Nice Job Rick. Wish you a merry Christmas and the best for the new year coming soon. I am happy for that we don’t use gas furnaces in my place, only costly electric heating here. The power friendly heat-pumps are also widely used here, still with our cold winters they work in a decent manner.

I prefer gas, but that's just my preference. I also live in a neighborhood with houses that ether have gas or all electric. Some of them actually have both, like gas for the hot water and stove, but heat pump for the heating. One thing i want to point out, is your system probably also has electric resistance heat. That automatically comes on to assist the heat pump, when temperatures in your area get below a point where it can't keep up, or during a defrost cycle. Most heat pumps systems in regions that sees below freezing temps often, have standby supplemental heat of ether gas or electric resistance.
@per99516 күн бұрын
@@KenKen-ui4ny Good explanation. The main reason for me is the explosion hazard by the gas systems, not the feature itself. The monoxide part too. Anyway you use it, we pulled up all supply lines some 50 years ago so access is not there anymore. Have a great Christmas 🎄

Nice easy job, I probably would have yanked the blower to see if it was the right capacitor. Not too hard on those especially if you already have the control board out. Downflow furnaces are a little bit more involved to pull the blower...

The best way I've heard about power factor is a motor boat. The power applied, the angle of the boat and resulting speed of the boat. I'd explain more but don't think it's necessary.

That trick for taking the high speed motor tap and putting it on the transformer I’ve never thought of! Do you have to take the neutral off the board and put an extra spade connector on the common to take the board 100% out of the equation?
@HVACRSurvival16 күн бұрын
No, you do not, the neutrals are generally bonded right to the incoming neutral, if you flip the board around and look at the backside, you'll see they're all soldered together.

Cresent tools are the freaking shiz, I don’t even use side cutters anymore. They make a great little pair of high leverage, industrial tradesman shears that’ll cut through rocks if you work at it enough. I’m gonna have to try that Testo meter though, personally I like my Fluke but I’m always looking for something better.
@HVACRSurvival2 күн бұрын
I'm not gonna say it's better than my fluke because fluke gives you a few things for a lot of money, but those few things they do is usually flawless. I like the testo because it gives me a lot of features and it appears to be accurate, plus it integrates in with the other testo of stuff that I have. They have three different meter so make sure you get the dash three. It's the most expensive one, the other ones they have are cheaper and they don't have all the features that you seen on this one.
