I'm at about 370 hours. Beat the game 4 times now. Found a party of 4. Start the game from the beginning and one of the guys was spitting out some strategies and I was thinking "why did i never think of such strategy. This is brilliant!" Just when you thought you knew everything there's still more to learn.

I must say this is one of the most convincing game reviews I have seen in a while, without spoilers. Wasn't really into turn-based game myself, but Divinity Original Sin 2 changed my mind. There is so much depth in the game, and I don't regret getting it. Your analysis and objective review was spot on. Thanks for doing it justice

I just started playing this week and I absolutely love this game. I had reservations as well. I didn't think I'd like the turn-based combat or the isometric top-down view. Boy was I glad I gave it a chance. I'm slowly discovering stuff, playing blindly and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite RPGs ever. It actually makes me want to try out Pillars of Eternity, Baldur's Gate and Pathfinder.

I got spoiled with action RPGs, and lost my interest in turn based RPGs. I use to be into turn based RPGs, my favorite was FF:Tactics. But decided to come back to turn based, to see if I still had some interest, and Divinity OS2, got be right back into turned based RPGs. It's a game on a whole another level of greatness.

The turn-based combat system honestly wasn't an issue for me, since I grew up with pokemon, and I like the thought of "planning out" complex moves. I was more uncertain about the medieval themes, since I tend to prefer sci-fi and futuristic rpgs like Mass Effect. But I absolutely love this game.

I randomly picked this game up one day and instantly fell in love with it. Which is weird because I typically play fps games but recently one of my friends got me into d&d and this game is very much like a d&d campaign. The story telling is masterful, the dialog is actually interesting and gets you involved enough that you'll be going up to every single character you can to see what they have to say. And if you get the pet pal talent you can talk to animals and even they have amazing and sometimes hilarious things to tell you. Honestly this game is probably the best RPG I've ever played. I'd say it's right next to fallout new vegas and I am probably going to spend at least several hundred to possibly a few thousand hours playing it. I unfortunately only have it for switch right now but I'm probably going to get it on computer as soon as I can afford a decent one.

Couldn't agree with your more, Avarti. I absolutely loved Divinity Original Sin 1 and love II even more. Fantastic Plot with deep character development, wonderful voice acting, and the fact that the FX/graphics support the story and game play rather than *being* the driving force of this game puts it well above most RPGs. I am not a fan of Turn based games BUT Larian did it so right I can't see it it done in any other way. You really need to employ smart tactics Your moral/ethical choices make significant and lasting impact on the game not only via your actions but in dialogue choices as well. I strongly suggest staring with the first game and then the second. If you have trouble as I did when I first tried this series just go to KZbin or other sources to help you develop characters, etc. Keep in mind Larian did make some changes between 1 and 2.

i fell in love with turn based combat because of this game and now its crpg with turn base combat are some of my favorite genre of games. It just allows for so much depth and character building. Its really an amazing set up for games, recently i have been playing an indie title on pc called Stoneshard that has a really nice take on turn based thats basically real time its great, id love to see something like a fallout style callasic rpg use that style of gameplay

Wow, that's some high praise comparing it to The Witcher 3, my favourite role-playing game of all time. I've been looking to get through some games I missed before Cyberpunk comes out, and just finished through Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2 (after seeing Avowed), which I really enjoyed. Today I see Divinity: Original Sin games on sale on Steam, so I will buy these two and play them, since they are highly recommended.

I first watched this review over a year ago, Avarti convinced me to buy the game but at the time it was selling for £34 on steam - so I waited patiently for the inevitable steam sale. A few months later the steam sale was on and I purchased the game for £7. I am in the middle of playing the game and wow, it is amazing and lives up to everything Avarti said in this review. If it wasn't for this review the game would have gone unnoticed by me. I was stunned by the sheer amount of mods available for the game in Steam Workshop. On my first play through I've tried to have very few mods - one of them allows you carry as many items as you like without being encumbered which is nice. If any part of you if tempted to try the game - DO IT!

Even thinking The Witcher 3 is the “pinnacle” of RPG’s is mind boggling to someone like me, who doesn’t just play the latest AAA drivel... It’s barely even a RPG! More of a extremely casual, handholding open-world action adventure with RPG-lite elements. That being said, D:OSII is in some ways a genre defining masterpiece.

Biggest issue with this game to me is there not enough party chatter like there was in dragon age series, you have party members who hate each other and through your adventures you hear interesting stories, funny insults and stuff. In this game there very quiet, they only talk with certain key events happen, but other then for most of the quest it really quiet.

DOS2 is my gold-standard for how to implement multiplayer in an RPG. The first time I played it with my friends was probably the most fun I have had with any video game... ever. If I could delete my memories of my first play-through and experience it again for the first time with my friends I would do so, that is how good it is. Not flawless (the balance is a bit whack, when you min-max you become pretty much unbeatable by the end of act 2), damn amazing. And all the little quality of life changes are what makes it (multiplayer especially) such a treat.

I know that I am extremely late to the party here, but Divinity 2 Definitive Edition has just become 60% off on Steam. I HOPE someone can answer me these questions, but I'm sure this comment will get lost, or it will be too late. 1) Does the game have Difficulty Settings? 2) Is there Character Customization? + a choice for a particular Class/Build? 3) Can you consistantly buy new weapons/gear/spells? and upgrade them? 4) (Don't hate me for comparing games, even I hate it when people do that) But does it play similar to Diablo/Torchlight? Just with Turn-Based combat instead? If I get a reply before the deal ends... I'll give you a virtual high five, hell, even a high ten! I know, that's a crazy offer!

1. Yeah. Story, explorer, classic, tactician and honour (hardest one). 2. Yep. Fextralife youtube channel will be very useful. Also yeah you can customize your char, or you can choose one of the "origin" characters, which are more integrated to the lore. 3. Buy new weapons yeah. You'll need to. Upgrade? A lvl 10 chest armour will always be lvl 10 (with a few exceptions), but you can add runes to it for additional buffs and combine it with items (one specifically) to make it better. 4. Nothing like Diablo, except for the isometric perspective. Never played Torchlight so wouldn't know. Just get it. It's so good it might ruin your life.

Tactician is the hardest difficulty. Honor mode is just iron man mode in which if your character does, it's permanent and your save is deleted. There are no classes you can build your character with any combination you want. Every level up vendors and merchants obtain new gear. Loot is mostly random and you can upgrade armor and weapons with a certain character. It's a turn based game but it's combat heavy.

Just a quick note: Calling the game "Divinity 2" is confusing, since that's another game in the Divinity series. Anyhow, the first Original Sin game happened like 1000 years before this one, so it's not really related, except for lore purposes. If anything, the older games are more related since they tell the tale of Lucian, though the lore books in the game do and excellent job of a quick update on his origins.
