As a single dad, best to focus on yourself and your kids with plates being the last thing to spend time on. Many women will try to compete for time and resources from your kid trying to take first place in priority. My opinion best find hobbies, family/friends, and focus on the kids. Date here and there at the end of the day women will only complicate life unless you find a good one. Spinning plates will help the good ones pop up.

Rich, I can say with experience, that your advice was 100 percent on point. I was, a few years ago, 30 years old with a 2 year old daughter on my own and starting over. Spinning plates, avoiding single moms, keeping my daughter separated from my dating and chasing excellence led me to marry the right woman years later and have 4 more children. It wasn't easy but it can be done. It has been said below but very important - do not marry a single mom or woman over 30; neither will not put your child first. Make sure that after vetting, the right woman subscribes to your frame of fatherhood unconditionally.

If your a single father, there is no reason to introduce your child to the person your dating until it is very serious. Meaning engaged! It's nobody's business and prevents unnecessary drama, it also gives an opportunity to see red flags well in advanced. Instead focus on constant self development, being as good a Dad as possible, being actively involved, developing a good relationship with the children, leading by example. Your child is watching you always and forming their perceptions of how to act and behave when in similar circumstances, especially with priorities of relationships and dating, so be careful who you expose a young impressionable mind to. They don't need to see what they don't need to know, keep dating very discrete and know where to prioritize your time. And for God sakes rub one out if your (needs) start to surface above you rationality!

Where I am at there’s serious risk associated with prostitution. I was told I could lose time with my kids and worse if there’s news headlines of an arrest (termination, business reputation loss). In her teens Keep your frame with your daughter and set those boundaries and stick by it. And be frank with when it comes to her dating. She needs to keep her purity and can't be a hoe, simple. especially if she wants to get married and point out those women that you see are damaged and no good and tell her "You see her? I'm in a similar situation. Only 28 years old w/ an (almost-)3 year old. Moved to a different state to be near my ex after she cheated on me, since her new bf lives around here. I like this area way better and it's fun being a dad during the 50/50 of weeks I have my son, but still struggling to even meet new people since I know literally no one here, and half the time I really can't go out & do anything because I have my kid. The main reason women don't want to date or get involved with a custodial parent man is they are concerned (rightly or wrongly) that the child's mother will ALWAYS be around and involved with the father. While the same may be true for a woman who has custody of her children, women know that the divorced mother is more likely to want to "re-involve" herself with the dad, and he may be more likely to fall for her sob stories. I had primary custody of my daughter for many years, and many of the women I dated were harsh and critical of her......to the point that I basically stopped dating until my daughter was grown. DON'T fall for any Hollywood-style romantic story of "blending" families......it's all a lie.

I love being on my own, after a short stint of swiping on Tinder and Bumble I found it soul destroying looking at the attitudes in the Bio's and I just deleted my accounts. The very best women are already in relationships and are something of a unicorn. Single women are very undesirable. My mates are married and don't want to talk to girls on nights out and that makes meeting and building rapport next to impossible. I find the thought of being alone forever a little depressing so you have to get used to compromising on how fulfilling your life will be.

Seriously dating a single mother is potentially much worse. A man may be burdened with the financial and social responsibilities of her kids without any authority. A responsible single dad on the other hand could potentially provide for a woman (including children if she wants them) and if there is stability and security there is potential for strong family. The single dad would also have potential for authority which is important in children's lives. The reverse with single mothers simply isn't true in the majority of cases. However that being said single fathers do carry baggage. The question is do his attributes and qualities outweigh the baggage of having a child in tow? It is quite frankly just simpler dating a person without kids.

I’m in a similar situation but I have full custody of my 3 kids… it’s a lot of work. I’m 40, 5/10, 180lbs. I make 6 figures and have no debt outside of my mortgage. Dating was very hard, even when I was 50/50 custody. I couldn’t find anyone worth committing to. Every woman that I felt was a good catch, wasn’t interested in me because of my 3 kids. Add on top, I had a vasectomy already. So, more kids were not going to be an option. It wasn’t until my friends introduced me to my current girlfriend that I found someone to be in a committed relationship. Yes, I did have to lower my standards. She has 2 kids of her own, she has some trust issues with men, she gets a little too drunk when she goes out with friends, she’s a couple years older, and she lives 90 miles away! On the plus side, she’s very attractive, we genuinely get a long, we have similar parenting philosophies, and she is a very kind person to everyone. She’s not everything I’ve always wanted, but neither am I. Some times you gotta take what you are given and be grateful.

If you're a solo father and want to date here's a couple rules I keep- 1) Never let them know where you live 2) NEVER let them meet your child 3) Never let them know where you work 4) Never let them know which school your child attends A scorned woman will call cps will allegations, police if she knows your pick up drop off times, etc. Not that you have anything to hide, but they can create stress with this basic information. Vet them for minimum of 1 year before even giving a hint at any of the above.

The marriage license is only a little over a hundred years old. Marriage is considered a traditional foundation of Western society which is why people still get married (and a tool that women use to get men to commit) but really if you are an atheist there really isn't any reason to get married other than following tradition which was based on faith. You can have a long term relationship, family and kids without a marriage license (if you get a woman to accept terms). Marriage tradition has simply been programmed into us from an early age. Personally I think government should get their nose out of the business of marriage as much as possible where at most a private contract agreement can be set and negotiated between 2 individuals who want a long-term relationship and family (If people want to call that marriage so be it...they can call it whatever they want).

Parents who don’t love kids start walking away from the families and ignore the responsibility of being a parent. He's clearly not ready. I'm fortunate to find a green flag woman following my divorce, but the radar is still always on for signs that they may change colour. I'm not even sure you can be with a woman with absolutely zero red flags. I think you need to filter out the ones that don't matter to you whilst keeping the core red flags very much on your mind. Correct me if i am wrong(and sorry for my poor English skills). I think that creating an emotional bond with kids or nursing or nourishing kids is usually a feminine characteristics or lets say skill. As a man, you would want to take more of decision power related to kids upbringing, be their guidance, find solutions to their problems, protect them from any harm or be a financial provider. Isn't it better to leave the kids with the mother. I think she tricked him really well, so that he takes maximum custody and she is probably enjoying her party life again. Isnt it better to leave the kids with mother after divorce, logically speaking, as her chances of getting pregnent gets lower each year as she grows older and mostly its women biological needs to become a mother. As a man you can easily make your ideal family with your ideal women even after your 50's. But again, seems like this guys focus is on having a family, that really sounds like a desperate female talking in her late 20's.

If you are a single parent and someone else is at home with your kids even if it is your own parents while you are trying to get laid than you are not putting your kids first. Wait til they grow up before going out and getting involved with other people. Don't bring women around your son, he's been through enough. Make sure the woman you do bring around him you have a solid relationship with and that takes time to vet her like Rich says, 2+ years. There's a multitude of options out there that doesn't involve traditional dating. Which in my opinion is just lame. With the right mindset honestly, any situation or interaction can lead to whatever else. You have to be genuinely living with yourself as the main protagonist in your story. Purpose is beyond powerful. Standing for something. Goals larger than personal needs. Then at the same time just being yourself. Trust your instincts. If you know how to do that while having a laugh and not taking yourself too seriously socially, you should do ok. Everything is a numbers game. How focsued you chase those $ can be how consistently you chase some experiences. I'm a career salesman with my own company that does well. I deal with people on lots of different levels daily. I've made a career out of knowing my markets and people in general. Instant rapport and fast close in an organic way. This translates directly to woman if you choose for it to. And I do. Regularly. Point is, you need to consistently put yourself in any given situation personal and professional to develop your flow. It's all just a numbers game.
