Hi Katie, I absolutely love these clay pieces. Can you tell me, Do you have to put some sort of sealant on the terracotta vase? If not, does any water spillage effect the clay? Thank you.
@KatieBookser4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you so much! You can definitely seal it if you’d like. There’s a product called Triple Thick that works well for air dry clay. Or you could use a clear waterproof sealant that you can usually find in the glue section of the craft store.

Hi can anyone tell me on which air dry clay is most recommended? Between Crayola and Das?
@KatieBookser4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’ve used each kind and the quality is similar (both good), but if I had to choose I would pick Crayola because you get more for your money!
@edelweissanastasiaedmand61814 жыл бұрын
@@KatieBookser i see! Also may i ask? do you know if it is ok to make cake toppers (e.i miniature figures) using air dry clay? Meaning is it safe to put it on top of a cake?
@KatieBookser4 жыл бұрын
@@edelweissanastasiaedmand6181 I don't think that most air dry clay is considered "food safe". There are some clear varnishes out there that you may be able to use in order to make it food safe. I think you'd need to do some research to be sure!

Thank you! I just use the little bottles of acrylic craft paint from the craft store. Nothing fancy 😊 It’s usually either Americana or DecoArt brand.

Would anyone know where you can get air dry and terracotta clay in recyclable packaging and bigger amounts? I'm in the UK and the ones from The Works are a bit small
@Annie-hz1hb4 жыл бұрын
Maybe check stores (online stores) that sell specifically to companies/schools etc, they usually have really large scale things at pretty cheap prices. I don’t live in the uk so I can’t recommend any specific ones but I’m sure you can find some if you google! Otherwise sites like amazon (although I don’t recommend amazon) sell large scale products (like 10kg jars of clay) and you can usually find the original seller via their site!
@megank72354 жыл бұрын
@@Annie-hz1hb thanks Annie, I usually just search but often they come in undisclosed excess packaging which I'm trying to avoid right now. I have found one that does 1kg packs in the UK but again it has no reviews so always a bit difficult. I think I might just have to bite the bullet on this one!

Hi! What can i use to glaze the clay when its dry? :)

Hi, DecoArt makes something called Triple Thick that you can apply to clay projects with a brush. That should work!

Hi Katie! I just found your channel and I love it 😍 my interest in pottery just peaked during quarantine and I was wondering if I can use this same method to make clay looking utensil holders? I am on the hunt for a diy method to make large holders so maybe with a larger glass vase and then use your method? Some advise would be lovely xx
@KatieBookser3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much. You definitely can! You would want to cut a long rectangular piece, big enough to fit around the large glass vase, then wrap the vase and close the seam using water. You can add a base by cutting a circle of clay, or just make it a little longer on the bottom so you can press some clay around the bottom edge so that the glass isn't visible. I hope that helps!

I've worked with Air Dry Clay but seem to always get cracks when it dries overnight. Does anyone have any advice to give please ?
@KatieBookser4 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is pretty common, one option is to keep an eye on it and fill cracks with a mixture of clay and water (it's called slip I believe but you can look it up) as it dries. Also make sure if you do add water to the clay while you're working with it, that you don't add too much because that makes it more prone to cracks. Those are the tips I've learned when working with it!

@KatieBookser3 жыл бұрын
You can take it out if you just want to use it as a mold. Just lightly wrap the clay around it to get the shape you want and then slide it out. I kept mine in because I wanted to use it as actual flower vase with water but that was just me.
