it looks awesome especially when you consider the fact you used foam board...I still have nightmares about using it a few times for architectural models :D i hate the material with a passion but your storage unit looks amazing! i might even consider making one for my stuff, thanks for the measurements! ^_^

Well done! Very nice marker storage! I made one recently as well and I didn't think to make the shelves slanted so the markers would stay put! I may have to make a new one using some of your tips someday! =)

@Sakuems3 жыл бұрын
I don't remember giving measurements in a scan :o it depends on the foam board thickness and how many markers you want to store in each box. Hard to give measurements but you can probably found some suggestions online if you search for foam board marker storage ^^

Just hold the pieces that didn't glue towards the bottom and apply hot glue from underneath to the seams and hold it until the glue cools. It should hold it just fine and will look better than tape.

It's a really nice video, but I have to bring in some criticism. It's a really good idea to show people how to build one of these, as it's handy for your target audience, but you might try to keep it informative while cutting the video. During the process and the end of the video you kept on basically repeating yourself (example: just measure, repeated several times, or in the end, when you kept on repeating that it does what its supposed to do but it doesnt look as amazing) in my opinion the thing looked totally fine alltogether , especially if it gets decorated or taped, but I already got it when you mentioned it for the first time and it makes it harder to listen to me personally because I feel like I've heard everything before anyways. Also I would've loved to see the process of building it more than seeing the same pieces all over again, getting excited about how its put together, and then there is a sudden cut. But still a really nice Instrunction and also the little sheet you made about how to build it was really structured. have a nice day

+taniichan I spent an entire afternoon trying to articulate everything even though english isnt my native language. I simply tried to make sense and i wanted to be clear as much as i can so people understand and don't make mistakes while making their own unit because it's really easy to forget something during the process. All i said was to be informative and clear and precise. I listenned to the video carefully to make sure that i made sense and that everyone listenning would be able to make their own storage unit. Even if i repeated myself at some point, it wasn't a problem for me. The fact that in the end, it's not perfect even if i spent hours figuring how to make it just proves the point that if you want to make this, you have to be careful. the fact that i had to record everything (about 1h of raw footage cut down to 20 mins) made me loose focus and that's probably why it was hard to articulate AND make it as i was recording. Try to make videos and we'll see if you can avoid repeating yourself and make perfect sense and a perfect project too. Editing this was a pain because of how i had to record it but imo, it's ok if it's not perfect. If you got how it was suppose to work in the first few minutes, then there was no need for you to watch it all, you could have just stop right there, make your own measurement and started the project yourself. Many people need more time to figure out how something works, you have to understand that i have younger people watching me that maybe didn't even knew what foam board was or that it was possible to assemble it that way. I just thought about everyone watching me, even if it sounded and looked simple, it's not that easy to get for all people and i think it's very unconsiderate of you to say that i should have cut down the video because to me, it's better to say something more than once than to do it so quickly that people won't get it. Repeating informations for some people is essential for them to fully understand. The assembly part was the one that took me the most time and i couldn't record it which i regret now but it was too late. I simply glued down the middle part to the back first, then the sides, then inserted the horizontal shelves one by one. I'm still trying to understand if your comment was meant to be nice or not but i can't really tell. Making tutorials is harder than it looks and i wish you would just appreciate the work i put into this instead of saying what you didn't like. Because as much as i accept critiques about my artworks because i can improve on the next one, i can't really change anything for this project since it's done already and i won't be making another storage unit like that ever.
@taniichan8 жыл бұрын
Sakuems I wasn't trying to be intolerant or anything like that, nor offending you, I just wanted to give you my honest opinion on the video. And all I stated was that I thought people who want to re-build it might want to go step by step without any continuation. I just said, that I personally would've found it more useful and exciting. Nothing more than a hint from my side. Of course, it is entirely up to you how you design and edit your videos. I'll still watch them without thinking anything negative, because they're still great art videos, just as much as this one was informative. This applies, in my opinion to both young and adult audiences. Also, my native language isn't english either, and I don't think your english is bad. You just express yourself differently, but you're all understandable and I didn't mean to say that your can't express yourself well enough.
@Sakuems8 жыл бұрын
+taniichan i understand that but it's not exactly a step by step tutorial, it was really hard for to explain so i couldn't do a step by step like "do this first, then this ,then that" for some tutorials it works but here not really. I still think most people can figure it out as i explained the trickiest part but i guess it's more of "hey i built this, let me tell you what you need to know to make yours" rather than "how to, step by step, do the same". it's just a different way of making tutorials.

Do you think you could mount something like this on a wall? My desk is kinda small and if it's on the floor my dogs will knock it over ^^;
@MiaRosyCosplay8 жыл бұрын
You could just buy a shelf and put it on it :)
@AbstractlyYours8 жыл бұрын
+Nuna fish if you're comfortable with screws you can screw the back into the wall or use an L shaped hook thing to rest it on (that's what i use lol)
@brikhouse228 жыл бұрын
+Nuna fish probably not, if you screw it to the wall there is no support underneath and all the weight inside is being put on the screw holes and the glue holding the shelves to the back piece. It would work for a while but probably fall apart after a while.
@Sakuems8 жыл бұрын
+Nuna fish if you put light weight stuff, it would work, but copic inside makes the whole structure really heavy so i won't recommand it, unless you find someone to make it out of wood. However, you could put another flat wood shelf that is screwed to the wall and then put the storage on it.

would wood work bc i dont thunk my parents would want to go buy a the thing you have and ty if you anser

How did you cut the foam board? I cut it but, there was a bunch of little stray pieces hanging on
@Sakuems6 жыл бұрын
I have use a non sliding ruler and a blade, you have to enter the foam with your blade and slide it, then redo in the same cut while keeping a steady hand to make a clean cut. If you have parts hanging on it's either because you're not using the proper tool or the blade isn't sharp enough.
@lemons_areacid16316 жыл бұрын
Oh ok thanks:)

Any other materials you could use instead of the foam stuff
@Sakuems8 жыл бұрын
i heard of something called poster board that can work. anything that is thick/strudy but can easily be cut out will work. an ideal version would be made out of wood but you need special tools to cut wood so i don't know how to do it. I think you should still try to find foam board, all art store have it. but if you have no luck there, maybe office supplies stores. You can also stick together a few layers of cardboard or chipboard so it gets sturdier.

@Sakuems7 жыл бұрын
you don't really need to convert, just remember the little nick you do to slide the pieces together has to be the thickness of the foam board. You just have to do a bit of math based on that, you decide how big everything is :)

@Sakuems8 жыл бұрын
+Autymn Maas hahaha ! you can try this one yes ^^
@akinmytua46808 жыл бұрын
What I did wrong was that I did not make each cut large enough for the cardboard first... I wrestled each piece into place.
@Sakuems8 жыл бұрын
+Autymn Maas yeah it's kinda hard to find the thickness. even doing it precisely sometimes it's too tight or too loose. I think the 5mm is the easiest to cut still
@akinmytua46808 жыл бұрын
I'll have to try with foamboard. Cardboard crushes too easily.
@Sakuems8 жыл бұрын
+Autymn Maas for this structure yes, it would be too fragile. you'll need a bigger "sketelon" and that's kinda long to do. with foam board, you need less pieces :)
