Thank you for the kind words. Yes, the shims in the first column are required for it to vend correctly and consistently. Some products may work without the shims this does not mean that every product will work with out them.

Thanks Alex very helpfull. This might sound silly but can you show how to convert 12 ounce can slots, to be able to vend to the large Monster and Rockstar energy drink cans? Not sure if these machines are designed for this. Sounds like the small Redbull cans do not vend well in these. Super helpful!

Not sure if you went over this but I have a Dixie narco 501e and we changed the spacer and Cham for cans but don’t know what kind of shim is in there . I know there is no rods. We tried vending cans and was successful on the first try. However the second time we vended two cans.

this is all good but i think you need to show more problems on the double column motor the right way to install the link arm the right way. also why does it vend 1 then none and then 2 so forth ? is it a bad motor? its set up the right way still doesn't vend right.

Do you have a 501e or just a 501? Also does this control board have a single blue service button or two service buttons? I am trying to decipher if you have a S2 or S2D control board in your machine. Lastly what type of bill validator are you using and how is it interfacing. MDB or SERIAL?

How hard is it to take off a vendo 721 front door? I have a very narrow door opening and a low ceiling that prevents me from clam shelling the door upright? If I took the door off I could get it through on its side... Thank you Keep up the good work!

It is not too difficult to remove the door. The top hinge will need to be removed from the cabinet as it resets into the door. Getting to the nuts of the top hinge will prove to be the challenge. If you are going to be moving the machine to a full horizontal state then keep in mind this can damage the cooling deck. Let the machine stand upright once inside for 48 hours (this is speculative and always open for debate). This can and does void the warranty if the machine has one.

You need to have the can shim and rod & spring. Set the timing cam to 1 for the narrow columns and adjust the back spacer accordingly.

Thanks for the great video, but I have several questions b/c I'm having many issues. I'm new to vending and had a "pro" help me setup my DN501e. What is the purpose of the rods? He said I didn't need the rods in my 12oz can columns. When we did test vends, it seemed to be working fine for the most part. But in 2 columns, sometimes it will drop 3 cans, sometimes it will drop 1 can. Is this b/c of the lack of rods? But in the other can columns without rods, it works fine and vends 1 can every test. Second, I'm trying to vend 20oz Gatorade in the wide column. What kind of shim is needed for that? Do you have a link to what I need? I've also got a coin mech that won't give change and I cannot figure out why. I've been fighting this battle for 2 weeks now and I'm very frustrated as this is my first machine. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

12oz cans can be vended with out a rod & spring and have about a 90% success rate of not double vending. Dixie Narco recommended using a rod & spring when vending 12oz cans. I have seen vendors not use them in order to save on parts cost. For 20oz Gatorade bottles in the wide column for selection one. You will need x4 plastic bottle shims. x2 on the left and x2 on the right. Timing cam set to hole #3 and back spacer set to hole #15. Does the coin changer's payout solenoids make a clicking sound when try to dispense the change using the coin dump option on the control board? Press mode button. Navigate to C-D. Then press button 1 for .5 payout, button 2 for .10 payout, button 3 for .25 payout.

Trying to put 16.9 Poland springs in column one, is there bottle shims for the wide column and would Poland spring bottles be solid enough to vend

If the Poland Springs water bottle make a 'crinkling sound' when you squeeze it then this bottle may be too soft. Water bottles tend to get softer as they get colder. This can lead to jamming issues. You can try placing x3 black plastic can shims and x2 black plastic bottle shims on both the left and right and sides to help with these softer water bottle. There is no guarantee that this will be a consistent vend every time.

Most likely you will need the Rod & Spring along with the 12oz can shims. Best thing to do is to check the machine physically to see if the cradles have a Rod & Spring in them.

Do you have four can shims on the left and four on the right? Is the timing cam set to the correct position? If so then it could be the oscillator bushing has worn out causing to much left and right play.

Yes this machine has always been can. It has never been charged from can before. It has the shims but the bushings have a slit all the way through them. Do they supposed to be cut into like that??? Either way I ordered new bushings for this double column motor. But it seems not to have much play in it but it may be enough to cause one can to pass by with another. I thought it may not be stopping like it should. It does it in the same place of the rotation cycle every time.

You can do a search for 'Dixie Narco 501E Bottle Shim' and you find several results to purchase from. For 16.9oz bottles in the narrow columns the parts you will need are a 12oz can or bottle shim and a rod & spring. Set the timing cam to either 2 or 3 depending on the diameter of the bottle. Insert the rod and spring into hole B and adjust the back spacer to hole #23. (Video Coming) I hope this helps and thank you for watching.

You can use can shims as well as the bottle shims. You will need the rod and spring placed into hole B and set your timing cam to either 2 or 3 depending on the bottle diameter.

Not exactly. The concept would be the same on an R series. Though the R series uses different parts than the E series in way of shims. Most R series that I have come across where the shim-less stack models. Only thing needing to be adjusted was the back spacer and the time cam on the motor.

Seems like you said everything correctly and what not but nothing you made my machine which is a 501E 13 holes only holds like 2 1/2 cans deep 4 shims on each sides makes it were the tumbler doesn’t load the next set if three which is actually 17 holes basically all the way to the back… this is referring to the number 1,2,3 slots which are all double load slots

Depending on the type of control board that is in your Coke-A-Cola branded machine. Being that your machine is a 368CC that was manufactured for Coke-A-Cola there maybe some different programing steps for this.
