My most asked question is: where can I buy your sewing desk? While you can't buy it in store; I am showing how we made it and all the parts. My DIY custom sewing desk from a dining table castoff is the perfect sewing station that allows me to have good posture and sew for hours.

❤Great video I've been looking at alternative ideas to buying the extremely expentive sewing tables online and creating the flush top sewing area. This video is the perfect solution. One question. What is the knee lift used for? Thanks for the best idea ever. Your sewing table turned out beautifully.

Excellent!!!!!! I may have to change my mind again about my sewing table. I need something that will not shake and vibrate when my machine is running. I'm excited again, and it wont be as expensive as I originally thought.

Thank you for your video Andrea. Your father in law does beautiful work. After watching your video it inspired me to do the same with a small drop leaf Sauder sewing table. Granted, it is nothing like yours but it’ll do the job. I have a very small sewing/office room.

Wow! What a great idea. My dining table looks almost like yours. Mine also comes with a leaf which we are not even using. I would love to use my table for my machine. As you said, it is VERY HEAVY! I don't think I can get that upstairs. I would have to relocate my sewing room to my dining room. hmmm! I would feel terrible if I changed tables. My husband made me a sewing table (farm like look to it.). He did work really hard on it. I really don't think I should part with it.
@homewithandreasims4335
@homewithandreasims4335 2 жыл бұрын
That is a tough decision! Maybe repurpose your husband's table to a pressing station? We had to take apart the table for our move because it is so heavy which made it more manageable but still a task to get up and down stairs.

I have the exact table for my sewing machine table. My husband fit a piece of acrylic around my machine and cut it to fit the table. He also moved a bracket under the table. I can also add my leaf if I need. Love, love, love my table.
@homewithandreasims4335
@homewithandreasims4335 2 жыл бұрын
Oh cool! So the acrylic piece is also covering the table top? Does this help protect the wood. It is such a great size table right?
@terifairchild6817
@terifairchild6817 2 жыл бұрын
@@homewithandreasims4335 No the acrylic does not cover the table top. It is a rectangle piece of acrylic, sitting down in the table, then it’s cut to the shape of my machine like an extension table for a sewing machine, but sitting down in the table. If I change machines I will just need to get a new piece of acrylic and cut it to fit the machine.

That is craftsman ship on both your parts. Great table. I thought oh it matches her dining table (some people sew in their dining room). But what are those decorative things on the opposite side. Drawers! Drooling might start. 🙄🙂

I just got this 3 years ago so I don't anticipate on needing another. I also think if I ever wanted to upgrade that I can always cut the hole larger. I would say it is only final if you ever wanted to go smaller.

I love the idea of doing this, but then do you have to pull the whole machine out every time you need to change your bobbin?

Hi Sarah, My machine is a top loading bobbin so I dont have to do that. If you did this with a bottom loading -then yes. It is one of the reasons I chose top loading.
