It is really sad that this kind of misinformation is given to millions of people on a top rated TV show. Adding a little bit of table salt is doing nothing for balancing your electrolytes. You need magnesium, zinc, potassium, etc….and if the salt isn’t coming from the sea or mountains, it ‘s just sodium. Also, there is no need for all the sugar! You can put a little stevia, monk fruit or erythritol in it and it won’t spike the blood sugar or cause insulin problems. This is idiotic. 6 tsps of table sugar to 1 liter of water! And it’s okay for babies?! I have to go cry now…

Well, honey does have nurtrients in it. I prefer molasses, redmons sea salt too. I actually made myself a drink with lemon juice, coconut water salt and potassium this morning. I ran out of my favorite brand so I had to make it. I never got shaky or dry mouth like I had before. So it worked very well for me. I agree with to lack of information and misinformation though. But no sugar! Its not needed. However, Its better for third world countries that need energy because being dehydrated ususally means the child is also hungry.

@@PhotonGames healthy sugars are fine, like maple sugar and honey. They even have healthy minerals in them if you buy the right kinds that aren't overly processed. But I don't understand why she is using highly processed sugar that is devoid of any minerals or health value. Also she should have specified sea salt or Himalayan pink salt rather than everyday table salt which has anti-caking ingredients, iodine, etc. I've been hearing a lot about salt that has micro plastic particles in it a lot lately also.
@PhotonGames2 жыл бұрын
@@mothershelper1981 Healthy sugar is still sugar. syrup and honey will still spike blood sugar and insulin like crazy. Fine in moderation, but there are better sources of nutrition.
@mothershelper19812 жыл бұрын
@@PhotonGames I totally get what you're saying. Keep the sugar as low as we can. Just that if we are going to use something in that category at least unrefined sugars can be used by the body for energy versus the empty calories of refined cane sugar and corn syrup that are probably GMO with no redeeming qualities like minerals etc. Over the years I trained myself to not crave sugars and I keep monk fruit, dates syrup, raw local honey etc around so that if I do want to add a little sweetener at least it's not downright dangerous. All things all things in moderation has been one of my favorite phrases for years.

Lite salt or other potassium-containing salt, in addition to a smidge of magnesium (& some like the taste of water that has some crumbs of Zinc added) will better replenish nutrients lost via perspiration, diutetics such as caffeine &/or alcohol, &/or diarrhea, &/or vomiting, &/or increased breathing rate (relative to humidity there), etc..

Ha, this is from an "accredited hospital".... who, like almost all hospitals, have no clue about nutrition! I'm a former diabetic who reversed it eating whole food plant based, and was admitted for 5 days for an injury. There was barely anything I'd eat on the menus. Every meal included some dead animals and processed junk, totally disgusting. Even my oatmeal came with processed meat and eggs. So 5 days of bland soupy oatmeal, dry salads, soggy overcooked veggies, incinerated baked potatoes, and fruit salad... about the only thing that was decent!
