This is the fifth video about my new folding woodworking workstation. Today I’ll be showing you how to use and build a crosscut sled that can be flipped over so that it can be stored on top of the outfeed table.
This design is perfect for people who don’t have a lot of space available in their garage. It’s also ideal to take outside the workshop and have a table saw, router table and assembly table at your disposal wherever you need them.

This whole project is just so cool. I’ve already built the workbench, router table and assembly table, and today I’m prepping the outfeed table. I’m the proud owner of The Smallest Workshop In The World; a 4x5ft slanted-ceiling cupboard under the stairs, but this whole system fits inside with plenty room to spare. Wheeling it outside to work is so easy and I feel like I’ve ended up with a remarkably capable workshop that sets up in seconds wherever I wish. Thanks so much for sharing these videos - buying the plans was a no-brainer for me and it’s completely changed my woodworking career. Thank you.

The only improvement I could suggest is to motorise the legs, it'd be fantastic to see unfold and fold away again all at the touch of a button 😁 I don't know what I enjoy most, watching you create or the finished piece, you seem to think of everything and in some cases you add multiple functionality with one piece ... not only is this a functional piece, it's also like a fine piece of furniture ... absolutely fantastic 👍

I was thinking, how is the crosscut slide going to be a outfeed and a slide as well? Obviously he’s going to have to make a removable t track guide. Then you raise the bar and make 2 so it still works for dado stacks! Genius!

Great video and great project overall, but if you want to do this part right, BEWARE to do the 5 cut method mentionned at 11' BEFORE YOU CUT THE SLED BASE IN TWO. It's not clearly mentionned in the video and I've lost a lot of time trying to figure this correctly.

the miter function of the crosscut sled is not so well thought through, as you can't really cut to length with it, since you bump into the 90° fence trying to cut off more than shown in the video
@steviebye1
@steviebye1 Жыл бұрын
Crosscut sleds are for smaller pieces I think. If you wanted to cut longer miterd pieces, just use the main table saw. I don't think that it's not well thought through.

I love your work...its very impressive but the one negative I will say is that this black top build is pretty much strictly for people who live outside the US or North America in general. This one feature is what makes this entire build look so attractive. Its like a sports car with a shinny paint job. Take that away and the visual aspect of this build goes way way down. Its a great build...you did a fantastic job...just no reasonable option to have our build turn out this visually pleasing in the end. Nobody from Canada can get it either and that leaves out North America, which I would guess makes up at least 75% of your audience.
@keving8682
@keving8682 Жыл бұрын
I understand your "pain" as I am in western Canada and cannot source it either, but you cannot fault Suso for using materials that he has readily available. Many of the European makers use it too (Peter Millard, Hooked on Wood, etc.). The closest I go to getting full-colored MDF was a local wholesaler that said they ordered a pallet and after 2 years they had to sell it at a deep discount to get rid of it. Hopefully it will eventually make its way over here but it will take customer demand to make it happen. In my case I laminated sheets of Baltic Birch with Formica to get a similar dark and light look, not 100% the same, but still looks pretty good. Another option you may be able to find locally is form-ply / pheonolic plywood used in concrete forming or commercial truck and trailer floors.
@garrydye2394
@garrydye2394 Жыл бұрын
@@keving8682No...I cant fault him at all...he does great work. I just know himself...hooked on wood and Peter all build these to sell plans. Pretty sure North America has the highest YT traffic by a landslide so a little strange to always (hooked on wood) to make your builds out of materials that we can not find here but yet want fo sell your plans to us. The black material is what makes these builds stand out and why they all use it so much with some only using it. But its a great build and looks amazing....he always does top notch work. Im still waiting for him to build a scissor lift that will slide under a work bench. So much of us have limited space.
