I’ve done that to my kitchen and with proper care it can last longer than a year before you would want to redo it. Just be careful not to cut it with knives.

I LOVE this transformation, you totally nailed it! The black looks absolutely amazing in your space. I was wondering, have you considered doing a black accent wall on the left by the fridge? LOVED THIS (yesss, I'm screaming)!!!! I'm in the process of transforming my light-colored kitchen to black. My Mom HATES the idea of a black kitchen (just like she hated my black and silver themed wedding), but I went for it anyway, just like I'm going for my black kitchen.....sorry Mom :-) I've wallpapered the cabinets and decided on a lighter colored backsplash, but I'm loving your design inspiration! I've been looking for black dishes and cutlery. So, thanks for the tip about getting them from Target! Also, I hadn't thought about books as part of a kitchen design. I'll steal that from you too. Much more difficult to see "pests" in and on black appliances. You want to be able to nip those things in the bud by catching them early. Although black is extremely attractive........but........
