. Easy. :)

Fane...combine poison barrel and single empty potion bottles to get poison. Carry barrel in backpack for infinite fills. Combine poison potions to get stronger poison. Doesn't work with stacks, which is annoying.

Rain nourishes the land Seriously though, elemental surfaces are a big deal in this game. If you are playing on a harder difficulty such as honour mode, consider using rain to prep the battlefield before a tough fight. if you cover an area with water, you can electrocute it, or use contaminate to poison the water. If you contaminate, you can use a fireball to create a massive fire field.

Teleport spell or Teleport gloves. Then teleport your enemies above other enemies to give them extra damage or teleport them into the fire, water or poison. How about you teleport your enemy in the middle of your group or in front of your party member that got that transform into chicken ability? You got the idea. ;)

Save scumming? Never heard of it. So taking advantage of quick save now has a negative label eh? Stay classy internet.
@stochastic246 жыл бұрын
Taking advantage of quicksave is using quicksave to save time, that is why it is called quicksave. Loading when your party dies is called loading and is used to not start at the beginning when your party dies. Constantly saving and loading to get the results you want and circumvent the game mechanics is called save scumming and is similar to cheating. Yes it has a negative label as people don't really respect others who cheat on such an easy game.

I really wish the main menu _explained_ the difficulty levels. EASY = Story Mode. MEDIUM = Explorer Mode. HARD = Classic Mode. Story Mode doubles your health, armor, and damage while halving the unfriendly NPCs. Explorer Mode raises yours by 50 percent and lowers the NPCs' by 50 percent, and Classic Mode puts you on even terms with the NPCs.

You can use a controller too! You have to be on the main menu to when you turn your controller on. If the game recognizes it it'll fad to a selection screen that will let you choose how you want to play the game. On the Xbox controller it's hit A button to activate it or any key on the keyboard for keyboard and mouse. If the input screen doesn't auto show, hit the escape key to get there. Alternatively, if you're already using a controller and want to go back to keyboard and mouse you'll need to go back to the main menu screen and hit the B button to show the input screen. Using the controller will offer some unique controls for the game. Holding A will search an area in a radius around the character you're controlling and a list of things you found will pop-up. You'll also notice that the whole game interface has changed to accommodate the use of a controller. This is a real nice option for playing the game on the couch!
@FarSolar7 жыл бұрын
It's also a good sign that the game should be able to be ported over to consoles without major difficulty. They used the same engine to port over DOS: EE and have already created the whole interface for controller use.

I still remember my haughtiness when I started the original game, lol "I finished dozens of rpgs before, tactical shit or not... So give me that tactical difficulty, no prob"... man, I got frustrated so quickly, lol You can't commit mistakes in that game (and things must be the same in the sequel), sometimes it's even more relentless than games like Xcom. Divinity is perfectly designed to leveling up your characters just enough for the occasional boss battles, you can't grind and that can scary a lot of new potential players, it scared me at first. I remember simple zombies in the first area using electric magic in the rain, it makes zero fucking sense, just to make the game harder, lol Saving scum or not, that tactical difficulty should be avoided by all newcomers. After you finish on classic (it has plenty of hard battle as well), mastering all the nuances of combat and shit, then the tactical difficulty becomes a viable option.
