You should put a nut on the bolt before cutting it. When you remove the bolt it straightens most of the threading at the end.

Did that exact mount a 3/4 year ago.....works really good, you just have to watch out, that the hat you take a stable enoug, as the weight of the session does pull down a bit.........
@kylemartin1017 жыл бұрын
+DeutscheSchuetzen this is a good point. The hat I used is really stiff and I am sure it was part of the reason the mount worked as well as it did
@gunvlog7 жыл бұрын
I tried different hats, and every hat had a different stiffness. Not only the the cardboard sunshield is important, also the hat itself. But in the end, everybody has to give it a try and see what works best. I use the hat version a lot, since I make ots of videos at the shooting range here in germany and we have to have a hat on to protect ourselves from empty shels getting into out eyes from above. And the GoPro Headstrap prevents that. I also use it, when I take my dog for a walk and we head out into the forrest. Works really good. One thing I still wanted to try, but havn`t got round to picking it up is using a different frame for my Session. I mean the version that mounts on the back of the frame. That would lower the camera and make it a bit more comfortable to wear. Also the point of view would get closer to the eyes.

Great idea! I was thinking that if you used a nylon bolt, it would be much easier to cut, and it would be lighter. Also, if you thread a nut all the way to the screw head before cutting, when you unscrew it after, the threads will straighten out, so you don't have issues getting it to thread into the mount.
@kylemartin1017 жыл бұрын
+Willie Pierce that is a good idea. I will try to pick up some nylon bolts and test them out

Only trouble with the session is you can't bring extra batteries for it because they don't come out. How long could you record on one charge?

@kylemartin1017 жыл бұрын
It would work for visors. You would just have to make sure you put it on tight as I think a visor would not be as stable.

@aaron48207 жыл бұрын
"You can just pay extra to buy a hat which style you might not like instead of drilling one hole and convert any hat you like into a gopro hat." Sounds like good advice.
@toysoldier465526 жыл бұрын
The go pro mount hat on amazon is only 10 bucks and you don't have to ruin your favorite hat in the process.
@bashrc13756 жыл бұрын
Liked 👍.. Had I seen this video I would have 1 hole not 2 on the bill. I moved to closer to the head. I wouldn’t buy a hat with the mount. I prefer DIY the hole in the bill for stability over having the mount on the face of the hat. Plus to me lower profile more discreet. I have plenty old hats to get more life out of. 👍👍👍
