A tip I found for bleeding. I installed hydroboost on my 79 bronco along with a new pump and resivoir and basicly drained my system. After spending over an hour I disconnected my ram and bled the main part of the system first, the steering box and the hydroboost then I reattached the ram and bled it in about 5 minutes.

That's a great suggestion, we did almost the same.

Not sure if I'll get a response cuz this video is so old but it would be awesome if I did. I've got am 87 4runner on some 37s and I've got a hydro assist kit on the way. My steering stops are set up right now so that my tires get about a half inch away from my leaf springs any more steering angle and I'll rub way into them. if I install a hydro assist ram I'm worried I'm going to shear my knuckle studs as soon as I hit thoes steering stops, is there any way to limit the movement of the ram and have that act as my new steering stops. Or am I just fine relying on the stock steering stops?

Do you happen to have the part number for the bracket you welded on the axle by the vent. I've orderd from 4WP multiple times after telling them what I wanted and they have sent me the wrong kit everytime.

Did you have to buy an aftermarket pump or does it work with the factory one

Thanks for sharing! 🤙🏻 Thinking about doing this to my 85 however I don’t just wheel mine, it’s also a daily. Would this affect driving on the road like hwys and stuff!?
@SnailTrail4x45 жыл бұрын
Not really, I have hydro on bobcat and it was my daily for years. There is an ever so slightly delay, and most people don't even notice it. Also Tyler says it doesn't return to center after turning as quickly. What size tires are you running?
@dwaynemontiel95555 жыл бұрын
SnailTrail4x4 thanks a lot man! Much appreciated.

After running the hydro assist for a few weeks and taking it on the trail a few times, it's awesome. The Toyota power steering pumps aren't quite as quick to respond as a full pump from PSC, so you don't get that "twitchy" feeling that a lot of Jeeps complain about on the road. Imo it just makes driving feel even more controlled. My tires try to wander on the highway a little bit, but they are no longer getting bump steer, any sort of death wobble, and if it starts wandering, it is very easy to correct without over correcting. Even if you don't wheel a ton, hydro assist is a great driving upgrade too. Cheers!

Hmm interesting! So can I run this in place of the existing steering stabilizer?
@SnailTrail4x45 жыл бұрын
Yeah! And it works way better
@wheels.and.wrenches5 жыл бұрын
It's not a steering stabilizer.
@SnailTrail4x45 жыл бұрын
@@wheels.and.wrenches You're correct, it's not a steering stabilizer, it's a hydraulic ram that only moves when you turn the steering wheel. So in a way its better then a Stabilizer

On my Rig Bobcat I've had it zip tied to the drag link for about 10 years and haven't had any issues. On the 4Runner we noticed that it was rubbing on the frame so we decided to move it to prevent potential issues in the future.
