Part of the project included a cover of "I Touch Myself" and features 10 female Australian artists (Olivia Newton John, Megan Washington, Sarah McLeod, Katie Noonan, Sarah Blasko, Suze DeMarchi, Deborah Conway, Kate Ceberano, Little Pattie and Connie Mitchell). The song was released in June 2014 and peaked at number 72 on the ARIA charts.[32] Cancer Council NSW stated, "Through this campaign we are encouraging women to get to know their breasts better, to know what is normal for them and to participate in breast screening if they’re in the right age range."

It did, ahem, "straddle" the fence of what was considered acceptable, especially to hear on the radio or watch on MTV. There were a lot of attempts to censor music and TV in the 80s and 90s, but there was always an artist who pushed the boundaries! I always believed, if this song came out 10 years earlier (this was a hit in 1991-ish), it would've been completely banned.

This song... about 20 years ago, my wife had inherited a property in Minnesota and was cleaning it up. We lived in southern Iowa at the time. I hadn't seen her for a week and made the long drive up to see her and her progress. Sometime early in the drive this song came on the radio and it sparked my imagination and lots of anticipation. When I finally arrived, around 11 PM, I tried to initiate some role play based around this song. She responded by saying that this was the filthiest song she had ever heard and always had hated it and she proceeded to berate me for a couple hours about how I could imagine such things in regards to her. She had never taken such a puritanical stance on anything like this before. It was so bad that I ended up leaving and driving back home. Didn't see her again for a couple of weeks, and I was forbidden to discuss the topic ever since. Ruined the song for me.

For the record, guys, even for a song with such a direct sexual hook, when she sings "I want you to love me" it means "I want you to fuck me." This is part of a a longstanding tradition of songwriting euphemisms. Back in the '40s, '50s, it was lyrics like "and when we finally 'fall in love'," that absolutely implied: "when we finally have sex." That way it could be broadcast over the radio and TV. Kids didn't necessarily get the meaning, but adults certainly did. Hell, even Ed Sullivan prevented the Rolling Stones from singing "Let's spend the Night Together," demanding they sing "Let's spend some time together," and when Mick Jagger rolled his eyes while singing that line, Ed (unsuccessfully) banned them from his show.

they pretty much were when it was released, the band had trouble getting airplay in some markets and even had issues with having concerts stopped in the middle during this song. the first guise of "PC" (a second movement of censorship similar to the PMRC/satanic panic of the 80s) was around this time - politically it was called "family values" this round. there was a lot of pushback from musicians and comedians at the time, with rap and metal being the most vocal musical genres - see anything to do with 2 live crew in florida, ice t's "freedom of speech... just watch what you say" ep, metallica's song "eye of the beholder", anthrax's "starting' up a posse", or tool's "hush". for examples of how things were at the time.

Berto says "self love" and goes back to a controlled off and on "metronome bop" as Big Bro Brad labels it strange before throwing lil Bro under the proverbial bus but gives the song a bit of a "side to side sway" with Lex in the middle providing a soft "frontal bop".

The longer the song lasted, the more serious looking Brad's brother was and rocking to the tune... I love this song, definetly one of my favourites from my childhood. Her voice makes it evenmore likebable somehow, warm soothing. Always liked the lyrics, nothing creepy whatsoever, just about a woman infatuated with a guy, someone she wants to be with. "I search myself, I want you to find me. I forget myself, I want you to remind me" not just sex alone, though 90% of it is. And that is just fine. Not sleazy or dirty, just downright sexy. Nothing wrong with that. And I remebered her little twirl she does in the middle of the song, I so love that. I honestly do...

This was the song back in the day!! Everybody loved it! Everybody would sing it. And it was from the early 90's not the 80's. Christina Amphlett, the lead singer, sadly died of breast cancer and multiple sclerosis in 2013.

Lex: She’s very flexible. Bero: That’s interesting. I think it’s about self-love.😂

Everyone always remembers this one, but my fave from the Divinyls is, "Make Out Alright". Reminded me of Ronnie Spector. R.I.P. to both of them...

This was the 90s. In the 80s we were going around singing Cindi Lauper’s “She-bop” 🤣

Check out any other track from the Divinyls self-tilted album if this was too much for you. It's a great album, and the rest of it is more likely to amaze than to offend. Try "Bullet" or "I'm on Your Side," for starters. This album still sounds fresh today.

Good one Lex, "I honestly do!" My fave line too from that song. Brad exaggerates as usual. It was a witty great song that got sooo much radio play in 1990 I think. Catchy hooks, and lyrics. Great pop song when there was still a lot of real music played on the radio.

This was their big Pop hit, but they were predominantly a Rock/ New Wave band.. Best Songs are "Boys In Town", "Pleasure and Pain", "Ring Me Up", "Science Fiction", "Elsie", and "I'll Make You Happy"..

When I was a kid in school there was a jukebox in the cafeteria, they were foolish enough to have this song on it. At the end of lunch 200 people would be packed waiting to leave this massive cafeteria and I knew how to crack into the jukebox so every lunch. I would crack into the back of it turn it up full blast get the song going 99 times and then all of the kids were crowd in front of it so the teachers couldn’t shut it off and it would blast all way down the hallways all the way to the first floor of the high school. good times 90’s

I love the use of the bass guitar in this song. Some songs keep it more to the background and I have to listen closely for it, but for this one it's front and center.

The most expression I've seen on Brad's face to date, haha!
