Hello guys! In this episode we will replace the drive shaft’s inner cv joint on a Volkswagen Passat CC due to a rare symptom. In 5th and 6th gear between 80-100 km/h, while accelerating, the car starts trembling and transmits vibrations to the body.

You dont need to take apart the control arm. Turn the steering wheel maximum left or right. Then you can take out the axel.

You are right Kenneth but we also had to replace the strut mount bearing on the same car. We presented that operation in a different video. Removing the control arm is not necessary but this way you will have much more space to work.Thank you for your comment, it is nice to know that someone is attentive to detailes. Cheers!

Hey man does a inner CV joint can cause howling noise at high speeds over 70km/h Also when u dont accelerate the car noise goes away but u can still hear it a bit ..not so sure if its bearing , CV joint or transmision on a Jetta

We can not diagnose mechanical issues without testing the car. A howling noise increasing in intensity along with vehicle speed is usually the sign of a bad wheel hub bearing but without seeing the car it would not be fair to give advice over the internet.

Did you torque the bolts on the inner cv?

Nel just handtightened the bolts but I would reckon 40 Nm should be enough

Helpful to me. Thank you. At around 8.10 mins you describe removing the "cap". Were you "spreading" the lip of the cap just a little by getting the screwdriver under the lip? Looked like you were to me, but you sped up the film - so unclear. If the lip of the cap is held to the cv joint assembly by friction, then why not use something non-marking to move it? Like a brass dolly?

Hello mate! You are right ,my colleague is just spreading the lip of the cap with the screwdriver. Any non marking tool is just as useful. The important thing to notice was that the cap is not held by any more bolts. You can use any tool you like as long as you don't damage the cap.Thank you for your comment!
