This is just what I need to do. Great video. I saw another question about the padding. What glue do you use and where do you get the strip that goes around it? I am looking On Amazon for the supplies. Upholstery tacks? Would like leather but may have to go faux. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I made the strip myself. It's just a little strip of leather with edges tucked in and glued. The best glue for these kinds of things is contact adhesive. I'm sure you can use the spray-type as well. I used the thick spreadable version of it. Faux leather is fine, just make sure it is not too thick otherwise, it won't go around the corners nicely.

what are the products you used, down to the padding? I've reupholstered before but not down to the padding removal. Have stools like this, and would love to redo properly

Hi Alicia, the very first piece of 1 inch foam you see us gluing on the seat is called rebonded foam. It is basically compressed foam offcuts of different colors. It is really tough and will never give. It will still provide a certain degree of comfort even when the top layer of foam is completely flat from usage. The second pink one is a high density half inch foam it is glueable and will bend around the corners and follow the contours of the seat. This provides a softer touch you won't get from the rebonded foam alone. Make sure you glue every layer because it is a curved seat and you don't want any air pockets in between. You can use any commercially available upholstery glue ( spray on or spreadable ) for the purpose. Also avoid very thick leathers and make sure to tuck the corners in neatly. Drive the decorative nails in afterwards and you are good to go. Hope this helps !
