Cutting composite panels for your DIY camper is easy and does not require any specialized tools. Here we’ll show you how to cut down the panel to the size of the box you want, and make a lap cut to join 2 panels together.
The tools you will need:
- Tape measure
- Straight edge and skill saw OR track saw
- Clamps
- Multi-tool
Step 1 - Mark your measurements for cutting the panel to the size of the box you want.
Step 2 - Put straight edge or track saw on and clamp down, include the offset of your skill saw.
Step 3 - Cut through the full panel - this is your overall dimensional cut.
Step 4 - Make your lap cut measurement, using the drop material. Making this cut is something we can do for you at Boreas Composite Panels to save you time.
Step 5 - Adjust the blade of your saw so it does not cut through the outer skin.
Step 6 - Make your lap cut removing one side of FRP & XPS foam while leaving the outside FRP.
Step 7 - Run a multi-tool to release the cut material and clean up the debris.
Now it’s ready to glue.
Boreas Composite Panels sells composite wall systems for DIY camper builders. The panel is an XPS foam core with a FRP woven mat skin which makes the material highly durable, well insulated and lightweight at approximately 1.6 lbs per square foot.
Remove wood from your home camper build to eliminate rot or warping.
Panels are available in sizes up to 13' long, and 60" tall with custom sizes as well. Panels are available in raw format or CNC-cut to your design.
