DIY Corner Shelf

I found this corner shelf on Pinterest a while back. I liked the design and decided to make it for my daughter's room as a bookshelf. I have seen this design in several places over the years, but haven't seen many people build it, so i decided to make a video on the build process.
This build was also a great opportunity for me to learn Sketchup. The file was easy to create and there was no complex joinery to model out.
It was so simple that i decided to have my daughters help me to make the shelf and share in the sense of accomplishment of making something with their own hands.

I feel those shelf frames would have been better with some wood glue between the joints and sat on some plates to spread the load being pushed onto the plastic floor. 😃 great vid, sub'bed and can't wait to see more. 4:21

Tran The Clever thanks for the sub! And i did use wood glue along with super glue for the joints, if i did it again, I’d add pocketholes and screws to support the joints. Cheers 🍻

Great video. My daughter just asked me to build one for her. How did you hang it? I saw the router steps assuming it was for a mortise. Keep up the great videos.

Ok as a beginner I don’t have that many clamps. Is there a way to do it with just a couple of 24” slide clamps?

Sure. You can get it done in smaller sections. And assemble the smaller sections together once everything is cured.

O.K I'll ask , What was the 2 glue's ? Im guessing wood glue and CA, but didn't see the B. soda sprinkle trick., ha. But anyway, Great Vid, even better is showing no telling with your kids how something is made. Or being so neurotic, and not training your kids on property safety(spec. when with the saw), like I think so many others do. Lastly, Thank you for showing the peeps what a proper father does.

Yes it’s CA and wood glue. After i started using that combo I found myself using it for many applications. I try to take opportunities to spend any time i can with the kids and if they’re going to learn something I’m glad it’s with me and not from TV or internet.
