G'day from Melbourne, Australia, Sarah! I have been binge watching your videos lately, trying to get back into air dry clay... again! haha Anyway, quick question about the candle holder. Not a silly question 😊 If not sealed air dry clay would absorb any moisture. If you place in a bowl of water it would eventually go fully soft again, hope this helps

The larger one is part of a pipe, the others are plastic cookie cutters, but you can use things like fabric conditioner bottle lids, or simply cut around and object to get a shape ❤️

Very lovely tutorial. Where do you get your clay? My husband is from near Lancaster in the NW, so I can get my MIL to post me some over to Canada.

Is DAS clay or similar expensive in Canada? I get DAS from the works: tinyurl.com/yxv5839x and I also like hobbycraft white clay, which seems identical (edit: not the British clay) Also from NW 😊

hi there i have a question about the coaster, what happens if the glass sweats or the cup is hot? i have been wantitng to make some coasters but thought they might not work...
@RedRockingBird
@RedRockingBird 3 жыл бұрын
For coasters, you want to make sure they have a few good layers of top coat. A varnish or craft lacquer that is waterproof kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2Koh4COe7Kai7M. I suppose the heat could effect them over time, but would think it would take quite a lot to harm them.

Once sprayed with a few coats of lacquer you could sponge clean them if needed, if you left them bare you would not want to get anything on them, any liquid would soak in, I did enough spray to set the pepper 😊

@RedRockingBird

I sprayed them with lacquer to keep the pepper in place and protect the clay, if you leave this step out then yes the clay will go soft and ruin your project

New here. So this clay does not have to be kiln fired? I’m really interested in pottery but everything I encounter, turning, tossing, kiln, glazing, etc. HELP! ❤
@RedRockingBird
@RedRockingBird Жыл бұрын
Hi and welcome, yes air dry clay is a fab craft that is exactly that, air dry, so no kiln or oven needed. You can’t use it in the same way as pottery that is fired in a kiln though as air dry clay is not food safe. So many fun projects can be made with it though, many in my channel and many more to come, thank you 😊
