Dayton Plate amps are awesome. Williston Audio tested the SPA250 and it did OVER 500 watts RMS so that would explain why you're enjoying it so much! Love the setup!

I currently have two monoprice sw15s and a couple of 15" skar SDRs in a custom box. The skar subs are connected to a crown xli2500. Using all four in my home surround sound

I got almost the same thing running, but, I did put feet on it. All I did was cut out 4 sections of a 2x4 squared, put carpet on each square, and put them under the bottom corners. The bass definitely sounds more vibrant and less deadened. Also, I kept the amp separate and just ran a 15' 12 gauge wire to the subs location.
@kammarh14 жыл бұрын
I tried feet, the sub kept sliding. Lol I had never tried a plate amp before so I wanted to see if I could and how it would sound. I am definitely pleased.

I did the same thing but I used the rubber feet used to keep windshield away from one another during shipping seems to work out well

@@1982field I got noticeable gains from it facing the wall. There is also a difference if the port is closest to the corner as well, for me that meant inverting it which does make it look goofy.

Yes sir! Got to feel it.. I thought about doing your exact setup with plate amps, but just two of the sdr 18". The more I thought about it I figured I'll just get a nice powerful crown to push em. Skar subs are generally underrated 600rms you can probably push 750 800rms into them no problem.. that's movie theater quality Rumble there! Nice set up man..👌
@CC6_Fanclub_President Жыл бұрын
Did you do this setup? I have a crown xls2502 pushing 2 10's... I was thinking about replacing them with 1 18 since the amp will bridge... IDK

Man...that's pretty sweet! Just lately I've been thinking of doing this very thing and was wondering how well it would work with a plate amp. I think I might go with a more powerful plate, just to have the headroom. Since this is a dual voice coil woofer, how did you wire it to the amp?

Bro this is all you need to make a home theater setup? I'll buy an 18 inch skar sub right now. I got 4 vxf 12s in my trunk on 2 skv2 3500s. I used to have a logitech z-5500 setup and never knew what those amplifiers were called. So all I would need is sub, box, Back plate amp, (wire that to a sub) and then what? How do I get my mids and highs? a receiver? Then rcas from sub to receiver and mids just plugged in with wire? Any recommendation on a receiver? This video was a big help.
@kammarh14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I'm running it with an onkyo 7.2 but any receiver 5.1 or better will sound good.
@JoshM73 жыл бұрын
I recommend a receiver (5.1/7.1 etc) with floor standing speakers or bookshelf speakers. (Don't think about car mids and highs for home. Gets too complicated.) Then a pro amplifier to power subs. Something like a Inuke3000DSP will work great and the DSP is amazing. (Just know that the Inuke power rating is BS and the most you'll get out of it is around 500w at 4 ohm clean. I've seen 1400w dyno with it but mine is only doing 500w clean from what I've tasted, so idk)

Try putting the sub in your couch and see where it sounds best at and move it where it sounds best and I recommend facing it up👍👍

What is your opinion on the box itself? More specifically it’s port? I love skar audio but I’ve always been biased against ported subs because I personally believe the bass frequencies are not as balanced with a port. Does the port make a certain bass tone much louder than the rest of the sounds coming from the sub?
@kammarh13 жыл бұрын
The box is great. The port gives the lows more rumble. For explosions it makes all the difference. No port is for more of a tight sound. My opinion as far as ported or not is that ported brings the rumble very well, non ported makes your lows tight and efficient.
@JoshM73 жыл бұрын
Ported can sound as good as Sealed as long as you know what you're doing when building the box. I've ran my sealed 10" against my ported 18 and SQ was too similar to pick the "tighter" sounding sub. In the end preferred the 18 since it could play lower since it was ported and tuned low. (10" is my car sub that I tested in the house against the 18")

Know I'm late but could I run my 220w amp on my sdr 12 and play lows for bass or should I wait to to get a full 600w amp because I noticed your underpowering the sub how did you do it I also plan to have this hooked up to my TV great video bro
@justinbeamon66242 жыл бұрын
Look up the Behringer Inuke1000 and similar power amps. Those have so much power for the money. It says 1000, but in reality it's probably making around 600 watts rms which is exactly what you need. The Dayton audio plate amps are great but can get hot if you drive them hard, though it's really not an issue in home theater use. All in all yes you should wait to really feed it the power it needs.

how are you using that 250 watt amp on such a big subwoofer without it blowing?
@kammarh13 жыл бұрын
The amp has zero distortion with thermal shut off and the sub is 600 watt rms so no conflicts.
@jimjones32873 жыл бұрын
In home theater applications the subwoofer will rarely need all those watts to make simple thunder sounds and gunshot sounds. Plus no noise pollution from outside. A house just has way better acoustics than a metal car.

What subwoofer would you compare this to? Which ones did you pay $700 for? I was thinking about buying an svs pb2000. How do you think it compares to that?
@chrishernandez24902 жыл бұрын
I've heard neither in person so I hope I don't sound like a jack*ss, but from my countless hours of research I can tell you this: SVS makes some amazing subwoofers. That SVS would probably sound absolutely phenomenal BUT they can be pretty pricey. Your gonna have to pay some big bucks for that kind of performance. With that being said, the setup in this video looks killer. Ive heard that Skar audio makes some great budget subs. And I definitely feel this setup will give you awesome performance for the Money spent. Im actually going to try something similar. I have a skar 12 inch I ordered from Amazon. I'm going to install it in a long rectangular box (the ones the go behind pickup truck seats) with a 12 inch passive radiator. Im planning on installing it directly behind my couch for some tactile bass. If it comes out good I'll post a video

I mean, how can someone do a review on something and they dont even know the name of the parts of what they are reviewing? The foam is the surround, the steel part is the basket, theres a voice coil, a backplate, a front pate, a magnet, a spider, terminals, tinsel leads, and a gasket. I just ordered that same sub from skar too. $127.00 without a box. You want it to really dig deep build a t-line box for it tuned to 24hz.
