When I was thinking about quiet computing few years ago I was considering putting a PC case in separate room, drilling a hole through a wall for cables and placing LED screen, keyborad, mouse and USB hub in another room. This would be the cheapest solution for computer noise & low air humidity problem. And then SSDs, fanless CPUs and mobos, tablets became popular ;)

Brilliant design. You should commercialize this, improve the design, if it's a bit complex, make it more easier for user to install his hardware in it, maybe offer a special mounting bracket for the GPU because that's an enourmous cooler. I would definitely be interested in buying this. The button at the top for backing up, quite handy but maybe make it programmable so user can apply some function of his own for the button to do.

10/10 would buy if available. kickstarter or submit to case companies? Never seen a case with such efficient airflow. PSU's that spin fan up only after a certain temperature could work too if the case had a PSU mounting bracket with heatsinks on it for intake to pass through. love the design though and the way you disassembled PSU for case airflow instead. SO much more efficient.

I like the way you think. I want to build a PC out of wood and have been doing lots or research with airflow. Airflow naturally flows counterclockwise. Hint. Your right computer cases need to change. I even looked at the airflow going the complete opposite direction from the normal case. I would change the fans to Arctic P14 (140mm). They are pwm and static pressure, very quiet and at a good price. Love the front IO shield at the top.

@hellterminator
@hellterminator 9 жыл бұрын
DIY Perks Just because it doesn't look dusty it doesn't there isn't a ton of dust trapped inside. I used dust filters in my PC as well and dust still gets in. I'm not saying that dust filters don't work but the ones that do are quite dense so you need much stronger fans to pull the air through (and I didn't want that because I, too, went for a quiet build).
@xSkittlesxNewbx
@xSkittlesxNewbx 9 жыл бұрын
***** It all depends on how dust and untidy your room is as well, don't forget, the dust to go in there has to come from somewhere... and if you generally clean your place, you are more likely to have a lower dust build up.

@z1mt0n1x2
@z1mt0n1x2 9 жыл бұрын
CVLova CV Isn't always better at all. Don't forget that when you're watercooling you're "point cooling" certain parts of a PCB, leaving other components out. Such as BIOS chips, audio processors, possibly the entire southbridge unless you're custom looping, and *all* the voltage regulators around the CPU socket. To remove the heat from those components you'll need airflow, and, what are you doing with watercooling if you need airflow? Noctua CPU coolers actually performs much better than closed WC units up till the H100, and is being quieter, while providing airflow. Also, moving heat is done faster via air than water, as the air just gets moved out of the case and doesn't need to be cooled down.
@CVLova
@CVLova 9 жыл бұрын
Well in most cases. The bios chip is on the side . but think about it. 4way SLI/crossfire. That means theres 3 cards with blocked fans and is 10. Times louder than having a huge watercooling on the whole system.. Why aint there coolers on the motherboard bios chip? And why do people recommend watercooling over stock fans. Vetter performance, lower temps, more silent, longer life. Now closed watercooling punps are way different than custom. Look it up.. .

CVLova CV I know :P For larger setups it's a lifesaver to have the option to watercool. But mostly, mainstream wise it's not that common with SLI/CFX, yet... But it looks cool either way. Actually, I was thinking of doing a submerged build next time with something that cools the oil. Maybe I have to go with a two-pump setup?

Temperatures under heavy load please. GPU with furmark (vram, power phases and processor itself) and CPU with cinebench. Also, what GPU and CPU is that?
@EpicSpence
@EpicSpence 9 жыл бұрын
2nd that. some temps under load would back up the talk. Be interesting to see how much the sound dampening is actually insulating the unit. with ssd, large fans and passive coolers I'd be interested to know if the dust magnets are necessary. looks pretty sweet on the outside though

+Belfor09 He already did a vid answering those questions the GPU was a gtx460 i think and it was maxed at 60c with the fans at their lowest speed (for silence) on furmark. I didn't see anything about the CPU. Yes it's not exactly a world altering GPU. But i reckon the principle is sound.

the cpu cooler on graphics card is a good idea but wouldn't having it liquid more practical and quieter.
@DIYPerks

bob(the one that is at war with google +) Practical perhaps, because you can fit it in most cases, but not quieter. Watercooling needs pumps which make noise, whereas heatsinks on their own make no noise at all.

bob(the one that is at war with google +) That's actually a really interesting question. I expect that without any air to pass over the heatsinks (if it was in a perfect vacuum) it would probably just get hotter and hotter until it switched itself off. Not 100% sure though. I'm sure someone who knows more about physics will fill us in with some facts if they see this.

I have only today wandered onto your channel. So far, from your first video, you seem like... (narrator's voice) One day, whilst working in a normal audio card factory, you were struck by a power surge giving you a keen sense of hearing. You have taken what you have learned at the factory and employed it into a Frankenstein hodgepodge of projects to make your world bend to your will (with silence or loudness depending). But it's totally cool stuff man. Never underestimate an intelligent person with a soldering iron in a world full of circuits! Great job and looking forward to the rest of the videos.

Your computer is still going to catch fire and possibly burn your house down. PSUs and their cases are specifically designed to limit the chance of an electrical spark causing a fire or frying any other part of your computer with improper amounts of energy. You've taken away the specifically designed case and replaced it with a towel. There is a reason you never see professional modders modifying their PSUs. It's because they realize this. It's amazing that you are somehow intelligent enough to design a rather impressively quiet PC but are too stupid to understand the very basics of how an electrical fire starts. You have the potential for a spark, you have the heat, and with the towel you've given it the fuel.
@Kevin-xw1eo
@Kevin-xw1eo 9 жыл бұрын
vexx506 You still have a situation that will likely cause a fire. You have a PC stuffed with rather flammable towels, it has rather low airflow which rises temperatures, and you have a partially disassembled PSU which could cause sparks. Yes if this is done perfectly it shouldn't be a problem but this isn't the type of thing you should show off on a youtube video without the disclaimer that "This CAN cause a fire rather easily" this guy does the exact opposite which is dishonest, misinformed, and irresponsible.
@ntcarver

*****, It's all very well the high voltage side is isolated and enclosed but with reduced voltage comes increased current (and therefore heat P = I^2R) and I have seen countless photos online of peoples dodgy SATA adapters catch fire proving it is entirely possible for a failure at the low voltage side to start a fire.

@Andre78923
@Andre78923 8 жыл бұрын
Water cooling is not inferior, because there is no limit to how big surface area your radiator can be, hell you can even take your loop out of the case and mount it on a car radiator. Also water cooling can be quieter cause bigger surface area mean you can mount bigger fans that move more air at lower speeds. With air cooling you are confined to that little space there only so much you can do.

More cooling but there is some noise. Watercooling would be louder then his computer, but watercooling is quieter then a normal air cooled computer, with a normal air cooled gpu.
@derp6632

I stay away from water cooling for the sake of maintenance and risk of leaks. Yes, the fluid has a much much lower heat capacity, but ample temps can be attained with air cooling. Have you seen his video on his massive gpu cooler? Compare that to even a custom 500 dollar water cooling loop. Compare the maintenance, cost, noise, space, etc, etc, etc.
