When I was thinking about quiet computing few years ago I was considering putting a PC case in separate room, drilling a hole through a wall for cables and placing LED screen, keyborad, mouse and USB hub in another room. This would be the cheapest solution for computer noise & low air humidity problem. And then SSDs, fanless CPUs and mobos, tablets became popular ;)

You should commercialize this, improve the design, if it's a bit complex, make it more easier for user to install his hardware in it, maybe offer a special mounting bracket for the GPU because that's an enourmous cooler. I like the way you think. I want to build a PC out of wood and have been doing lots or research with airflow. Airflow naturally flows counterclockwise. Hint. Your right computer cases need to change. I even looked at the airflow going the complete opposite direction from the normal case. I would change the fans to Arctic P14 (140mm). They are pwm and static pressure, very quiet and at a good price. Love the front IO shield at the top.

***** Dust is filtered before the air enters the case, so I don't think it will. It's not even slightly dust yet, in any case, and it's been a while since it was finished (almost a year in fact).
@hellterminator9 жыл бұрын
DIY Perks Just because it doesn't look dusty it doesn't there isn't a ton of dust trapped inside. I used dust filters in my PC as well and dust still gets in. I'm not saying that dust filters don't work but the ones that do are quite dense so you need much stronger fans to pull the air through (and I didn't want that because I, too, went for a quiet build).
@xSkittlesxNewbx9 жыл бұрын
***** It all depends on how dust and untidy your room is as well, don't forget, the dust to go in there has to come from somewhere... and if you generally clean your place, you are more likely to have a lower dust build up.

but you cant do this method in sli or crossfire. so therefore watercooling will always better. but that case is very clean, i must say!.
@z1mt0n1x29 жыл бұрын
CVLova CV Isn't always better at all. Don't forget that when you're watercooling you're "point cooling" certain parts of a PCB, leaving other components out. Such as BIOS chips, audio processors, possibly the entire southbridge unless you're custom looping, and *all* the voltage regulators around the CPU socket. To remove the heat from those components you'll need airflow, and, what are you doing with watercooling if you need airflow? Noctua CPU coolers actually performs much better than closed WC units up till the H100, and is being quieter, while providing airflow. Also, moving heat is done faster via air than water, as the air just gets moved out of the case and doesn't need to be cooled down.
@CVLova9 жыл бұрын
Well in most cases. The bios chip is on the side . but think about it. 4way SLI/crossfire. That means theres 3 cards with blocked fans and is 10. Times louder than having a huge watercooling on the whole system.. Why aint there coolers on the motherboard bios chip? And why do people recommend watercooling over stock fans. Vetter performance, lower temps, more silent, longer life. Now closed watercooling punps are way different than custom. Look it up.. .
@CVLova9 жыл бұрын
Take a gpu cooler of and look where there is CPU/gpu grease Thats where its cooling
@z1mt0n1x29 жыл бұрын
CVLova CV I know :P For larger setups it's a lifesaver to have the option to watercool. But mostly, mainstream wise it's not that common with SLI/CFX, yet... But it looks cool either way. Actually, I was thinking of doing a submerged build next time with something that cools the oil. Maybe I have to go with a two-pump setup?

@DIYPerks9 жыл бұрын
Who uses SLI though, really? It's better than it used to be sure, but it's still got its issues and doesn't scale perfectly. I'd rather just go with a better GPU. Crossfire shouldn't be an issue though, as it doesn't need a connecting cable.
@gamermanj49 жыл бұрын
I dunno, I do, haven't had any real problems. But I could have sworn Crossfire needs a cable too... Guess not.
@egghead20489 жыл бұрын
+gamermanj4 sli, crossfire, dual gpu are shit , because of microstuttering. and will always be, single gpu flagship cards are better. plus tripple monitors arent immersive anyways, so 1 good big monitor (max 30') is fine/better.

Your computer is still going to catch fire and possibly burn your house down. PSUs and their cases are specifically designed to limit the chance of an electrical spark causing a fire or frying any other part of your computer with improper amounts of energy. You've taken away the specifically designed case and replaced it with a towel. There is a reason you never see professional modders modifying their PSUs. It's because they realize this. It's amazing that you are somehow intelligent enough to design a rather impressively quiet PC but are too stupid to understand the very basics of how an electrical fire starts. You have the potential for a spark, you have the heat, and with the towel you've given it the fuel.
@Kevin-xw1eo9 жыл бұрын
vexx506 You still have a situation that will likely cause a fire. You have a PC stuffed with rather flammable towels, it has rather low airflow which rises temperatures, and you have a partially disassembled PSU which could cause sparks. Yes if this is done perfectly it shouldn't be a problem but this isn't the type of thing you should show off on a youtube video without the disclaimer that "This CAN cause a fire rather easily" this guy does the exact opposite which is dishonest, misinformed, and irresponsible.
@ntcarver9 жыл бұрын
*****, It's all very well the high voltage side is isolated and enclosed but with reduced voltage comes increased current (and therefore heat P = I^2R) and I have seen countless photos online of peoples dodgy SATA adapters catch fire proving it is entirely possible for a failure at the low voltage side to start a fire.

We Play Ive put PC's in hard cases. THe first thing that was done was taking the PSU out of its housing. None one of these has caught first and the PSU's still work they where built 5 years ago.

one day he will discover water cooling
@Andre789238 жыл бұрын
Water cooling is not inferior, because there is no limit to how big surface area your radiator can be, hell you can even take your loop out of the case and mount it on a car radiator. Also water cooling can be quieter cause bigger surface area mean you can mount bigger fans that move more air at lower speeds. With air cooling you are confined to that little space there only so much you can do.
@bob51zhang8 жыл бұрын
+Brendan_636 Then he'll do a full room watercooling project with the radiators from 20 dead cars.
@CheapSushi8 жыл бұрын
He already discovered it because he talks about it in the video which you probably didn't really finish watching.
@thispandaispurple8 жыл бұрын
More cooling but there is some noise. Watercooling would be louder then his computer, but watercooling is quieter then a normal air cooled computer, with a normal air cooled gpu.
@derp66328 жыл бұрын
I stay away from water cooling for the sake of maintenance and risk of leaks. Yes, the fluid has a much much lower heat capacity, but ample temps can be attained with air cooling. Have you seen his video on his massive gpu cooler? Compare that to even a custom 500 dollar water cooling loop. Compare the maintenance, cost, noise, space, etc, etc, etc.

Love the logic in this build. Challenging the generally accepted concepts of case and system design and doing it with a common sense approach, though reading some of the comments I would say common sense is not so common on this planet. I have to admit, when I seen in another one of your videos that you made a case to fit a huge CPU cooler mounted to a GPU, I assumed it would be something hideous, but yet you've created an astounding looking case that also functions better than most cases out there. Very cool!
