Today Mr Soap & Clay is building a soap mold, giving you measurements, and I'm gonna show you how to line it. Good times were had by all, and since I was not running the saw, everything went according to plan.

Yes, my title screen says "day one, all about lye" or whatever. No, that is not what I uploaded. I reuploaded and threw off the timing for the premiere as a result, and it still says that. Mea Culpa.

If you drill a couple 1/4" holes in the bottom of the mold you'll be able to pull out the soap loaf easier, because science :)

I LOVE this video. I've been waiting for help to make moulds so I'm going to give it a go myself as I do actually have a mitre saw of my own from eons ago doing skirting boards. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Soap and Clay

I use a silicone loaf molds that likes to bow out so I had to get a $2 thing of wood and cut it down to rubber band the two sides together to get rid of bowing. My dad who never uses saws for anything took the saw away from me and cut it because I was going too slow for him😂

Wood is never flat in my state, it’s a conspiracy!! I built my first mold out of scrap pieces in the basement. It’s not perfectly square but it is close enough and I’m excited to try it out soon. My dimensions are almost the same as what you had posted so watching you line it made me happy. It’s easier to visualize on my own mold 👍

Sometimes the “not perfectly square” gives a handmade soap it’s character. For some designs, even end pieces look more “handmade”. Use whatever you have for your advantage.

Here I sit, watching this video for ohhhhhhhhh, I don't know, about the third or fourth time without being amazed at how beautifully they turned out. Oh, yes - I fully plan on building my own molds (please pray for me)! Wood - $12.00, Hardware - $8 - $10.00, hospital bills after I've accidentally amputated at least four fingers, and screwed the palm of the hand remaining to the end of one of the molds???? PRICELESS (snicker - maybe I'll get my hubby to help, just sayin')!!! As far as lining the molds?? If you'd ever seen my gift wrapping skills, you'd have absolutely no trouble guessing that I am the reason decorative gift bags were invented . By the way, do you know how you would get silicone out of bandages??? 🙃

You can use reuse tacks to hold your mold in place also. I use tacks and when I’m finished I just put the tacks inside the mold so I don’t lose them and they are there for the next time I re-line the mold.

I also will build a wooden mold the same size as a mold that certain companies sell for a very expensive price and then just buy their silicone liner for some of my molds so I don’t have to line it myself.

This was fun and interesting! And something I'll never use. Lol. Cause I do NOT have the tools and I'm TERRIFIED of power tools. I also don't have the skill at manual cutting to get that bit right. I'm also anal retentive enough that if it doesn't square off **perfectly** then I'll hate it. So, yeah it's definitely better for me to buy molds from like Nurture Soap. My brain likes me better this way... lol But still a good and fun video!

Hi, people say using paper for line the wooden soap mold will absorb the oil from soap,, means the super fat will decrease What do you think about it?
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay Ай бұрын
Hey! Regular paper will absorb the easiest liquid until it’s saturated and breaks down. Lined paper will not absorb anything.
