DIY Double Shear Hydro Assist Steering Clamp 👊 Cheap and Easy

There are lots of places to buy a clamp like this but they cost $150+ so I took a $32 Tube clamp from @Barnes 4WD ( amzn.to/3s1yd6w ) and made my own! Easy DIY project! I'm sure the clamp from 4x4 Garage and TMR are nice enough, but I'm cheap!

Take your set screw idea to the next level and drill small indents on the tie rod for them to really get a bite into it.

That's sweet. I sorta toyed with that idea myself, but I'm still a ways out before I get to hydro. It still amazes me those 6 little bolts can hold that force.

The thing is is they aren’t really holding the force of the ram they are just squeezing the tie rod, and the clamp itself is holding the force of the ram. Like the surface tension.

Nice. Just got one of these from ruff stuff, similar build. Now I know how to mod it if I ever was to go with a hydro assist setup instead of using it for a steering stabilizer lol
